Yes, this is not right, and is considered criminal conduct in the US.
It goes to show you how tolerant the left is. They would be outraged if you told them that in Saudi Arabia, homosexuality is a crime punishable by death.

No, 'Adriel' they don't need a poll to see this today.
Democrats have changed over the years to become a very radical party, so far left that any question of morality is outrageous to them. Like what happened at the FBI's Peter Strok in front of Congress, getting criticized for his infidelity. The Democrats on the Committee whooped and hollered when that comment was made by the Republican chair.

Only in South Carolina, John Y?
I would think he was involved most in things happening in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Baltimore, and Washington DC.
I thought people who live in SC are living in the Bible Belt of the US.

How ironic that Turkey's strong-man dictator talks about bullying, when he has been doing that in his own country with his own people.

This is not as unusual as it sounds. The exact same thing happened to Dan Miller of the 48 Days podcast and website. He was living on a small farm and converted the barn to use for his gatherings to promote his materials. It had nothing religious about it. But the local govt. cracked down on him and issued an order that he had to 'cease and desist' and tear down the barn by a specific date or pay a fine. Now he is looking to move away, after having lived there for many years.
And, since the 'long arm of the law' is involved, he cannot sell the farm and escape since it will appear on the public records when a title search is done on the property, and must be settled. Either he has to bulldoze the barn, or the buyer will, and take that cost out of the purchase price.

This is how so many voted for Bernie Sanders, the Socialist Senator for Vermont. If it wasn't for the Clinton campaign cheating him during the campaign, he would have won the Democrat nomination. And there was a lot of enthusiasm for him, especially when he said that all college loans should be paid off by the government. This made Obama's car campaign, cash for junkers, look like peanuts.
I heard that Clinton's running mate came to a college campus to speak during the campaign, and they prepared for thousands of the young 'skulls full of mush' to show up. Only a few hundred appeared (kinda reminds you of reading the box score of a baseball game, where the attendance is listed at the end, and you say, wait a minute--i saw highlights of that game at mlb.com and i saw much less people there!).

Or you could donate them to your church instead of cash. I'm sure they would be interested.

A very disturbing article that cannot be dismissed by saying, 'Well, that just happened in this one case, but never in my town'
At least this is not getting front page treatment by the mainstream media (maybe because Trump cannot be blamed for it).
At the same time, compare this article to the one about South Carolina losing churches. (At least, none of the official reasons given had to do with financial fraud.)
Most of those were in the large, well-established denominations, where you would think there is greater financial accountability than in these independent ones. Notice, though, that some comments posted here seemed to denigrate any denomination--so if you go to an independent church, you have no idea what is going on with your tithes and offerings, unless you become an expert at reading and interpreting IRS Form 990.

What is interesting is that Canada is the top choice for Americans to emigrate to. Second is Mexico.
Remember how many people said they would move to Canada if Donald Trump became President? I read that Canada was even preparing for the 'onslaught' of applications for citizenship, but then I never read of what finally happened.
And, speaking of American emigrants, I wonder what happened to the many who moved to Canada to avoid the draft during the Vietnam War days. Every once in a while, a story about a felon living peacefully in Mexico for decades, finally being arrested and deported to the US. The last story I read was about a guy who was now 76 years old, so the jail time of ten years would be like a life sentence.

I did not find any mention in the article that Andy Stanley is the son of Charles Stanley, famous TV preacher with his own "In Touch" show and materials, including a monthly devotional you can subscribe to.
As to the issue of 'unhitching' the Old Testament from Christianity, it would make it hard to then understand where Paul tells us that the Old Testament is there to provide us examples, and how would you preach on the Heroes of the Faith in Hebrews 12?
And how would you explain the advice Paul gives to Timothy--the scriptures here must mean the Old Testament, since the KJV had not yet come out!
2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

Thanks, Christopher, for that info on DeBeers and the diamond market. Recently, PBS aired their NOVA program about minerals, and they made the point you had about how common diamonds are. They said sapphires are more rare, as well as other gems, but their prices do not reflect this. Also interesting was how the Chinese attach great significance to jade. If anyone wants to do a remake of that old movie, The Maltese Falcon, they would make the object out of jade and have Jackie Chan as the leading star.

I wonder how this will affect the market for diamonds. I believe many are mined in South Africa.

Yes, V, you are taking it in a direction I had not thought of. Maybe a church in Colorado will try your technique.
Of course, CCM-Christian Contemporary Music-was founded to feed the tastes of modern people who cannot read the music in the hymnals, nor sing, and cannot stand choirs and pipe organs.
At the end of the South Carolina newspaper article is a short video of a church that meets on a pier (not during a hurricane, of course!).

And, in the UK, you have to pay a license fee yearly to have a TV, don't you?
The govt has trucks that go around to detect those who are using TVs without a license, and then they fine them.
I would say TV is dying out, but 21 hours a week is still a lot of time.

Somehow, the previous comment sounds familiar, as if I've seen it attached to other news stories here. What do you think?

The actual number of hours watched is interesting--kids (age 2 to 11) watch 21 hours weekly, teens watch 24 hours.
That is an average of 3 hours a day for kids who you might think would be outside playing games, or doing homework, or household chores. Then you add in the hours dedicated to computer games, DVDs, and internet. Also interesting there is that kids use the internet 4 hours weekly while teens only 1 hour. I wonder about that, if you consider a smartphone to be an internet connected device. Maybe the survey should have set out smartphones as a separate category.
Perhaps the teens did not think of their smartphones as an internet connected device. I think they spend a huge amount of time on them, but since they do it while doing other things, they don't count it. How many times have you been to a restaurant and noticed how the entire family can be using their smartphones instead of conversing.
I think this is also important for health authorities to note, because it shows how little time youth spend doing exercise or play games in a park. Thus we have the big problem of obesity in youth.

This blue-light blindness might explain the 2016 election. I was reading the World Almanac of 2016 and it had the figures for campaign contributions. Hillary had over $74 million, 2nd was Bernie Sanders with $41 million, 3rd was Ben Carson with $31 million, then Ted Cruz with $26 million, then Jeb Bush with $24 million. Some guy named Trump was tenth with only $5,735,514.

I guess this means more people will be moving out of PA in favor of other states that don't push a liberal agenda.
If they move to South Carolina, they can probably buy a used church building!

Read the article about South Carolina churches closing. United Methodists were losing many churches, and this article might help explain why. When 'over 600 members' can file a complaint against the US Attorney General, just because his church is within their district, is utter foolishness.
The late President Richard Milhouse Nixon was a Quaker, but I never read of that church ever condemning his behavior, especially in terms of the raunchy language he used or his management of this country's losing efforts in Vietnam.
