Great Sermon! So true, So true, So true! Great message if only people wanted to follow God, they would not try to justify the wickedness of their flesh. Praise the Lord I was saved out of the rock when I was 31.
1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
The lyrics and voodoo beats are not holy, so lets stop kidding ourselves!
Keep up the work, we are listening out here!
Great Sermon! Like You say brother Paul about Paul that the people of Thessalonians turn them self to God not because day were tired of there idols but because God himself reveal his glory to them so God become more value to them , the other thing is that day follow the example of them but looking to Jesus so I get encourage to do the same. Thanks brother Paul
John UK wrote: That's a vast gulf between us! And it will determine which of us makes heaven, and which is consigned to hell.
This "vast gulf" is narrowing according to Protestant scholars, Drs. Horton and Noll:
"In the light of the virtual Pelagianism of American religion (e.g., Protestantism without the Reformation), [Reformation soteriology] doesn't look that different [from Catholic soteriology]: At least Rome is semi-Augustinianism."
-WTS Professor of Theology and Apologetics, Dr. Michael Horton, "]]Is the Reformation Over?," October 20, 2011
Because the large majority of Protestants are Pelagians, those denominations who subscribe to Reformation theology (PCA, OPC & Reformed Baptists) no longer seem very far from Trent.
In this unprecedented whole gale, "the virtual ]]Pelagianism of American religion" (Dr. Michael Horton, ]]It's Not about Luther, It's About the Gospel), we're trying to hear one another during this violent storm. This ubiquitous notion is being shouted from the rooftops, for those who even care to consider a Heavenly destination, that we (somehow) choose between good and evil without Christ's help.
Meanwhile the definition of the word "is" is ceaselessly debated (e.g., "by works a man is justified, and not by faith only" James 2:24), many souls are lost to Atheism, Islam, Pelagianism, etc.
]]The Thinking Atheist organization has 300,000 views of its video alleging that the depicted baby (and billions like him) is being strong-armed into believing (they contend, false) elements of the Christian religion including original sin, his sin, Christ and faith, hope & love.
It's a pernicious work of "art" because within four minutes, the viewer, could be left a bit bewildered about the Christian faith, or any faith, for that matter.
If the Roman Catholic Church is "evil" because of its teaching on works based on its understanding of the Book of James, then this Atheist organization is even worse than that.
"The Thinking Atheist" couldn't care less about our collegial faith and works discussion. Their assertion is that there's NO God. While we sit idly by, this very persuasive video carves out 1,000s of disciples from the Christian Church.
John UK wrote: I didn't rely on Luther, Calvin, Knox, Williams, Wesley, when I was saved by God's grace. I'd never even heard of these guys. Ye do greatly err. No, I was saved when I heard that Jesus had died for sinners lost, had been raised for sinners lost, and had ascended into heaven for sinners lost, and was even now interceding for lost sinners. I believed, I prayed, and God saved me and filled me with his Spirit, assuring me that I was now adopted into his family. And at the time, I didn't even know the difference between a Catholic church and a Methodist church. But God gave me discernment to tell the difference between a true church and a false church. This is why no-one can call me a Protestant. I am a Christian, and that is that. God saved me, and is keeping me, and to him alone be all the glory when I enter the glories of heaven. I would never claim any merit whatever for getting into heaven.
Chesterton once said that if every man lived a thousand years he would either end up as a pessimistic nihilist or a member of the Catholic Church.
For example, how does your ecclesiology counter ]]this Gospel concern?

You interpret Ephesians 2:8-9 your way, relying on Luther, Calvin, Knox, Williams, Wesley, etc.
Catholics interpret Ephesians 2:8-9 through understanding the ]]Book of James and the Whole Counsel of God.

Which of these statements deny that salvation is a gift from God alone?
If Christ gives us the grace to live, move and have our being, which He requires us to do, why wouldn't He give us the grace for salvation and for any and all works (e.g., run the race, keep the faith, go and sin no more, give all that you have to the poor, and many other things that we're commanded to do, by Christ, Himself, as taught in the Holy Scriptures) both before, during and after this salvation?
I fail to see where the Roman Catholic Church did not consider Ephesians 2:8-9 in these bullets. Everything we have (except sinful things), everything we do (except sinful actions), everywhere we go (except sinful places) and everything we think (except sinful thoughts) are from God alone. Period.
A Catholic (or Christian of any stripe) is saved by grace through faith in Christ. Period.
According to The Bible Answer Man on ]]Wednesday:
A caller said he'd recently reverted to the Roman Catholic Church and was uncertain if it was the correct decision.
Mr. Hanegraaff asked him a few diagnostic questions to determine if he was saved, then proceeded to tell him that there are many saved Catholics and many unsaved Protestants. Hank ultimately assured this caller that being in the Roman Catholic Church is a-okay.
Since The Bible Answer Man, himself, with a worldwide platform, millions of books sold and member in good standing of the orthodox Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) validates that many Catholics are saved, then why all the hand-wringing to the contrary on this thread?
A Catholic (or Christian of any stripe) is saved by grace through faith in Christ. Period. To then pull the rug out from under their salvation by arguing that Catholics have more "graven images" or that they are worse "idolaters" than Protestants is only shooting Protestants' own movement in the foot.
Great Sermon! This is a great sermon. So many Christians today do not give our LORD the reverence he deserves. Sadly, it is an indication that the LORD is the one true God as people do not swear by Mohammed or Buddha since they are infinitely less, people swear by the greater.
It is his prerrogative how he runs his bussines. I think USA is doing a mistake trying to adapt itself to other people and idioms. That divides a nation because the origins of nations was language (Gen 11). In my country we speak spanish and when I go to other house I have to respect their rules. When I go to the States it's the same thing. God keeps on blessing USA. (by the way, sorry for my english)
Maybe it sounds too simple but what they need is discipline. It is just like the toddler angry trying to knock the head against the wall or throwing the toys to show the anger. Think in a soldier acting in that way, could you believe it? Can you imagine the Sargent making some kind of therapy? PS. Sorry for my english
