Jim: I will not speculate what Mr. Pence and this other group of people relationship to God is,

Isn’t that what you do every day on SA?

Jim says,

"Don't like abortion? make sure the potential mother at least doesn't have a financial excuse for having an abortion."

Financial excuse? What if I make 6 figures a year, and decide that's not enough money to raise another child? It's all relative. And who's to say "what amount is enough"?

You know these issues go deeper than the economy, yet you troll on here like you're going to be the liberal savior of SermonAudio.

Your comments are disgusting and you should fear the God who made you.

DF- correction, Vermont does have Walmart. I just vacationed there in January- ski trip- and was able to shop at Walmart. And I have to say it was probably the nicest Walmart I’ve ever seen.

Good afternoon Dr. Tim,

I understand your jest- I agree with you and many others regarding self defense and the defense of others (from the articles regarding the Texas church shooter).

However, is killing this Iranian general the same or different scenario?

I honestly don't have an opinion yet... I don't know enough of the details of what he's done or what he was planning to do, if anything. But some things to consider... In a just war, generals get killed. Are we at war? Is it a just war? Therefore, is his killing lawful by Biblical standards? Or was this taking vengeance?

So many questions that I do not have answers to, but I figured I'd put them out there to see if you or anyone else has helpful answers. I think we as Christians should take these questions seriously- we were ALL made in His image.

John UK, Ok.

What value then do you find in the OT? Not trying to belittle, just trying to understand your thinking.

John UK, may I ask why you want a specific reference from the NT?

It will be ‘divine providence’ if all goes well for Democrats. If not, put God aside because it will no doubt be the Republicans fault, yada yada yada. Save your breath, lady.

Frank,

I understand God’s law and I don’t debate you on murder. But thankfully we aren’t eternally cut off from God- we understand our sin because the Holy Spirit has convicted us under the law. God graciously gave us a lifeline- his Son.

These women most likely aren’t convicted because they don’t understand their own depravity. So just telling them they’re wrong isn’t enough- they need to hear the Gospel as well. This is what I took away from the article- people showing grace and love towards sinners in a directed and thoughtful way, therefore modeling to them the grace that God graciously extends.

If only these women were as righteous as Frank.

I am pretty sure that your ‘holier than thou’ attitude standing outside an abortion clinic would do little to save lives or spread the gospel to the women who desperately need it.

"To do evil a human being must first of all believe that what he's doing is good, or else that it's a well-considered act in conformity with natural law. Fortunately, it is in the nature of the human being to seek a justification for his actions...Ideology- That is what gives evildoing its long-sought justification and gives the evildoer the necessary steadfastness and determination. That is the social theory which helps to make his acts seem good instead of bad in his own and others' eyes, so that he won't hear reproaches and curses but will receive praise and honors....Thanks to ideology, the twentieth century was fated to experience evildoing on a scale calculated in the millions. This cannot be denied, nor passed over, nor suppressed." -Alexsandr Solzhenitsyn, 'The Gulag Archipelago'

Jim, your unbiblical political ideologies are simply evil. Focusing on what you like/dislike about the Graham family will not hide this fact.

Well said US. And Jim, I don’t know if you’ve watched PBS lately, but last I checked Sesame Street and Arthur have been trying to tell my children that having two moms or two “married” men is normal. I’d rather my tax dollars be used to build new roads and protect our nation, not indoctrinate my children.

Something is fishy about this. This whole situation- the fact that in the end all of the children were taken away- could have maybe been solved with clear communication. Why didn't the mom just tell the doctor they weren't going to the hospital? The article made it seem like she then told the doctor she would go to the hospital, but then she never showed up. I assume it's standard protocol for hospitals and police to respond if they're expecting a sick child who never shows up. Also, why didn't the parents communicate with the police for the hours they were outside their door? Or if they did communicate (the article makes it seem like they didn't), why didn't they call an attorney? Just reading the article makes it seem like this whole situation could have been avoided. There could be more to the story. Poor children.

By the way Chris G P from England, did the article say what type of family they were? The only thing I noticed about the family in the article was the neighbor labeling the mom as a "good mother". I get your point though.

My Own 2 Cents:

You like Tim because he doesn’t “beat around the bush to stroke egos”. That’s fine. Do you want to share the gospel?

Take Senator Hirono for example. She had a father who was an alcoholic and stole all their money to gamble and buy himself things. He neglected their family, so her mother eventually emigrated to America with her children, alone. Senator Hirono then grew up in our public education system and went on to study law at Georgetown.

When or where do you think she ever heard the gospel? It’s easy for us to point fingers at this woman and say how she should act, but if you were to sit in her office and tell her that her duty is to return home and tend to the kitchen, do you think she will love Christ?

And what if there are young women out there right now, without fathers or anyone else to look up to, searching for truth, and they stumble across comments from professing Christians that women merely belong in the kitchen? Do you think that will win them to Christ?

Have empathy for this woman. She’s a Buddhist in her 70’s, sitting in an office above her husband, fighting for the democratic party and their wickedness. Pray that she hears the gospel first and foremost.

Tim (and others),

Where in my comments did I say it was a good thing that we have women sitting as senators? Where in my comments did I say a woman's priorities are not tending to her family (if she has one)?

My Own 2 Cents:

Titus 2:3-4
Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,

(enter your text from Titus 2:5)

Titus 2:6-8
Likewise urge the young men to be sensible; in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.

We live in a world that celebrates feminism. To say in a public forum that a woman's place is simply in the kitchen or doing laundry is shallow and not helping to share the gospel. We should speak the truth, yes, and speak it gently. And, like I said earlier, know how to respond to each person (Proverbs 15:1). We (men especially) need to have sound doctrine and be "sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us."

"step up to the stove, the sink and the washing machine and perform the role God intended for her"

Proverbs 15:1
A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

Colossians 4:6
Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.

We never know who else is reading on SermonAudio...

To Plain Old Tim:

I do not agree with this senator’s nasty remarks. She represents those in the left who openly rebel (regardless of the Kavanaugh situation). However, it’s men who speak like you who throw gasoline on the fire. A major reason we have so many women in high ranking government roles is because of men who have systematically mistreated women over the years, which is imbibed in your statement. You should sit down with your church elders and have them work through Proverbs 31 with you. The author of this Proverb holds women in high regard and does not belittle or is not condescending to them in their duties as women.

"The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;"

OK, thanks for that direction to the appropriate text. My next question: Are the debts (that which our property tax dollars are allocated for) themselves constitutional? Don't they have to be in order to create and/or sustain a tax on the people?

Jim, don't tell me property taxes are constitutional- prove it instead. And don't put an article up with someone else's interpretation please.
