John wrote:
I don't hear of any of these people drinking poison during their
worship services, which is surely inconsistent on their part, since
the passage in Mark mentions holding snakes AND drinking poisons.
Then again, it's MUCH easier for non-cessationsts to FAKE the former
than the latter.
As long as they can avoid being bitten they're fine, but if they
drink "any deadly thing" they'd BETTER have Brother Ralph on hand
with his "sanctified" stomach pump, or they're TOAST!
With the authority of the church and it's leaders established, and
the Bible itself completed by the end of the 1st century, all those
fancy miraculous gifts which the non-cessationsists love so much are
simply no longer needed.
They are at best a distraction, and at worse, HERESY.
God bless you; this is one that you and
I agree on 100%

Someone in the Bible said, your money perish with you.
A better question, why do "christians" send money to any of these people.
Jesus said, and the violent take it by force, is buying your way to heaven, using force, or is that good works, does it take away your conviction, your sin.
The blind will always be there to lead the blind, you will find what your looking for, so sad.
We have a Great God, He will give you the desires of your heart, it is written. Even the not so good ones.
That you should believe a lie.
Terry,
I doubt we will find many Christians
in this group.

As you said, the blind lead the blind.

Hello JP, I remember when I learned these verses and the great peace they brought to me. And, for that reason, I would like to share them with you.
Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Rom 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Also, the verse/verses about being joint heirs with Christ. Which I will try to find...
God Bless you "Susan Miller" The only
way JP will realize these truths is
if God opens his BLIND eyes.

Rightly dividing the Word does not mean ignore inconsistencies. In fact it means quite the opposite.
As I said before. The subjects were "wives" and "husbands." Nothing about victims and victimizers.
I am glad that you believe in eternal security. Then you must believe that God will not divorce his bride. Otherwise, the whole picture would be nonsensical at the very least.
The argument is not about who is perfect and who is not. I happen to believe that divorce can be forgiven like any other sin. This does not mean that it is not sin as you would like to think. If you want to ease your conscience Hebrews 10 tells us that it is the blood of Christ that gives us that peace, not trying to excuse our sin.
"Better be sure the second time..."
Or third or tenth I suppose.
I guess it is good to know someone
who is without sin.
By the way, I was not trying to defend
sin, and I do not need to ease my
conscience.
You took what I said completely out of
context. I said "second" time not
"third or tenth"
Yes, I KNOW that the Lord will not divorce HIS bride. It is not even
possible since we have been there since before the foundation of the world...
God Bless...Last word from me.

Actually, the only subjects in the verse was wife and husband. Nothing about victims and victimizers.
For you to allow a door of divorce, is to create theological havoc on the picture of marriage in Christian doctrine. To name a couple:
The Church and Jesus(Ephesians 5)
The Law Versus Grace (Romans7)
If God allows divorce, then the anology of marriage and grace are completely disintegrated. One can lose his salvation and one is not completely free from the ordinace of the law.

Yes, I do. If depart meant divorce, then the Holy Spirit made a boo-boo in insisting on calling the divorce man her husband.

You must learn to rightly divide the
Word of God..By the way we are not
saved by works and can never lose
our salvation. I hate divorce, but
it happens to God's children just like
a lot of other horrible things. It
results from mistakes made in youth
when most of the victims did not even
have a relationship with the Lord.
If we can be perfect in this, we had
better be perfect in everything else
if your argument is to hold up.

I believe the Word of God teaches that
the innocent can move on with someone
new who is a Christian....Better be sure the second time....

This just proves what limits folks will
go to when they are spiritually dead.
They do everything for SHOW...I know
so many of this persuasion and it
sickens me...
A true Christian wants to be taught and
fed the Word of God by a Godly pastor.
We also want to study our bibles and
learn....

Sandra makes an excellent point. I always think about that when James Dobson and his cronies have their 'National Day Of Prayer' every May.
I used to work in an office where anytime there was a tornado warning in the area (Kennesaw), everyone was herded into the 'tornado shelter' (the bathroom). There were Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, Roman Catholics and others there. Someone would always start a group prayer and I would leave the 'tornado shelter' (the bathroom) rather than join in a prayer to false gods.
I always tell my kids: Be careful who you pray with.
Amen, Kenny

The Bible clearly teaches that we are justified by faith alone. Works are a result of our faith, but do not merit us any grace from God.
The Bible says:
Romans 3:28  Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Galatians 2:16  Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Galatians 3:11  But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Galatians 3:24  Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Ephesians 2:8-10  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Amen and God Bless. I'm sure glad it
does not depend on my works. Thank
God for Precious GRACE.

“ Absolute TRUTH!! ”
Thank God for this sermon and the Truth that is taught. Human depravity is not being preached much today. May I learn to trust the Lord and put all things in His Hands...This sermon has told me exactly what I am and the only reason I am not like folks who have been so cruel is because of the Lord Jesus Christ.. He called me and opened my eyes. My prayer is to trust Him more during the trials of this life and quit being bitter. Thank you Brother Fortner.

Spiritual wrote:
I will not waste time untangling the empty arguments you put forward in your trifling post. Rather, I think it much more profitable to cite the remaining part of the verse Yamil partially quoted: "and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery." Luke 16:18
Here, all arguments come to an abrupt end, and every vain reasonsing, a termination. It is patently obvious, and beyond all doubt that Christ forbids both the spouse who puts away, and the espoused who is put away from taking up a second marriage. As the faithful Sister Abigail uttered below, "The only God-ordained partnership in marriage is the first marriage—they are one flesh. All others are adultery. Reconciliation of the marriage is the requirement—unless the deserted mate chooses to stay single."
Being a worldly profligate full of carnal lust, you view chastity as a "punishment" for the wronged partner. But for we who are sanctified and purged from all earthly passions this commandment of Christ to live singly, as the angels, is a much greater blessing than the bondage of wedded life.
How about Matthew 19:9? "except it be
for fornication, and shall marry another"....
I still say the innocent should not be
held guilty....

I agree wtih the STAND; however I have
no idea of how fundamental this
minister is...

At least he is correct about this.
Women are ugly and deformed who try
IN anyway to usurp authority or teach
men. It grieves me to hear them speak
in a church service. I TIMOTHY 2:12
By the way this has never occured in
any church I have attented and it never will. On occasion, I have come
across them on TV and are immediately
ZAPPD!
Come on with the negative feedback;
however, do not expect me to debate
or argue this point...
The Word of God stands for ITS self
on this subject! Thank God for His
Truth and it reqires no DEBATE.
