Scott McMahan,Agreed. Simply put, the problem is not the economic system of capitalism but deficit spending. Putting this into perspective, as an individual, if I were to continue deficit spending (although my powers are limited, eg., I do not have the ability to print money, so to that extent the analogy of course is not perfect)so that eventually I was $1,000,000 in debt, I would have gone bankrupt. It would have bottomed out and no matter how much I desired to cut expenses and increase my income(even to the point of having two full-time jobs)I have come to the point of no return. My advice to fellow Christian travellers: get out of debt as soon as possible. As Larry Burkett, once stated, our economy is resilient and definitely surprising but the free fall is imminent. As we speak, our economic future is bleak! |

rayzeratheist/Tx,"...writings by UNKNOWN human authors..." Illogical, as is your beginning premise of knowing with full confidence that there is no God. You posted at, 7/5/10, at 4:13 p.m.: "If that were TRUE..." John 8:44 "You are of your father the devil and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning..." "...CHARGES should be brought..." James 2:10, "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become GUILTY of all." "I should be tried in COURT" Revelation 20: 11,12 and 15. "And I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it... And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were JUDGED from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." "I should serve my sentence." Matthew 25:46, "And these will go away into ETERNAL PUNISHMENT, but the righteous into eternal life." Are you ready to die tonight and to face THE judge of the world? Proverbs 27:1 "DO NOT boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth." |

Jim,First, you assume that all political documents that are fashioned by a majority of Christians or with a heavy emphasis on the Bible, must have the word, Christ or Bible in it! This is the same invalid argument that has been employed by the cults,eg., the word trinity is not in the Bible. Second, as for the blog, I believe that Mr. Novak and Mr. Ellis, have been going at it for a while now. Third, I would like your list of the majority of deists who signed either the Dec. of Ind. or Constitution. Lastly, Eidsmoe, informs us that,"Two professors,Donald S. Lutz and Charles S. Hyneman, have reviewed 15,000 items...with explicitly political content printed between 1760 and 1805." He continues that of the 3,154 references,"The source most often cited by the founding fathers was the Bible, which accounted for 34 percent of all citations." "Christianity and the Constitution", John Eidsmoe, 1987. "Another 60 percent of their quotes was drawn from authors who had their ideas from the Bible. Therefore, it can be shown that 94 PERCENT of their quotes are based either directly or indirectly on the Bible." (caps are mine). "America's Providential History", S.K. McDowell and M.A.Beliles, 1989. |

The preceding post was taken from, "Great Myths of the Great Depression", by The Mackinac Center. The familiarity is that Hoover was accused of these 7 things by Roosevelt in the 1932 election. On page 5,we find: "Roosevelt's running mate, John Nance Garner, charged that Hoover was 'leading the country down the path of socialism'." F.D.R., what he denounced. He later pronounce. Government intervention. Original intention. In three years down seventy-five percent Car production was almost spent. Of course, some like F.D.R. Could still shop for a car. Herbert Hoover, was a mover. Herbert Hoover, no improver. Wise man or a smarty. Must upset the carty. And never vote party. Good motives but foolhardy. |

Quotes or notes? Though fillers are chillers. It's the Spirit that matters. With prayer - no fleshly chatters. Michael, Jonathan Edwards, spent THREE entire days in constant prayer, fasting and deprived of any sleep. Those present stated that their was immediate conviction as soon as they saw Mr. Edwards as he arose from prayer and entered the pulpit, even before he uttered a word. Curiously, some thankfully recorded by hand the sermons of old and one thing we notice is there is never any jokemaking. The Welsh Revival began when two pastors met for prayer. I believe they agreed on two things. One was that they would never seek to joke around or entertain during a sermon! David Brainerd engaged in fasting and prayer one day a week. Such was the case of Spurgeon and others who God used through His Spirit. |

San Jose John,A. Maslow, B.F. Skinner, et al., I also had for Child Development Psychology 40 years ago. I can remember thinking how good that all sounded. Sounds good but experimentally unsound. Humanistic worldview. Common sense askew. When the self is denied. Aggressive spirit, cannot hide. Testosterone aside. A bit of Cain inside. To effect the will, most must cry. The wound be blue, he will not die. |
