I used to teach Sociology at a local college, and when the topic turned to the integration of Muslims, one thing I always liked to show was an old video I had gotten from a missionary friend of mine. It was taken in Mexico of a Catholic woman who was crawling across a cobblestone courtyard on her knees in order to kiss the feet of a statue. She left trails of blood as she crawled... Obviously in pain, but with the mindset that kissing that statue was of more importance than personal comfort. Most Catholics in America go to church on Saturday night so they wonât have to get up early on Sunday morning The correlation is this: NEVER judge an international religion by the American counterpart. Americans are lazy and focused on comfort, and donât take God seriously⌠And as an aside, I would even place most believers in that category as well⌠Not just Muslims and Catholics. Just saying.
This is almost, but not quite, as sad as the who fired first debate between Solo and Greedo. And just as productive. Letâs sum it up: none of us were alive when it happened. The perspectives are varied and controversial. And NONE of us will ever really know all of the facts until we see Heaven, (or the other place for some... but letâs not start throwing names toward THAT destination right now.) So, letâs all go out and do something for Christ, and stop the ignorant bickering. Just saying.
Well Frank, Trump is a politician. To believe that he is genuine in anything is a stretch. That said, in the past God has even used heathen kings in His plan. Even if it is to usher in the end. Just saying.
So.... I am to be impressed by your âprophecyâ of Trump being stymied by the liberals over border wall funding and declaring a national emergency to get it accomplished? I believe Sean Hannity âprophesiedâ that a few months ago, when The President first started threatening to do that very thing. Oh, and the all-caps are a tad overdoing it. Just saying.
More important projects? Like studying the effects of cows farting on Global warming? Or something even more important, like the huge pay raise congress gives to themselves yearly? Or maybe even that awesome health care package THEY have? Oooh, I know, it is the money needed to extend Muellers investigation another 6 years. Just saying.
Disneyâs theme is to âFollow your heart,â and that is exactly what they are doing. Too bad they never read Jeremiah 17:9 âThe heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?â
I preached recently at a prison, and afterwards I had a young man come up, offended, and insisted that I was leading people astray. He âknewâ he had seen in the Bible where we were going to stand before God, and all the good things we had done were going to be put on one scale, and all the bad things we have done on the other side of the scale⌠Whichever one weighed out would determine our entrance to heaven. I explained to him that that particular passage (nor doctrine) was not in the Bibleâbut he insisted he had seen it âSomewhere.â
The problem is that few are talking about what this really is. It is not about womenâs rights, or saving the mothers physical or mental health. It all comes down to making euthanasia one step closer to being socially acceptable. That is the goal: to kill non-viable members of society. It will culminate with the final decision of who is viable not being the physicians or the parents, but the government itself. That is scary.
What do you think of this thesis statement: The problem Christian's face in the Creationism versus evolutionism debate is the tendency for people to treat it like a court trial; the Creationists have become the prosecuting attorney, who must work to build a rock solid, irrefutable case⌠the evolutionists are simply defense attorneys whose only need is to cast reasonable doubt on the Creationists assertions. The fact is, science, by rule of its own nature, can afford to be wrong⌠it can afford to find a new and better answer... it can be proven wrong, and not suffer negative consequencesâand evolution disguises itself as science. This is why it is so important to ONLY discuss facts, and not supposition. Too many times, Creationists end up acting like the defense attorney⌠throwing out non-facts and ill conceived hypotheses to the world, hoping to cast a reasonable doubt on evolution⌠but when those errors come to light, it has the opposite effect, and simply makes our case look weak.
Christopher000 I appreciate the kind words, and will be praying for your situation. Honestly, I started several years ago for three reasons: 1.) To keep me sharper on a daily basis as part of my study. 2.) To give my wife and kids proof that I am in my Bible. 3.) To give them a launching point for their day before their devotions. I like to write, and have several books published, fiction and non-fiction (and unfortunately have fallen behindâI have several that I need to finish, but lack time.)
John UK, assuming you meant me. (No PH though....) Lol, I wrote that today. I write and text out a short devotion to my wife and kids every day, and it so happened that todayâs coincided with this discussion.
âSo God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.â (Genesis⏠â1:27âŹ)- Man was created in the image of God. There has been a lot of speculation over the years on what exactly that means: does it mean physicallyâthat God is bipedal? Does it mean conceptuallyâreferring to our three parts: Spirit, body, and soul? Does it mean philosophicallyâreferring to our ability to choose good and evil? Maybe it means all three. However, for the Christian it takes on new meaning. Mankind was created in the image of God, but we are called to ACT like Christ. Consider the attributes: holy, righteous, merciful, giving, loving, compassionate... the list can go on and on... but ask yourself; are you acting like Christ? If not, isnât it time for us to start?
Sorry; note that in my initial response I mentioned they âdid absolutely nothing for God.â They are not recorded as doing anything beyond birth of notoriety. It was Samuelâs children who were Rebellious and followed an evil path.
Think about it from this perspective: two great men in the Bible; Moses, and Samuel⌠what do they have in common? Other than doing mighty things for God, they are known for having children who did absolutely nothing for God. (Samuelâs children actually followed the path of Eliâs children and did evil⌠Which is why the children of Israel rejected them from leadership.) How could two men so well used by God have horrible children? Because their children stood on the shoulders of giants⌠Never learning to have a relationship with God themselves. They relied on their daddyâs religion, and did not cultivate that closeness with God. The problem with children today is the exact same. We the parents arenât teaching them to have a relationship with God. We expect them to see our relationship, and do it themselves. The blame is ours. We need to train our children.
