We didn't even get a break for a day thus time. Of course, the liberals will just wax not so eloquently about gun control, the strength of our communities, how we need to protect our children, so on and so forth. It's the same thing played out over and again while our nation continue in its stupor.
That certainly is the usual alternative. My family doesn't go to Whole Foods as much as we used to, but when we did there we were given many witnessing opportunities with the employees on account of the size of our family and the fact that we just stood out. To our knowledge no one was saved but God used us (particularly my parents) to plant gospel seeds. Communities and societies will be changed for the better by working from the bottom up. The hope is that it will reach the corporate office. It certainly isn't beyond God!
In that case I suppose we'll have to boycott almost every retail or online store, every restaurant, every foreign made good, every service and only eat at Chick-fil-A and shop at Hobby lobby. Then again, they probably purchase their products from pagan companies. Boycotts are generally a waste of time. I'm doubtful the apostle Paul only sold his tents to the righteous.
We certainly have human pigs as well. Just look around at any restaurant.
On a more serious note, one would think the Chinese (based on previous limit pushing scientific endeavors) would have been the first do this, not the Japanese. How sad to see what may be the most intelligent and technologically advanced nation in the world using it's genius for evil.
Debt is unheard of in our part of Mississippi. We don't need gas guzzling cars cuz our horses graze their own fuel for the monthly ride to town. Some of our more advanced folks have high speed goat carts, but they eat all our tin cans which we save for scrapping. We don't get home loans on account of our homes being made from pine logs and southern red clay. And of course, we supplement our diet of soft vegetables (on account of low tooth density) with 'possum, coon, armadillo, and the occasional cranky rooster. I hear conditions are similar for Christopher the Rhode Island rabbit herder and his neighbors. Never knew there was a middle class until I read this hete article. The simple life indeed.
My hope is that the shooter will receive a speedy conviction and a speedy administering of capital punishment. My expectation is that the former may occur, and the latter probably won't.
"The exercise of justice is joy to the righteous, but terror to the workers of iniquity." That's somewhere in Proverbs, and is another indicator of this country's lack of righteousness. All our politicians talk about in this regard is lightening sentences - and the problem gets worse.
Last I read it was twenty dead and twenty-four injured. Another glaring example of the utter depravity of mankind. I've thought many times before how a Walmart could be an easy target for someone with these sort of intentions. We have some friends who are scheduled to move to El Paso before the month is up - can't imagine the concerns they have now...
"Dr. Tim from Land of Cotton writes: ... I love watching them all, from the little hummies to the wild turkeys, and wildlife from caterpillars to bison. Fascinating stuff, and it sure makes me want to fall on my face before my Creator."
Hummers, turkey, and bison (interestingly, small herds of forest bison lived in the Mississippi pine woods before European settlement) are all certainly reminders of our artistic, powerful masterfully creative Creator. But for me, every time I pick a sausage-sized (ok maybe they're a little smaller) caterpillar off a tomato plant that now looks more like a oak tree in winter, I'm reminded of the curse of sin on the creation. I guess before the fall caterpillars ate more reasonable servings of foliage?
It's one of those things we can't stomach the thought of happening, but this sort of thing is just another example of sinful man distorting God's order. Scientists can be the worst about this because of the God complex they get from their wealth of information and innovation. They think they can create a heaven on Earth, but they will accomplish exactly the opposite. As 1517 lead to, evolution justifies this sort of behavior.
Although it can be difficult for us finite humans to think about anything beyond our own lifetimes, Christ may not return for another 2019 years for all we know. I say we occupy to His glory until He does!
If only christians took the command to be fruitful and multiply seriously! After all, why would christian parents not want the opportunity to raise as many children as they can to the glory of God? See Psalm 127. Let the humanists depopulate themselves while we welcome more children. Overpopulation is one of the biggest myths ever conjured up by the modern world. While they do hold to some very shaky theological views, having to share this nation with people as quiet and peaceful as the amish wouldn't bother me at all. Politically speaking they wouldn't change anything because they don't vote or get involved in politics. Let's just hope that the Muslims don't populate enough in this country to start a jihad against the rest of us.
Our government schools have their own Xie Jiao - political correctness. And whether American parents realize or not, our public schools indoctrinate children into materialistic atheism just as thoroughly (though perhaps not as aggressively) as their chinese counterparts. Add to that the fact that when they get home they immerse themselves in pop culture via their smartphones and computers, and you've an extremely effective humanist discipleship program.
A classic example of why the state should not be giving handouts in any way, shape, or form. Whether rich, poor, or somewhere in-between, there will be those that take advantage of the system at the expense of the honest. Local, accountable, thrifty, God-fearing charities are the best way to help the needy.
"The Quiet Christian writes: Gotherdism is extremely conservative. What sometimes happens with people who try to force themselves into such a model without the Holy Spirit working with their heart is that they can fall away."
So very true! There are always movements like gothardism sprouting up and bringing lots of people in because they look clean on the outside. Years ago my own family went to an ATI conference after being invited by some friends who were all about it. There were lots of big families, all were modestly dressed, and every child was homeschooled (all of which I believe are good things). They even had some good resources to offer. But we all agreed later on that something was missing. Something about a lot (not necessarily all) of the families seemed manufactured and molded. Most of the resources that ATI/IBLP offer are basically arminian spiritual self help. I've observed more than one family (including that invited us to that conference) go off the deep end after getting all caught up in IBLP. Trying to dust our sin off by attempting to follow a particular mold will always result in spiritual disaster. That being said, some of the resources from IBLP proved quite my own family and others who are walking with the Lord. The danger lies in trying to identify o
