Of course, for a cult to deceive, it makes sense to use the best Bible available, thus lending a certain respect to their doctrines which, of course, are derived by taking verses out of their context, or by misunderstanding the plain text. It should be pointed out that despite the possession of the KJV, these cults place little value upon the Bible but rely heavily upon their own writings eg. the book of mormon. Jim Jones spoke very seldom from biblical sources. I remember the people's temple very well. |
