Jim Lincoln wrote: Well, as Phil Johnson explained it, a member of John MacArthur's staff: excerpt from,"Unforgivable?" https://www.gty.org/library/blog/B131030 Rev. 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. |

Dave wrote: You have heard that it was said an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth but I tell you not to resist an evil person but whoever slap you on the right cheek to turn the other to him also if anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic let him have your cloak also and whoever compels you to go 1 mile go with them 2 give to him who asks from you and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away. you have heard that it was said you shall love your neighbour and hate your enemies but I say to you love your enemies bless those who curse you do good to those who hate you and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you that you may be Sons of your Father in heaven for he makes his sunrise on the evil and good and sheds rain on the just and unjust for if you love those who love you what reward have you .do not even the tax collector to do the same and if you greet your brethren only Then what do you do more than others do not even the tax collectors do this therefore you shall be perfect just as your Father in heaven is perfect. Nkjv 5:38/48 Sorry talk text, no fullstops etc. So is Jesus contradicting Himself in Luke 12:39? |

Marcus G wrote: Well, think about it: The Colossians were gentiles who had turned to the Messiah. As a result, they had changed and had even begun to return to GOD's Holy days, etc. Paul was encouraging them to stick with it. He was saying don't go back to the pagan things you've come from. They are a shadow of things to come (in eternity). The pagan things are not! Act 15:19-21 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: but that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath dayAct 21:24,25 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law. As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication. |

P Green wrote: Are they "responsible" for what they did not/cannot perceive and understand? Incidentally what role (influence) do you give sin in man's decisions? Romans 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Revelation 20:12,13 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment |

ladybug wrote: Nicodemus came to Christ at night, was drawn to Him AFTER hearing Him teach and seeing Christ do miraculous things. He was drawn by God to Christ, not because he possessed a free will, but because God moved him in his understanding. Others saw Christ do great things as well, and even 'believed on His name', but Christ did not 'trust Himself unto them' {John 2:23-24}. Nicodemus coming to Christ is an example of what Christ meant in John 6:44. As for John 12:32, 'draw all men unto myself' cannot mean every person ever born, for broad is the road to destruction and many are on that road. Most perish in their sins, so to try and claim the text means every person ever born goes against what the Bible teaches. 'All men' means some from every tribe, every tongue, every nation {Revelation 5:9-10} |

Mike wrote: I wonder why Nicodemus came to Christ, having not been born again, and therefore having no interest in the things of God, unable to see, and not wanting to, loving darkness rather than light, lover of sin rather than lover of God? ------------- No man can come to me , except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. And He said, therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. John 6:44.65 |

But ye BELIEVE NOT, because ye are not of my SHEEP, as I said unto you. (Joh 10:26)But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they BELIEVED NOT on him: That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? Therefore they COULD NOT believe, because that Esaias said again, He hath BLINDED their eyes, and HARDENED their heart; that they should not SEE with their eyes, nor UNDERSTAND with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. (Joh 12:37-40) But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the DEAD bury their DEAD. (Mat 8:22) But she that liveth in pleasure is DEAD while she LIVETH. (1Ti 5:6) And you, being DEAD in your SINS and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; (Col 2:13) Even when we were DEAD in SINS, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved) (Eph 2:5) |
