An egalitarian society, Jim, would be an unscriptural society. The Bible mentions rulers and servants, rich and poor, kings and beggars. An egalitarian society would be an inequitable society, because the evil and indolent would be rewarded just as richly as the virtuous and diligent. We don’t need an egalitarian society. We need a Christ-honoring society.

While I was growing up, QC, John Lennon was my hero and role model. John wore his hair long, so I wore my hair long. John smoked pot and dropped acid, so I did the same. John was an atheist; so was I. It’s only by the marvelous grace of God that I didn’t follow John straight into perdition. “Grace, grace, God’s grace, grace that is greater than all our sin.”

You’re absolutely right, Ladybug. Nutrition is one of the key factors in good health. Physical activity is another. Most Americans with diabetes and hypertension got that way because they eat too much and move around too little.

HerbalMama, I know you are always interested in matters pertaining to health, so I thought I’d tell you about a new diet plan I’ve found that really works. I can eat all the Chinese food I want. The only catch is, I’m only allowed to use one chopstick.

Apt quote, MS. Reminds me of another, regarding things the Lord hates: Proverbs 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

John, the only thing you are going to prove is the same thing you have already proven, and that is that you are hateful, spiteful, and childish. So fire away, little man. You may not know it, but you’re hurting yourself a lot more than you are me.

I went online and found the book, MS, but it’s a little out of my price range right now, especially being this close to the evil, no-warrant-in-scripture (I’m still trying to find the scriptural warrant for endless debate, bickering and backbiting) upcoming holiday. I would really like to read it before the communist infiltrators here in America decide it must be burned, or our know-it-all friends in other countries try to deny its worth based on the vast knowledge they have gleaned from their deep research on Google and Wikipedia.

I have heard of the book, MS, and it was highly recommended, but I have never read it.

I can’t speak for all IFB believers—no one can—but I would say that most believe that the gospel is defined in I Corinthians 15:1-4, and that salvation is by grace, through faith, and not of works, in accordance with Ephesians 2:8-9. I believe, and I think most IFB preachers would agree, that good works are the usual natural outgrowth of the implantation of grace—Ephesians 2:10. However, I do not believe that all born-again people necessarily engage constantly, or even consistently, in good works. Abraham, Jacob, David, Solomon, Peter and Paul all fell into sin at one time or another, so if lesser men than they stumble and fall that doesn’t indicate that they were never saved.
While many IFB preachers (not to mention hordes of others) say that one must “turn from sin” or “repent of all his sins” in order to be saved, I find it extremely difficult to pin them down on exactly what they mean. Obviously if it means that people must stop sinning, then no one is saved—Ecclesiastes 7:20, I Timothy 1:8, 10.
What do I preach? “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” Anyone who fully trusts Christ alone for salvation receives Him (John 1:12), and all who receive Him have Him and therefore have eternal life (I John 5:12).

1 Corinthians 15:10
But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

1 Timothy 1:15
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

If someone really, truly, sincerely and with all his heart believes a lie, that doesn’t stop it from being a lie. If someone tells a lie thinking it’s the truth, that doesn’t stop him from being a liar. If someone tells slanderous lies, in writing, then no matter if he “means well” (which, incidentally, is highly unlikely), that still doesn’t stop him from being a libelous liar. But enough of this. As QC has rightly pointed out, the article was about a whole different subject. Perhaps some folks would like to comment on that for a change.

Frank, your dear brother accused Independent Fundamental Baptists of being a legalistic, brainwashing cult. That is not one, but three outright and vicious lies. Since these defamatory falsehoods appear in print, they constitute libel. I don’t know what you call liars who commit libel, but I call them libelous liars.
