A.W. Tozer on the paradox of the Christian life:

“A real Christian is an odd number anyway. He feels supreme love for One whom he has never seen, talks familiarly every day to Someone he cannot see, expects to go to heaven on the virtue of Another, empties himself in order to be full, admits he is wrong so he can be declared right, goes down in order to get up, is strongest when he is weakest, richest when he is poorest, and happiest when he feels worst. He dies do he can live, forsakes in order to have, gives away so he can keep, sees the invisible, hears the inaudible, and knows that which passeth knowledge.”

Do any of these sound synonymous with "Court", "Woo", or "Win the heart of"?

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me DRAW (G1670) him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
(John 6:44)

Simon Peter went up, and DREW (G1670) the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.
(John 21:11)

And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and DREW (G1670) them into the marketplace unto the rulers,
(Acts 16:19)

And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and DREW (G1670) him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.
(Acts 21:30)

But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and DRAW (G1670) you before the judgment seats?
(James 2:6)

It is time to seriously evaluate some these Christmas songs...
Good morning, Bro. US!

Here's a Christmas song that we introduced to our church this year. I think it does a good job of placing the incarnation in it's proper context.

1 O sing a song of Bethlehem,
of shepherds watching there,
and of the news that came to them
from angels in the air.
The light that shone on Bethlehem
fills all the world today.
Of Jesus' birth and peace on earth
the angels sing alway.

2 O sing a song of Nazareth,
of sunny days of joy;
O sing of fragrant flowers' breath,
and of the sinless boy.
For now the flowers of Nazareth
in every heart may grow.
Now spreads the fame of his dear name
on all the winds that blow.

3 O sing a song of Galilee,
of lake and woods and hill,
of him who walked upon the sea
and bade its waves be still.
For though, like waves on Galilee,
dark seas of trouble roll,
when faith has heard the Master's word,
falls peace upon the soul.

4 O sing a song of Calvary,
its glory and dismay,
of him who hung upon the tree,
and took our sins away.
For he who died on Calvary
is risen from the grave,
and Christ, our Lord, by heaven adored,
is mighty now to save.

Good morning Bro. Michael,

There was a time in my life when I was guilty of not obeying the Gospel. Did Jesus forgive me of that sin? I believe He did. If He forgave me of that sin, then He must have born the penalty for that particular sin (along with MANY more) on the cross. I find that there is no condemnation for my sin of disobeying the Gospel. After all, "Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us." (Romans 8:34) But did Christ die for every human being in the same way? If so, who can lay any charge against them, seeing as their guilt has been atoned?

And by the way, I'm not upset, and I hope you're not upset with me for butting my nose into the conversation you are having with Bro. Conner. I'll let you have the last word to me and then I'll go back to reading yall's discussion with interest.

God bless.

Bro. Observer,

Thanks for sharing the hymn. I hadn't heard it before, but what a great song of hope and gladness! I'd love it if you could post up the last verse.

(Also, do you know the tune?)

Observer, Observer, Observer. It says VERY plainly in Second Delusions chapter 5, verse 48, subsection 1.1.8a that it is 12%. NOT 10% as you suppose.

What is it with you folks on SA? John UK says 10 seconds when its is OBVIOUSLY 12 seconds. Now Observer wants to change 12% to 10%. Can't anyone do any good, old fashioned, honest eisegesis anymore. My, my.

Hey Bro. Christopher,

I didn't post that to be contentious. I agree with your earlier post, and wasn't trying to pick a fight w/Bro. Observer. I think he knows that.

I think Bro. Observer and I will both agree that Jesus WILL have preeminence. That His bride will worship Him with joyful, grateful hearts for all eternity. That none whom the Father has given to the Son will be lost. Glory! Hallelujah!

Even if all of Israel was saved (I don't believe they were)... They still didn't constitute a majority of human beings.

The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the FEWEST of all people:
(Deuteronomy 7:7)

Observer wrote:
...if Christ sets up shop to save sinners, then he will save more than he will lose...
I think we both agree, He will save all He chooses to save, and will lose none. (But I understand your analogy.)

Observer wrote:
After all Col 1 goes to great lengths to show that all of creation was made by him and for him so that he could have the preeminence in everything.
Must Christ win the head count in order to have the preeminence? (Sounds kinda Southern Baptist to me ) I believe that Christ's preeminence is based on His person-hood and office. It cannot be diminished based on numbers.

I don't see how Col 1 negates Mt. 7:13-14.
