Great Sermon! What a tremendous sermon! Pastor Fortner passed into glory on 4/29/2020, but if this sermon doesn't make you excited to join him and his Savior, nothing will.
It's obvious what I need to do in response to this study: eat a double burger while driving my Hummer to the airport to fly on a trip to India where I will preach on the importance of having as many children as you possibly can.
My wife and I are too old to have children ourselves or I'd be doing everything I could in that regard, also.
This is sad news indeed. Where will I go now to buy all my Jesus crystals and cross shaped good luck charms and books by such renowned Christian minds as Rush Limbaugh and Joel Osteen?
I hope these allegations are not true, but my gut tells me they are. I will withhold judgement until more is announced; however I have to say I am not surprised.
My parents sent me to BYC 40 years ago when I was a rebellious teenager. I did not like it, and would not recommend it to anyone. I couldn't put my finger on it at the time, but later I realized it was nothing but a lot of works-righteousness and legalism. It seemed suspicious to me that all the things the Bible said we were to do were the things Bill G. liked to do and the things that Bill G. didn't like were - surprise! - forbidden by "true" reading of the Scriptures.
I remember in one session Bill G. told us one way to tell if music was sinful was if it made you unconsciously tap your foot!
Many years later as an adult, I was serving as Sunday School superintendent at our church. Our pastor approached me and asked if I would like to attend BYC for ideas to improve our SS. I told him I did not and if he insisted, I would resign. He was surprised, but decent enough to not force the issue.
