A genetically engineered organism that lives 10 times longer than normal has been created by scientists in California. It is the greatest extension of longevity yet achieved by researchers investigating the scientific nature of ageing.
If this work could ever be translated into humans, it would mean that we might one day see people living for 800 years. But is this ever going to be a realistic possibility?
Valter Longo is one of the small but influential group of specialists in this area who believes that an 800-year life isn't just possible, it is inevitable. It was his work at the University of Southern California that led to the creation of a strain of yeast fungus that can live for 10 weeks or more, instead of dying at its usual maximum age of just one week....
I am sure Al Gore would be very much against the idea of people living 600 years or so. Why, think how BIG one's CARBON FOOTPRINT would be in that amount of time. Then again, we could do without carbon emission polluting cars because we have lots of time to WALK to work, no hurry, right? Think how many kids you could have in 600 years. Let's see...do the math... Why you might possibly see your great grandchildren to the 30TH generation.
Humor aside. The real problem would be man's fallen nature, and how corrupt the earth would be, just like the days of Noah when men lived long lives. God shortened men's lives to curb this problem.
Ephesians 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not sure who wrote this this comment
For His glory and namesake, I'm sure that God cares if His *elect* will be saved. You might not care, which is to say that you don't care for God's chosen and adopted children. Why's that?
I'm sure that God cares Can one say such things and attach it to mans theology, while at the same time use Personal attacks or insults directed at other users
You might not care, which is to say that you don't care for God's chosen Of all the other Gospels
Although this would be concidered a rebuke to whom this comment was written Except the rebuke was not for teaching false doctrine, preaching another Gospel, it was full of pride, man centered, defending mans teachings The Bible is very clear what Jesus will say Matthew 7 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you:
Matthew 25 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels

Gen 5 And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begot sons and daughters: And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died. And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died. etc
It's entirely possible, however bear in mind that God lowered the average lifespan since then. 2 score years and 10 we are told in psalms.
I say no. Man is always trying to play God, and this is a more blatant than usual case. The stuff they would give you to live longer would probably kill you or make your life unbearable with it's side effects. IF they could produce it in the first place that is.
I read somewhere that even if the age process could be thwarted, average human life expectancy would still be no more than about 600 years...before some traumatic event (fire, car accident, etc.) would kill you anyway.
Then again, I suppose that would be about 10-times normal human lifespan, as this article seems to be promoting.
