Benjamin wrote: But some reasons are for textual criticism issues. We are constantly finding new papyri and are being able to learn more about God’s word. So there are updates.
When will it end? Are we to be at the mercy of so-called scholarship and people digging stuff up in the dirt forever?
What a weariness.
Is God's word never to be settled?
It took a long time for me to grow up and quit playing scholar. What I found was that being obsessed with the original and version differences was a way to keep God at bay. I grew a lot when I came to rest on the KJV. And I got no help from reformed pastors playing scholar. God had to deliver me from the hidden neo-orthdoxy of our day.
Is the KJV perfect? I will say this, it is good enough to get me to glory. It is a good starting point. And God is honored that I believe in His providential preservation, and I believe in His Church and the job it did on this great work.

Thanks Ben, I have not looked into this guy much, thanks for the heads up on all this.
Just one thing, don't be mislead by so-called science or modern thought. You say "in our day and age" like this is some kind golden day. It is not. The men who did the KJV were far superior to liberals and rank unbelievers who crank out new versions so publishing houses can get rich.
You are right about there being some good preaching available! Here is some: https://www.sermonaudio.com/source_detail.asp?sourceid=mettabernacle
Yes, I agree. Mr. Lee pulled his punch. Sad. It almost seems like he was compelled by his FPC ties to say something.
Perhaps SA has become too big with too many temptations. I am glad I am not in Brother Steven's shoes. It is safest to be a little fish in a little pond. This is what we should aim for. Men who want to go big go wrong from the start. William Cam Townsend of SIL and BG were both good examples of this.
Interesting comment, Addendum. I get it, we all have a tendency to be God's mommy. May be all be content with God's view of things.
"...he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (1Jo 5:10-12)
(perhaps now you will have some more space, Addendum)
Wonderful Sermon! Over the years I have listened to hundreds of sermons, but I have never heard such preaching as in this sermon. As well the reading of it excellent and moving. A piercing message well done.
I was in great confusion years ago in regard to a Bible version. I spent all my time in Bibleworks comparing versions because they all seem to swerve at some point. At the time I was using mainly the NASB. I was into Piper when he went to the ESV in 2002 (?). I had such great hopes! I jumped in and got two leather bound units for my wife and myself.
We used it, and read though it twice in two years. During this time we were driven crazy by the ESV. It is so poorly done it is hard to believe.
I found myself spending even more time in Bibleworks looking and comparing. What a time burner! What a wake up call when a brother challenged me on it! God used this to shake me up bad. What is Piper thinking? What is going on? I still don’t get it.
Well God brought us home to the KJV after much pain.
Shame on those Reformed pastors that poisoned our minds to the KJV early on in our faith (they promoted the use the ASV 1901). Away with all the confusion and subtle attacks on God’s word! God have mercy.
I wonder if the NIV is better than the ESV, it seems to hang together better. The NIV is fluff to be sure, but at least it does not pretend to be some great thing: has anyone read the preface of the ESV? It is pure pretense. How wicked!
Phil the Pharsee wrote: This man should be put away from All human contact. He not only Sinned, he did worse, he embarrased the rest of us with his failure. He should never be forgiven under any circumstances. No one who fails should Ever be forgiven. .
Does not one have to repent to be restored?
Does this look like repentance to you?
I know it does not look like repentance to the world because it is news.
It would do many hearts good if he would just cool his jets and take the back seat. His was a public fall, and the Name of our Lord was put through the mud in a big way; does that not upset you a little?
