Obligeth it me to point out that on this thread 2 women which vaunteth their Christ mindedness nevertheless contrary to Rom 14.1 did doubtfully dispute and not only scorneth those of weaker faith, but did much dispute and contend to exhaust the patience of the weaker brethren and then when it was pointed out to them that their vaunting was in vain because for they didst judge the brethren (contrary to Rom 14.4) they did much clamor (contrary to Prov 9.13) to be justified and didst continue without abating to be contentious (Prov 27.15) and wouldst not hearken to the admonitions or rebukes of the brethren but did fairly dissimulate holiness, sobriety and godly wisdom to lord it over God's heritage (contrary to 1 Peter 5.3). The brethren being exhausted wisheth for the desert (Prov 21.19) so that their sore trial may be over.
Witnesseth the brethren the same?

Geff,
No not good riddance.
GS has been on this forum for quite awhile, and has been a benefit to many of us.
How rude your comment was.

Romans 14 is a specific teaching to do with non-essentials.
Nowhere in God's Word will one find the command:"Thou shalt not drink a glass of wine".

But some become rather strident if others refuse to be drawn into their way of thinking.
Repeating what one "believes" does not make it true. What makes it true is Scripture ALONE

Stiff neckness is not a fruit of the Spirit.

Ladybug..thank you. What a dear sister you are!

One verse that the Lord had brought to my remembrance over these past months:"Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee". Isaiah 26:3.

...
B. Mc

Personally I believe it is the tone in which you state your convictions that is being challenged on here.
Not to be rude, but it comes across as almost dictatorial.

Anyway, this is my last comment on this secondary issue.

Good evening.

Brother Observer,
Thank you for weighing in on this secondary issue that is the never ending story on this forum.

We are abstainers, but have been over the years in fellowship with other believers who drank wine on occasion with their meal.
It was/has never been a test of fellowship or an issue on our part or theirs.

We are fully persuaded that it is the right and duty of every Christian to determine for themselves what God's Word teaches.
"For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat".
Job 34:3.
"Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind".
Romans 14:5b.

Well hello dear sister.
I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through deep waters. I shall pray for you generally- for strength, clarity, endurance, patience and continuance in well doing, unless you have a specific request.
I know how you feel about the same 'ol subjects time and again and how wearisome this can be, and a break is often needed.
Like yourself I pray often for everyone here, as I recall them, including yourself.
The Lord does hear, and what a blessing that is.
What a wonderful verse is Lam 3.22.
May the Lord be present to hold you all the way through the trial and in the meantime cause you to rejoice in Him all the same.
Blessings to you and yours!
Thank you for your kindness and prayers, brother.

This is a physical trial that has wearied me mentally and I need prayer for direction and trust in His Wisdom and Goodness so my heart will be kept in peace, no matter what the outcome may be.

Good to see you posting again as you have been missed.

God's richest blessings to you and yours.

Blessings to you; thank you for your concern. God is so good and very merciful to me and I praise Him for His faithfulness.
I am glad you asked about sister Dorcas, I was just thinking of her earlier. I pray she blesses us with a response.
Dear ladybug,
What a kindness from the Lord to see Observer's and your enquiry of me.
As is common with God's children I am passing through deep waters at the present time. I do check in to read SOME of the postings but there are still the same tired old arguements (bible versions, politics, the pope, even this months old thread resurrected again.. )

I do remember you all often and you are in my prayers.

"it is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not".Lamentations 3:22.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, dear ones.

Greetings to my brothers and sisters in Christ-

Just popped in to share a praise..our great grandson was born a few days ago on my husbands birthday...

The nonsense concerning politics has really brought the worst out in some who post here...but there are also some who continue to post heresy, coddling of those in rebellion to Gods Word, support of apostate religion, ecumenism, etc....sigh!

Back to hibernation.

Peace and Grace.

Sister ladybug,
I am going back into my hibernation mode, but wanted to thank and encourage you, and Frank for your Biblcal stance and staying on track.
Some on this forum have been showing their own self-serving agenda and are inventing their own "novel ideas" of what the church should be.No one has the prerogative to fabricate his/her own doctrine.
Christ alone is the Great Shepherd and the true church's Head, and only those who recognize His authority and bow to it unconditionally have any right to call themselves Christians. All the rest are tares.

Blessings to all who are in Christ.

Ladybug,
Getting back to your points...a woman who teaches, and preaches is doing what is forbidden by Scripture, she is NOT to assume the part of ruling or lording over the man. When she attempts this she goes out of her proper place, and ventures upon a line of things which is not compatible either with her natural constitution or with her distinctive vocation.
And in proof of this, Paul the apostle appeals to the original order and course of things as marking out the great landmarks for ALL TIME and GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATIONS.
1Timothy 2:13-15.

Any 'pastor' who encourages a woman to publicly teach/preach a mixed congregation is not qualified to be a 'pastor', and needs to repent of this sin.

Not trying to project myself into this debacle on here, but wanted to encourage you that I too noticed the similar misspelled words and other similarities between the said posters.
Time for hibernation for a season for me.

Blessings to you and yours.

Perhaps we would all do well to remember:

"Rebuke not an elder, but entreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren".
"The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity".
1Timothy 5:1-2.

All longtime posters as well as new ones, would do well if we practiced these admonitions with one another.

Mr. Bridges stated in one of his books that the little known biblical character of Enoch is an illustration of a godly man.
The Bible says little about Enoch, but what it does say helps us understand what godliness is.
"He walked with God" Gen. 5:22
"He pleased God" Hebrews 11:5
and in Jude 14-15 he is depicted as deeply concerned about the ungodly society in which he lived.
He was, as far as the biblical record shows,an ordinary man.
Not a leader like Moses, nor a warrior like David, nor an outstanding goverment official like Daniel, but he was a godly man, who walked with God and pleased God.
May God give His children the grace every day to walk with their God and be pleasing in His sight.
