This is not just a classroom problem but also a worship service problem. As much as I like the convenience of a cellphone I'm starting to resent them. We now have a hugely popular invention which is used without any discretion or etiquette whatsoever. |

Let us not forget that the USA is a democratic republic and may not favor one religion over another. That has been it's strength and is also becoming it's weakness as Christianity becomes merely another player among Islam, atheism, paganism, etc. Like it or not, we are entering a new era of secularism (this transition has taken over 200 years) and it really is naive to believe that somehow the Christian worldview will still be able to dominate in the marketplace of ideas. American Christians today feel like they have failed in using the secular government to maintain the Christian moral ethics. That was a misplaced hope for the truth is that the Church of Jesus Christ is advanced not through political reform, anarchy, war, Or activism, but through the one-at-a-time heart conversion of true believers. This is where the church has failed and is failing by living lives that are beyond reproach. For the most part Christians' lives are not much different than that of a unbelieving neighbor. They watch the same movies and TV programs, divorce at the same rate, use the same coarse language when provoked, etc. Is fornication and adultery unheard of among us?
