Evangelical Texas Pastor Bob Roberts figures prominently in the Inter-faith / Multi-faith Movement

Source: Global Faith Forum
Link: http://globalfaithforum.com/bob-roberts-jr/
Bob Roberts Jr. is the founding pastor of NorthWood Church in Keller, Texas. Known around the world as an evangelical pastor who loves people from every faith, he has pioneered relationships with those that are usually shunned by Christians.

Path to Multi-Faith

Overcoming his own fears about Muslims, he has developed a great respect for those who hold strong beliefs in differing faiths.
As other opportunities have presented themselves, Bob has tirelessly worked to purposely draw together coalitions of leaders who would not ordinarily work together. And he’s brought that philosophy home to Texas.

He, along with Rabbi Schneider and Imam Zia, put together DFW’s first Multi-Faith weekend. Celebrating each distinct faith, members from the church, mosque and temple visited each location to observe each others traditions cultivating a strong common respect.

Tracing the origin of the Interfaith Movement aka "One World Religion" . . all roads lead to Papal ROME

Spellman Is Given Medal By Interfaith Movement / Source: The New York Times
Archives - JUNE 12, 1964

Cardinal Spellman received the Gold Medal of the Inter faith Movement yesterday for his efforts in seeking “goodwill, equality and mutual respect” among the peoples of the world.

After the short ceremony, the prelate turned to the donors and pronounced with a smile the traditional Hebrew salute “shalom,” or “peace.”

The award was presented to the Cardinal in his residence at 452 Madison Avenue by Joseph J. Schwartz, the chairman of Interfaith Day (Oct. 4), and Dr. Herman P. Mantell, the president of the Interfaith Movement.

The organization seeks to develop mutual respect among persons of different religions.

Article: Pope and grand imam sign historic pledge of fraternity in UAE / 4 Feb 2019
Source: The Guardian
Link: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/feb/04/pope-and-grand-imam-sign-historic-pledge-of-fraternity-in-uae

The pope and the grand imam of al-Azhar have signed a historic declaration of fraternity, calling for peace between nations, religions and races, in front of a global audience of religious leaders from Christianity, Islam, Judaism and other faiths.

Pope Francis, the leader of the world’s Catholics, and Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, the head of Sunni Islam’s most prestigious seat of learning, arrived at the ceremony in Abu Dhabi hand-in-hand in a symbol of interfaith brotherhood.

The document pledges that al-Azhar and the Vatican will work together to fight extremism. Claiming to be in the name of “all victims of wars, persecution and injustice”, it warns against a “third world war being fought piecemeal”.

It says: “We resolutely declare that religions must never incite war, hateful attitudes, hostility and extremism, nor must they incite violence or the shedding of blood.

One World Religion is of the world . . NOT of God . .

What a comfort to know that the Lord Jesus Christ prays for his people who are "not of the world"

John 17:9-10
"I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them."

John 17:14-17
"I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."

Matthew 10:32
"Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven."

VIDEO: ROME 666 – Part II
by The WILDVOICE • September 22, 2018

Excerpt:
Freemasonry, a One World Religion within a New World Order and the Vatican State can all be found in the Eternal City of Rome. Satan's counterfeits thrive in the city of the seven hills. The occult importance of dates, numbers, and symbols are visible for any with eyes to see in the city at the center of all that is soon to come, Rome.

Another Catholic PROTESTS the Interfaith Movement:
Guest Article: "Francis and the Joint Declaration on Human Fraternity: A Public Repudiation of the Catholic Faith"

Excerpt:
It contains the following passage:

'Freedom is a right of every person: each individual enjoys the freedom of belief, thought, expression and action. The pluralism and the diversity of religions, colour, sex, race and language are willed by God in His wisdom, through which He created human beings. This divine wisdom is the source from which the right to freedom of belief and the freedom to be different derives.'

Taken in its normal meaning, the statement that the pluralism and diversity of religions is willed by God in his wisdom is directly contrary to the Catholic faith. The pluralism and diversity of religions is an evil, and as such cannot be willed by God. These religions contradict each other on doctrinal and moral issues. It must therefore be the case that at least some of these religions are in error where they disagree; and it is a grave evil to hold false dogmatic and moral beliefs.

Critical commentary on the Interfaith Movement from Catholics who PROTEST . .
Website: Novus Ordo Watch
Article: Ark of Apostasy: Why Francis’ Interreligious Fraternity Document does Not Admit of an Orthodox Interpretation / February 11, 2019 / A theological ship of fools…

Excerpt:
The apostate Jesuit Jorge Bergoglio — more commonly known by his stage name “Pope Francis” — caused a ruckus last week when he co-signed a document on “human fraternity” with Sunni Muslim Imam Ahamad Al-Tayyib declaring that God wills there to be a plurality and diversity of religions. We covered this in our post “Apostasy in Abu Dhabi: Francis says God wills Diversity of Religions”.

As a former Roman Catholic converted to Christ by the grace of God, I am well-aware of the heretical doctrines / history and unscriptural practices of Roman Catholicism. After my husband and I did due diligence in this matter, we left the RC “church” and never looked back.
I do believe that most who post at SA would agree that Roman Catholicism is NOT Christian, but unarguably anti-Christian.

In more recent times, we've been accustomed to reading reports of the scandalous and widespread clergy abuse crimes committed by RC priests and the systematic cover up of them by the RC hierarchy.
Yet the level of rampant unchecked abuse in the SBC . . a Baptist / Christian denominiation as exposed by the Houston Chronicle is no less scandalous, perhaps even more so, as most regard the SBC as a Christian organization.

I wonder how many posting at SA are aware that the SBC has ecumenical ties to anti-Christian papal Rome.
Most notably are the SBC ties to the late Billy Graham, an Ecumenist, who did much to further the cause of Rome. This is well-documented.
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amos 3:3

From such, Christ gives His people an unambiguous command:
Rev. 18:4
". . . . Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins . . "

Frank . .Your citation regarding tares is valid, yet in the matters which have come to light in the SBC, unarguably a Christian denomination, I think Christ's warning of “wolves in sheep's clothing” (Matt. 7:15) is more applicable, as it relates to abuse committed by SBC spiritual rulers, those charged with protecting the flock but instead preyed upon them. It goes to accountability.

A babe in Christ with little discernment would concede that Leslie Mason is a “wolf in sheep's clothing.” and would also discern that Michael Leathers has done the right thing in exposing him.

Yet that's not how the SBC rulers saw it . .

Quote:
“Leathers resigned after state Baptist convention leaders told him he might be fired and lose his severance pay “

That's right . . Mr. Michael Leathers, who was then editor of the state's Baptist newspaper was forced to resign.

While the abuser/offender, Leslie Mason continues to hold a pastoral position in the SBC?

Again quoting from the Article at the Houston Chronicle:

“Mason received a seven-year prison sentence under a plea deal in which investigators dropped all but two of his charges. After his release, he returned to the pulpit of a different SBC church a few miles away.

"That just appalled me," Leathers said.

Frank, the issue revolves around those in spiritual rule in the SBC & lack of church discipline.

"In Illinois, Leslie Mason returned to the pulpit a few years after he was convicted in 2003 on two counts of criminal sexual assault. Mason had been a rising star in local Southern Baptist circles until the charges were publicized by Michael Leathers, who was then editor of the state's Baptist newspaper.

Letters from angry readers poured in. Among those upset by Leathers' decision to publish the story was Glenn Akins, the interim executive director of the Illinois Baptist State Association.

"To have singled Les out in such a sensationalistic manner ignores many others who have done the same thing," Akins wrote in a memo, a copy of which Leathers provided. "You could have asked nearly any staff member and gotten the names of several other prominent churches where the same sort of sexual misconduct has occurred recently in our state."

Akins, now the assistant executive director of the Baptist General Association of Virginia, declined an interview request.

Leathers resigned after state Baptist convention leaders told him he might be fired and lose his severance pay, he said.
Mason, meanwhile, admitted to investigators that he had relationships with four different girl

The Houston Chronicle has posted pics / mug shots of SBC abusers here:

https://projects.houstonchronicle.com/2019/southern-baptist-abuse/

Article: ABUSE OF FAITH: A CHRONICLE INVESTIGATION

“Search our database of Southern Baptist church pastors, leaders, employees and volunteers who pleaded guilty or were convicted of sex crimes.
The Southern Baptist Convention has declined to keep a list of key church officials and volunteers convicted of sex abuse crimes. The Houston Chronicle compiled this list of records and information; it is current as of December 2018.”

Excerpt from the SA Article: '20 years, 700 victims: Southern Baptist sexual abuse spreads' - Feb. 12, 2019

"The SBC governing documents ban gay or female pastors, but they do not outlaw convicted sex offenders from working in churches."

Ezekiel 34:10
"Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them."

The lay Catholics say . . “don't tarnish the good name of all Catholics with the sins of our priests!"

Most here would agree that Catholicism is not Christian.

That being said . .
This article is about abuse by religious rulers in the Baptist church . . a Christian denomination . .
and
those who have the spiritual rule in Christian churchs are held to a higher standard . . or should be anyway . . namely God's Word.

The fault lies with the religious rulers in the church.
The SBC governing documents ban gay or female pastors, but they do not outlaw convicted sex offenders from working in churches.

Ezekiel 34:10
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.

From the Article:
"About 220 offenders have been convicted or took plea deals, and dozens of cases are pending. They were pastors. Ministers. Youth pastors. Sunday school teachers. Deacons. Church volunteers. ..."

How does this differ from what goes on in the heretical Roman Catholic church?

SA Article: Pope: Nuns sexually abused, forced abortions / WEDNESDAY, FEB 6, 2019 / Source: WND

From the article:
The abuse of nuns by members of the church clergy came to light this month with the publication of “Women Church World.”
Francis confirmed what long was known by the Vatican but never discussed.
He blamed abuse on the power held by priests and others.

Should we not as professing Christians be all the more appalled when "true believers" commit these acts ?

Neil . . Abuse of church members by church rulers is the worst form of abuse, leaving the victim wounded in body and in soul.
This a huge betrayal of trust.
Where is the church discipline?

But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person
