Hello Ms. Ladybug. I would say that the principle of not testing God applies to taking safety precautions such as a seat belt. Do we not jump off the cliff (not wear a seat belt) because God will command his angels to protect us? No, we are not supposed to put the Lord our God to the test. Yes, if God calls us home, it doesnt matter what our seatbelt is doing, we are going. What do you think?

With Mercy,

I gotcha. Thanks, that is a compelling scripture, but would you say that 1 Cor. 11:5 stands against the idea of an absolute prohibition against a woman ever opening her mouth and saying a single word in a church service? I think that submission is in view, and prophecy and tongues is the context of 14:34.

Teaching/authority over men is prohibited, but I just don't think we have a clear command to keep women from teaching children at church. I could be wrong, so let me know if you have something for me. Thanks

I am very encouraged from the little I have seen of the recent Kanye. It will take a little time to tell the genuineness, as was said. If it is a true conversion, and so far it looks that way, then it shows that God still saves sinners. This is a man that said "I am a god," and had an album called "Yeezus." Wow! God shows his power and mercy yet again.

Anyone with teaching authority, including women Sunday School teachers, is a church leader, but churches are selective in obedience to Scriptural directions on ecclesiastical practice.
Hey everybody (especially Dr. Tim), it's been awhile since I've really been on here. It's crazy how not much has changed ha. Anywho, my question is to you Neil. Do you oppose women teaching a children's Sunday school? It doesn't look like it from your comment, but I am just checking. Thanks

No shorts Frank? It’s hot in Florida!☺️ but I agree with the sentiment that one may have a conscience that sees it as disrespectful to God to dress at a certain level of casualness. On the other hand, I’d just like to say that there may be many reasons why people either dress up or down. One for dressing down could be modesty, financial modesty that is. Someone could not wear there nicer shoes or shirts and opt for a more plain or casual piece so as to not make people who don’t have nice clothes to feel at ease. I’d say most of us here can agree that it is a matter of conscience before the Lord with a few guiding principles in scripture, but nothing direct.

Your comment does not make sense to me, sorry. Are you saying Paul contradicted himself, that Titus should have been circumcised to meet the standard of holiness without which no one will see the Lord?

Unprofitable Servant, I appreciate your carefulness in condemning a brother, but defending heresy is not holy. Tell me, have they not time and time again very strongly implied that those who sing songs, celebrate a day, or use the wrong words in a salutation are not saved? This is works salvation, which is very different from keeping the commandments (and these are not commandments) out of love for God.

3 But even Titus, who was with me, was not forced to be circumcised, though he was a Greek.
4 Yet because of false brothers secretly brought in-who slipped in to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into slavery-
5 to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you. - Galatians 2:3-5 ESV

Sc wrote:
“If you are a Christian and you have to celebrate days, you may want to examine yourself to see if you are in the faith.”

John UK wrote in response:
“It’s a good point, SC.”

It is one thing to have a misunderstanding of the gospel, and it is another to propagate vehemently a false gospel. This “gospel” that Sc and John UK are teaching is not good news at all and is therefore not the gospel handed down by Jesus to the apostles. It is based off of works. You must believe in Jesus, but also not celebrate any days. If you do celebrate a day you are not saved. This is false teaching coming from false teachers. I’d say it is high time that everyone on here who knows the real gospel stop treating these people as brothers. If you also believe that they are false teachers, then you are in disobedience to scripture to treat them as brothers in Christ. Show me if I am wrong, thank you.

Wayfarer, I believe you were just called a half-hearted Protestant for saying give thanks for a new year. Good thing that is not what Jesus defines as being luke-warm.
