There is nothing particular about the word "whosoever" nor "believeth."

The offer is to the "world" and to "whosoever." If Jesus meant the elect he could have just said it.

The Dehvastating Truth is that he does not only say it here, but he never in all of his discourses mentions it. In fact there is nowhere in the Scripture where salvation is clearly taught that gives any hint of it being particular to the elect.

I prescribe you a good working dictionary.

Actually it can be found right in the pages of God's word.

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world..."

It's quite simple, really.

If I find a simple declarative statement, would you submit to it?

Wrong again.

That's why you need to stop basing your theology on deductive reasoning.

If you do not agree with the pastor, the solution is simple: Find a different church.

Get over it.

Amen to the Scriptures. Now if I can only get you to believe it.

Oh, wretched sinner out there, if I am the only one in here you will here this from, so be it, but listen clear.

God loves you. Yes you. He died for you! He desires YOU to repent and come to his loving arms. There is no sin too deep where his grace cannot reach.

And while others stammer at this truth, while others are reluctant to scream it from the housetops I want you to hear it from me.: God does not only love an elite few. No my friend. Rest assured: God loves you! God loves you! GOD LOVES YOU!!!

No need to change the topic to the chip on your shoulder.

If by synod you mean church council, then I suppose you are right. But if you mean by the presbytery form of government where a centralized body governs all local churches within its jurisdiction then you are once again mistaken.

One of the pillars of the baptist is the autonomy of the local church. They would never submit themselves to such church polity as the one you prescribe. Otherwise they would not be Baptists.

A convention is nothing more than a club. There are benefits to being perks the church gets for being part of it. There is no hierachy like the presbyterian form of government.

The only thing that the churches who left will suffer is the perks that came along with being part of the convention.

But if you want to believe otherwise, then it makes no difference to me. Maybe you would stop complaining about Baptists not having no accountability now since most Baptists churches are part of one form of convention or other.

You can't complain about them not having a presbytery and then make a 360 and say that they do have one.

You may have to tell that to your Calvinist theologians that wrote plenty of book addressing the subject.

It's called allowing God to mean what he states and state what he means.

You should try it one time. It really works.

A convention is not quite like a presbytery.

I have no problem with the sovereignty of God so I am not sure what everyone's beef is concerning that issue.

The question is if he is sovereign enough for the Calv's to allow him to speak for himself and accepting the fact that he means what he states and states what he means.

Or is the sovereighnty of God merely a theory that makes everyone feel good that they are elected.

To My Calvinist Brethren,
Ok. This is getting too funny. The mental picture I have is of three girls and a boy: Mary, Jane, and Yamil. Mary is upset at Yamil and instead of talking to Yamil directly, she tells Jane, "Jane, tell Yamil that..."

lol

To the rest, of the post I say: Ha!

You may want to rephrase the original post that you gave me. You can either ask one question at a time or do not phrase it as if you are trying to answer your own question and asking me whether I agree with your answer.

What is faith?

According to Hebrews 11:1 I believe faith is a sincere belief and dependence on the promise of God based on objective revelation that moves one to a positive response.

I hope that suffices.

Then maybe you should be honest enough to state: "I do not like your answer," or maybe "Can you clarify your answer?"

But to state that I did not answer is quite disingeneous in your part.

If you do not like a "yes" or "no" answer then do not ask a "yes" or "no" question.

God states what he means and means what he states.

I hate to break it to you but "calling" does not equal "salvation." The only dictionary that would define it as such would be the one found in the F_anciful L_and of the Calvinist. Once again you fall into your zealous trap of fabricating meaning to words that do not exist anywhere except within your own theological system.

It's not as hard as you would like it to be.

For someone who is suppose to shun me, you sure can't resist responding to me.

Do not worry. I understand that I am irrisistible.

I Corinthians 1:26-28 has nothing to do with salvation, let alone unconditional election. Salvation has nothing to do with fools and wise. God saves both. Read it for yourself.

R. K. Borill wrote:
Yamil has failed to answer the question except with more evidence of his being confused.
Some more intellectual dishonesty. You must've conveniently missed the part when I said:

"No. It is not so with me. But yes, I agree with your analysis, although you did not even answer your own question."

And that's the way the cookie crumbles.

A complete 180 from the way your looking at things.
You are applying modern English grammar to Shakesperean english. Nowhere in the Bible are personal pronouns to God capitalized, even in more obvious situations than this. Just because it is not capitalize does not mean that it does not reffer to God.

The Bible makes it very clear that Jesus Christ is the firstborn in the family of God.

Sorry, Terry, I am going to have to consent to JD on this one. The firstborn is always a reference to Christ being the first one to rise from the dead.
