By order of President Bush, the American flag flies half-staff for the victims of Hurricane Katrina until Tuesday, Sept. 20.
The Greenville community, along with many local organizations such as the American Red Cross, has spent the last two weeks gathering resources and volunteers to assist the Katrina relief efforts.
BJU has also made itself available to the efforts as needed by the city of Greenville.
“We’ve offered the use of the dining common (and) the activity center, but right now we are limited by the city as to what we can do,” said Mr. Jonathan Pait, BJU’s public liaison. “We’re in a holding pattern—ready, willing, able to help—just waiting for the go-ahead from the city.
“So much is still unknown—the demographics, the number of people expected, the length of time they will be here. The best thing right now to do is donate money.”...
