Emergent church leader says 'gay' can be biblical lifestyle
One of the key leaders of today's most cutting-edge church movement has opened an Internet discussion on the issue of same-sex marriage with the bold proclamation that he believes "gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual and queer" individuals can and should live out their sexuality in – and blessed by – the Christian church.

"I now believe that GLBTQ can live lives in accord with biblical Christianity (as least as much as any of us can!)," writes author and church leader Tony Jones, "and that their monogamy can and should be sanctioned and blessed by church and state."

Jones is an author and former youth pastor who holds a doctorate from Princeton Theological Seminary. He is also the national coordinator of Emergent Village, a loosely-formed friendship of churches that derive their descriptive name from having "emerged" from postmodernism to take the gospel of Jesus Christ into a post-Christian ...

Want to know what existentialism is? Read the article ❗ For that reason alone besides others
John MacArthur wrote:
All this relativity has had disastrous effects on the typical Christian's ability to discern truth from error, right from wrong, good from evil. The plainest teachings of the Bible are being questioned among people who declare themselves believers in the Bible. For example, some Christians are no longer certain whether homosexuality should be classed as a sin. Others argue that the feminist agenda is compatible with biblical Christianity. "Christian" television, radio, books, and magazines serve up a preposterous smorgasbord of ideas...

Even to suggest that a sorting between lies and truth is necessary is viewed by many as perilously intolerant. There is a notion abroad that any dispute over doctrine is inherently evil. Concern for orthodoxy is regarded as incompatible with Christian unity. Doctrine itself is labeled divisive and those who make doctrine an issue are branded uncharitable. No one is permitted to criticize anyone else's beliefs, no matter how unbiblical those beliefs seem to be....

This man needs to realize that it's not a matter of how he feels, it's what the Word of God says.

When a man in his position as a pastor starts makeing statement like this, he needs to beware.

“My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.” (James 3:1)

He's putting himself in the position of being one who wearies the LORD. The LORD will only put up with that for just so long.

“Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied [him]? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil [is] good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where [is] the God of judgment?” (Malachi 2:17)

Instead he needs to use his pulpit to proclaim God's Law concerning homosexuality & then to proclaim God's grace as the one and only remedy.

PassingBy: What you say about pride is true but I'm not quite sure why you included the "pride" discussion. I'm even more confused as to the apparent connection you have made between pride and "Christian Raas". Am I misreading you (I hope so) or are you suggesting he is making a statement in pride, much like the pharisee who prayed, "I thank you God that I'm not like this publican..."? If so I think you are judging harshly and presumptiously.

I have copied Christian Raaz's comment so that I can use it in future discussions with homosexuals who maintain that they cannot change because its in the genes.

Christian Raaz, thank you for your testimony.

Now, Heterosexuals are in the Closet is a good article by Henry Makow Ph.D.

If you search "heterosexual" in Google, you will get 16 million citations. Search "homosexual" and you get more than 20 million citations, pretty good for 3% of the population.

Per capita "homosexual" received 100 times the citations "heterosexual" got.

Another example. There are 21 times as many used books listed with the Advanced Booksellers Exchange under the keyword "homosexuality" as "heterosexuality" (24233 to 1154). Per cap this means there are 6750 references to homosexuality for every one to heterosexuality.

This cultural assault on heterosexual norms is part of a long-term program by the Masonic Jewish financial elite to decrease population, destroy the family and destabilize society.

Far-fetched you say?

The Rockefeller Foundation is funding this campaign. Type in Google "Rockefeller Foundation" and "Women's Studies" and you will get 136,000 entries, many acknowledging support. Type in RF and "homosexual" and you will get 221,000 entries. Type in RF and "heterosexual" and you get only 11,700 entries, mostly in reference to their promotion of homosexuality.

"Well, there are happy people in the Bible, aren't there?"

"These emergent churches would be more accurately called methane churches, formed from the decomposition of manure."

Mike in New York, you are the funniest Christian I know! Methane churches, priceless.

Anyone who has studied the history of Christianity thoroughly knows about the history of Princeton University. They've been on the path of apostasy for around 80-100 years or so. I wouldn't give you a nickel for a PhD in religion from Princeton.

LD, thanks for those kind words, and I should have also included the sermon, ]]Satan's Counterfeiting of Christianity.

Puritanbooks, I guess you'll have to explain yourself a little better. Is my church completely hostile to Reformed movement. Hardly, we have and had quite a few works from the Reformed side of the Church in our bookstore. Indian Hill is a Premillennial, Baptist, Calvinistic, Dispensational church. This means we have some disagreements with Reform movement, q.v., ]]Dispensations, and ]]Eschatology. Does that mean that never a mean word is said about the Reformed movement? Well, ]]What to Look for in a Church is not the recommendation that you might be looking for. We're in the long line churches which one can be said is reprsented by the very well-known John MacArthur. So, it isn't exactly Gil Rugh alone against the world.

Have a great Thanksgiving, fellows!

People need to listen to Brother Rugh he know's what he is preaching about. The problem is most people do not have ear's to hear. They try to hear with there carnal mind and not a renewed born again spirit........By the way Christ is not his name...this is what he is....This is a fundamental teaching for baby.

Is this what you post constant, that Gil Rugh should be between man and Christ. As your anti-Christians place what they want between man and Christ.
Then so is my reply to you between man and Christ.?

I know that the emergent church will not agree with the word of GOD. They will try and change the truth into a lie. Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Did you get that worthy of DEATH.

""Sin," saith he, "is crucified; it is fastened to the cross." To what end? "That the body of death may be destroyed," the power of sin weakened and abolished by little and little, that "henceforth we should not serve sin;" that is, that sin might not incline, impel us with such efficacy as to make us servants to it, as it hath done heretofore.
And this is spoken not only with respect to carnal and sensual affections, or desires of worldly things, -- not only in respect of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, -- but also as to the flesh, that is, in the mind and will, in that opposition unto God which is in us by nature." (Bruised Reed. Richard Sibbes)

Rom 6:6 "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin."

Apparently this emerging church would rather teach the sinner to serve the sin!

"...congregations are collectively known, is criticized by some for being "theologically liberal," praised by others as the best hope for passing the torch of Christianity to future generations...."

Same old usual Liberal rubbish.
If you want to build a cult - rewrite the Bible and try to sanctify sin to make it socially acceptable.

Worship of the creature and its culture is not really a new thing to mankind.

Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

They have NOT received the gift of faith.
