Dr. Yamil Luciano wrote:
You stated that the Grace cannot be resisted.
There is nothing fallacious in asking you to share with us a verse that actually states that.
It would be fallacious if you do not have God's word as final authority, which I am starting to believe this to be true of you.
The real fallacy is the folly of stating that the Bible backs you up while refusing to give a verse that proves your point.
Ps 110:3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power.

Is63:15,16 "Look down from heaven and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory:where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained? Doubtless thou art our FATHER , though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou,O LORD, art our FATHER, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting".

Ro9:6 "...For they are not all ISRAEL, which are of Israel".
Ga3:7 "Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8.and the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the GOSPEL unto Abraham, saying, in thee shall all nations be blessed.26.For ye are all the children of God by FAITH in Jesus Christ".

Acts7:37 "This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel. A prophet shall the LORD your GOD raise up unto you of your brethren like unto me; Him shall ye hear. 38. This is he, that was in the CHURCH in the WILDERNESS with the angel which spake to him....".
I do not agree with your exegesis, but may we disagree respectfully.

Since God draws His elect to Jesus, normally by the preaching of the word, then one must say that, "no, God's wrath does not abide on the elect before that precise moment in time that he believes", or He would pass him over as He did Pharaoh. See Jer 31:3
"...I have loved thee with an EVERLASTING LOVE: THEREFORE WITH EVERLASTING KINDNESS I have DRAWN thee".
The elect are NOT as other men, Acts26:18, "to open their eyes , and to turn them from darkness to light..that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance(adoption!) among them that are sanctified by faith that is in me".
Oh yes ,God's wrath is revealed from heaven. Remember the tsunami in Indonesia? The planes flying into the Twin Towers? Just accidents or coincidences? Ep1:11, "In whom we have obtained an inheritance (adoption AGAIN !!), being predestinated according to the PURPOSE of him who worketh ALL THINGS after the COUNSEL of HIS OWN WILL".
Finally JD you do remind me of one Simon in Acts 8:21,28 "Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter:for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity".

Infecting Theological Untruth wrote:
Hmmmm. Lets see here. Shall we close down this thread as well?
Well maybe this statement will:
Jesus loves your unconverted wife.
Let's see what Jesus says on this subject.

1 Jn 5:10,12: He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he(or She) that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he(she) believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. He that hath the son hath life; and he (she) that hath not the son of God hath not life.

Jn 3:36: He (she) that believeth on the Son of God hath everlasting life: and he (she) that believeth not the Son shall not see life: but the WRATH of God abideth on him(her).

Psalm 7:11; 10:4; God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. The wicked, through the pride of his (her) countenance, will not seek after God; God is not in all his(her) thoughts.

Mt7:23: And then will I profess unto them, I never KNEW you: depart from me , ye that work iniquity.

Ro1:18 : For the WRATH of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men (women), who hold the TRUTH in UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.

I believe you have a misunderstanding of Reformed Theology. Perhaps this will help. 2Co10:5 "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity EVERY thought to the obedience of Christ". Le26:23,24 "And if ye will not be REFORMED BY ME by these things, but will walk contrary unto me; then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins". This is what is wrong in America and Western Europe, we no longer are reformed unto God's word, but have adopted man's wisdom. Ho4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee....seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God ,I will also forget thy children".This nation was founded by Reformed Christians,i.e., Pilrims, Puritans, but as the Arminians/Socinians gained more and more control, with Platonic teaching on the free and autonymous will of man, we have slipped deeper into depravity, not only in the majority of "churches", but throughout the nation as well. But I praise God anyway, for so it "seemed good in(HIS) sight",to hide the truth from all BUT His elect Mt11:25-27.

In the name of the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.

About your comments to Seaton 9-2-07 5:28 pm.
I believe 2Ti2:2 which you quoted means exactly what Seaton says it means, his faithful preacher is passing along what The Holy Ghost has revealed through scripture. Ro10:15, "And how shall they preach EXCEPT THEY BE SENT? How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things." You seem to be advocating that every generation must learn again the eternal truths of scripture but this is not what God's WORD SAYS: Je6:16 ".....stand ye in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therin and ye shall find rest for your souls..." Is30:15 "....In returning and rest shall ye be saved ;in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength..." Ne8:7,12 ".....Joshua..and the Levites caused the people to understand the law...And all the people went their way to eat,...amd make great mirth, because they had UNDERSTOOD THE WORDS THAT WERE DECLARED UNTO THEM." He10:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some; but EXHORTING one another .."

You appear to be so worldly wise but I suspect you have become "over wise", Ec7:16. While true we are to "study to show (ourselves) approved unto God....rightly dividing the word of truth",2Ti2:15, and we are to "meditate day and night" in His law,Ps1:2,you seem to have missed "...that in SIMPLICITY and godly sincerity ,NOT with fleshly wisdom, but by the GRACE of GOD, we have had our conversation in the world..."2Co 1:12. "For WHATSOEVER things were written AFORETIME were written for OUR learning, that we through patience and COMFORT OF THE SCRIPTURES might have HOPE",Ro 15:4. I see neither comfort nor hope in your posts.
Salvation is of the LORD, Praise to His Name.

Discerning Believer,

Did not mean to ruffle your feathers so! If you think that I am an elitist, so be it. What does 1Pe 2:9 sound like? "But ye are a CHOSEN generation, an HOLY Nation, a PECULIAR people: that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath CALLED YOU OUT OF DARKNESS into His marvelous light." This is what Mt 11:25-27 is all about. I'll not apologize for the plain meaning of scripture. You may want to play around with modern day Socinians who call themselves Christian, but I am about fed up with folks who try to appear as lambs but speak as dragons,Re13:11. As far as Mike is concerned, let him speak for himself. I will not try to read peoples minds, I have not received that "gift".

2Cor 10:6

Mike from New York.

".....I thank thee,O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed GOOD in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son but the Father: neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he whomsoever the Son will reveal him." Mt 11:25-27. I know you can't believe the plain import of these words, but I am curious as to how you will parse this scripture.

Good to hear a man with some discernment on this forum. Like you , B.B. Warfield had a great appreciation for the WCF. He stated:"[WCF] is the final crystallization of the elements of evangelical religion, after the conflicts of 1600 years...they are the richest and most precise and best guarded statement ever penned of all that enters into evangelical religion and of all that must be safeguarded if evangelical religion is to persist in the world",B.B.Warfield, Selected Shorter Writings. I don't expect the Arminians on this Forum to appreciate his statement, after all they cannot, 1Co2:14, but we who have had our eyes opened know along with Mr.Warfield that "the WCF is the finest systematic treatise of Holy Scripture ever produced in creedal form", So Great A Salvation:A Study of the Soteriology of the Westminster Standards, W.Gary Crampton,Th.D.;Richard Bacon,Ph.D

Abigail& Hopalong Cassidy,
I fail the Lord many, many times every day. I was not admonishing either of you, only trying to encourage you in that as Peter failed His Lord, so do we all, but God is faithful to His Elect, and will not leave ONE to his own devices, but will preserve them all to the end, John 10:14.
1Peter 1:3,4,5: ...according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again to a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. Who are KEPT by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."

Hopalong Cassidy,
If I might add a reponse to your comments to Abigail on 8-9-07 about Peter. You are so right. Peter had the truth revealed to him in Mt16:16,17 and was blessed by God. Yet 5 verses later Peter was rebuking Jesus and our Lord chastised him and called him SATAN. Then he cut off Malchus' ear believing he must save the Savior and was rebuked again. Of course Peter denied Jesus 3 times before the Cock crowed as Jesus predicted, and Peter denied, argued with, and doubted the Lord again in Acts 10:9-17. He once more denied the Lord and was ashamed of Him in Gal 2:11,12. The point of all this is that this would indicate that God DOES NOT put any trust in His saints, Job15:15. How could He with Peter, an Apostle, and witness, and close confidant of Jesus, as an archetype of a saint? Are we any more stedfast in our faith than Peter?

Mike from New York:
Yes, what Eliphaz said in Job 15:15 is true, as many of his statements were. He and his friends were coming from a wrong understanding of the grace and mercy of God to His elect, and of His perogative in dealing with His creatures,Romans9:19-21,but he and his friends had a right understanding of man's inability to be righteous before a thrice holy God. Job in 14:4 says basically the same thing, echoed by David in Psalm 14, and 113:6; Jeremiah in 10:23;and of course Paul in Romans 3, and Ephesians 2; and even our Lord in John 2:25; 5:34. Even if man kept the commandments perfectly, he would still be an UNPROFITABLE SERVANT, according to Jesus in Luke17:10.
Yes we are untrustworthy, but He is faithful and just to keep His promises and save His elect, Romans7:24,25a, "O wrethed man that I am! who shall deliver me from this body of death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord...". Remember Habakkuk 1:13a? "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity...". You think he may have read Job 15:15?

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Mike from New York,

May I add in addition to 2Tim 2:25;
Acts5:31 "Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for TO GIVE REPENTANCE to Israel, and forgiveness of sins".
Jer31:18b,19a "....turn thou me, and I shall be turned;for thou art the Lord my God. Surely after that I was turned I repented...".
Sorry Mike but God just does not trust His people with their own salvation, and He will provide EVERYTHING necessary to get them across Jordan, even their repentance.
Job15:15 "Behold, He putteth no trust in His saints; yea the heavens are not clean in His sight.
CHRIST alone!!

Lurkers Nemesis,
Esau never sought or received repentance. The sorrow he had was the sorrow of the world, 2Cor7:10. He never had spiritual life and thus 1Co2:14 was applicable to him. He cared only for Earthly things 1Cor15:48a; James 3:14-16;4:4. His descendants, the Edomites, were at war with God's people perpetually, until God in His wrath destoyed them as well.
Every elect person has received repentance from the Lord; you stated one example in Corinthians. Esau did not receive repentance,He12:17. And as Luke 13:3 says,"except ye repent,ye shall all likewise perish".

2Thess2:13

OSAS Heresy,
Sorry it took so long to respond. The scriptures are absolutely necessary in a believers life. They give us our Faith,Ro10:17;our rebirth,1Pe1:23;our comfort,2Co 1:3;Ro15:4; our certainty,1Jn 5:13,Acts1:3. The believer meditates and feeds on them day and night: Job 23:12; Psalm 1:2; Mt4:4. And God conforms the saint to the image of Jesus by them: Ro8:29; 2Ti3:16,17.
The Truth Movement blowing through the planet today has always been here, and He uses the power of God's Word to quicken whom He will,Jn3:8; Jn5:21.
As far as people losing their salvation, could you give a scripture or two?

Jn10:28"And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."

Fellow Saint:
I do not understand your stance on OSAS/eternal security, or The Perseverance/Preservation of the Saints. You say rightly that God forgives the sins of His saints but seem to reject the comfort of the promises of the scriptures concerning our certainty of eternal life/security. I would recommend a look at "preserve" in a concordance and look especially through the Psalms. These are precious promises that a Christian is given by our Saviour and have every right to believe in. The RCC does reject eternal security, they claim this is a sin of presumption, another of their total contradictions of God will.

Psalm 37:28 "For the Lord loveth judgement and forsaketh not His saints;they are PRESERVED FOREVER:.....".
