I believe that we should leave Family Planning totally in God's hands, and neither attempt to control birth by contraceptive methods, or promote it by an infertile woman taking fertility drugs.

I know of large Christian families where there was no way that they could "afford" another child, but they trusted God, and knew that if he gave them another, he would provide for it. He did.

I also know of Christian families (one in particular, but this isn't the only case around, by any means) where the parents would have loved to have a lot of children, but after many conceptions and nearly as many miscarriages, they only have one child. They understand that God is in control, and God truly has worked all things together for the good of his people and for his glory -- with the ministry these people are in they do a lot of travelling, and it would make it more difficult for them if they had a lot of children. God has all things under control, and only gave them one.

I also know of couples where the wife has been infertile for many years. They wanted to have children, but didn't believe in taking fertility drugs, and instead prayed to God. He heard them. And he gave them children!

" 'Global Warming is Lies' Claims Documentary"

If that really is what the documentary claims, then it makes you wonder where the makers of the said documentary studied grammar...

Surely by anyone's standards, "Global Warming is Lies" is appalling grammar!

Right. I remember seeing some by "fdlka" but hadn't noticed they'd been deleted. I don't remember what they said, but obviously if they were deleted I wouldn't want to know either!

That's OK, Chris M! I don't understand the reference to "fiddlesticks from Al-Jazeera", but it certainly isn't wise to give too much personal information, and I wasn't going to give any more details!

Thanks for your answer, Chris M. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner...

I also believe that there are believers and unbelievers (Christians and non-Christians), and when asked what my religion is, would say "Christian" rather than do what some people would, and say "Anglican", "Baptist", "Presbyterian", etc. since none of those are religions, but rather denominations.

In part I agree with the view you stated in your post, but I also believe in Purity of Worship, which often you wouldn't necessarily find in your local church.

For your information, I attend, and am a member of, a conservative Presbyterian Church.

But whatever differing beliefs we may have, as long as we repent, and believe on Jesus Christ for salvation, as he is offered to us in the gospel, then "we are all one in Christ Jesus".

Anonymous c said:

"I wonder what your name is anonymous b?"

Anonymous c, I could ask you the same question!

I rarely post on SermonAudio (this is the first thread I've had more than one post). I'd probably done 2 or 3 posts before this thread. I called myself Anonymous to start with, but then discovered there was another Anonymous, so came up with "AnonymousB"!

I think I also used to say I was from the Southern Hemisphere, but decided to be more specific. So, which country are you from, Anonymous c?

Romans 13,

I'm sorry if I was rather hasty in my reply to you before.

I'll look at the Embassy of Heaven website when I get a chance.

Thanks!

Hillary Watcher / Romans 13 (since you seem to be the same person)

Once again, you didn't read my post properly. I said nothing in there about blending light and darkness, or compromising with the world. I believe those are both totally unbiblical. I would rather lose a job and starve than do a job which would compromise my Christianity, and besmirch the name of Jesus Christ.

And by the way, I didn't say anything whatsoever about not thinking that God's Word is a sword. Ephesians 6:17, talking about the Armour of God, says "The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

I don't think there is any point in me replying to your posts until you read mine properly.

AlanH, glad to help! I agree with what you wrote in your posts. I guess mine was really directed at Hillary Watcher, and I hoped it would clarify to him/her some things you said implicitly, if not explicitly! I also agree that it's hard to write exactly what you mean when you have a limited amount of space, and not all the time in the world to work out how to fit everything you need to say into a few paragraphs!

Hillary Watcher, I agree with the texts you quoted (I believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God), but I think if you reread my post you'll find that some of the texts you quoted have no relevance as a reply to my post. I didn't say that we should trust in governments, or any other people, I said that we should obey them in all things which don't transgress God's laws.

You said "Actually we are to be in resistance to the government as the early church was, which is why the government was after them, and why so many were killed."

Could you please give me some evidence that the early Christian martyrs in general were killed because they resisted the government in things other than those which, without resistance, would have involved these Christians breaking God's laws? I understood that these Godly people were martyred because they believed in Jesus, and would not do some things required by the governments, which if done, would be breaking God's laws. Thank you.

(It is possible, I suppose, that there may have been a few misguided Christian martyrs who did, in fact, resist governments even in things which weren't going against God's laws. However, as far as I know, that wasn't the case with the early church in general.)

May I clarify some plain Biblical teaching, which it seems that some people have not understood correctly?

First, as an example:

The Bible says "Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord." (Colossians 3:20)

This doesn't mean that children should obey parents in everything (i.e. if parents require them to do wicked things -- in such a case the children "ought to obey God rather than man"), but they should obey their parents "IN THE LORD, for this is right." (Ephesians 6:1) [capital lettering mine]

The same applies with governments.
To use some texts which Alan H quoted earlier... (There's another text I want too, but I can't find it quickly.)...

“Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.” (Exodus 22:28)

“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”
(Romans 13:1)

God commands us to obey the governments of this world, BUT, if the governents require us to do wicked things, then we "ought to obey God rather than man" (Acts 5:29), as Hillary Watcher rightly quoted in a previous post.

Well, I've had my say now. I hope this helps some people!
