It really is quite simple.
Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,...

Ephesians 4:30
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Salvation is a legal transaction whereby God sealed us (like a king's seal or signet) with the Holy Spirit - UNTO THE DAY OF REDEMPTION...wich is AFTER we die.
Ephesians 1:14 also states:
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
ANd we all know an earnest is a down payment for the purchased possesion.

It is only people who wish to cling to works that twist this subject, and unltimately it is called PRIDE!

Out of all the names pagan rome could of picked, they pick easter. WHy use a pagan name for Christ Resurrection. The only thing we are to do is the Lord's supper. Easter eggs, bunnies, sunrise services are not biblical.

israeltheou

David also didn't have complete revelation on death, as didn't all OT saints.

I think Jesus settles the matter.

What do you think the music sounded like that Joshua said "sounded like war" when descending Mt. Sinai? There is no way he heard any lyrics, so it was the instruments he heard that the demonic orgy was gyrating to.

If you can't see a difference between the world's music and Christ honoring music you have serious problems.

And, God does not want our flesh to worship him. He said "Those that worship me must worship is SPIRIT and in TRUTH.

Malachi mentions tithes AND OFFERINGS.

Question: since greedy people like to throw out tithing, saying it is OT, does that include offerings?

Malachi said Israel has robbed God in Tithes AND offerings.

Is tithing required? NO - keep your grubby money God gave you breath and health to get - he doesn't need it.

So what did Jesus do with tithing? The same thing he did with all of the law - REQUIRE MORE!

EVERYTHING belongs to God!

And if you have a Church you don't want to give to - find another one.

It usually comes down to simple greed and LACK OF FAITH.

Jesus said "give" and it shall be given unto you...

This word GIVE doesn't refer to money. It applies to EVERYTHING.

Kenny - only 12 apostles - the pastor is not an apostle.

I thought that the woman's covering was their hair? Although I have no problem with a woman wearing one. It can demonstrate humility....and pride. But I would rather see a head covering that a man's haircut - which has become fashionable in the current carnal church.

I don't believe children are growing up faster, because they would begin being more mature and responsible earlier. What IS happening is they are exhibiting their depraved nature earlier than they used to. There is very little innocence left in children anymore.

And some of you complained against the preachers who told you not to get a television or go to movies!?! Have you ever seen the Disney channel? I have at my in-laws (we don't have a TV), and it was incredible how the children on those shows address and talk to adults. Utter disrespect.

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. Isaiah 3:12

They were right!!

I'm sure OT saints had questions about specifics in prophesies too. They just had faith in what God said in spite of the areas they didn't understand.

When one starts from a non-literal presupposition, then you have to interpret Scripture to accommodate a faithless foundation.

I think it was Satan who first questioned "hath God said..."

JD - Jesus warned about casting your pearl before swine.

How someone could deny literal fulfillment of prophecy boggles my mind.

Jesus also asked the question if, when he returned, would he find faith. Some of these topics come down to one problem - no faith in the Word of God.

It's easier to explain it away "theologically" than just simply believe it.
What a waist of Oxygen debating these people.

Some believe the NT evangelist is simply a Church planter.

Just something to think about.

II Chron. 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

The condition of a nation is determined by believers, not unbelievers. Since most politicians are corrupt, would it not make sense that replacing them with Christians would make politicians moral and honest?
Only the people of God can intervene in the direction of a nation.

So you, derek, would be wasting your time by diagraming John 3:16 in order to find out what I meant by the *THAT* which I used in the sentence that I wrote.

Sorry - I didn't read the posts before.

"THAT is the WORLD spoken of in JN 3:16"

If I'm not mistaken, the word "that" would have to refer to "loved". But, I will have to diagram the sentance and see what happens.

Most times our deficiency in English causes us to misinterpret Scripture.

Lisa - the word "fellowheirs" indicates two (or more) separate entities. All that verse means is that we have access to Christ through the Gospel, just like the J-ws ( ) did.

AND,what about the believers that were called Christians frist at Antioch? Why were they called that? And why didn't they get up and scream "I am not a Christian"?

But, I'm sure you're not a Christian, because the word Christian means "little christ".

You are blinded by your pride, and are vainly trying to keep the law, as to salvation, which is impossible, and is a slap in the face to the one who shed his blood to purchase you.

"I keep the 10 Commandments..."
and don't cop-out with the parenthesis, because you're saying when you don't keep them, it's because the spirit didn't help you.

I have tried not to reply to many of your comments, but the more I read the the more bewildered I become. You, Lisa, have some seriously flawed ideas, and I think you like the feeling (although usually subconscience) of being different from the "mainstream", which makes you feel superior and like the only one who "get's it." Hey, I know because I was the same way until God cut the legs off of my pedestal and I saw who I really was - a very religious lost man. It was pride...end of story.

Could you please name some for me. I don't know of any fundamental Baptists that would not go as missionaries to

28As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.

Serious question: does anyone know why there is a distinction here between the Gospel, and the election?

Another question: Notice what Paul said -
13For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
14If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.

Someone questioned Yamil about getting someone saved (reminding him only God does that - which we know), so what did Paul mean?

One more thing:

18Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.

Is it not true that the branches (gentiles) were grafted into the root, because the old branches were broken off? Who is the root?

DJC49 - you said:
"I also pray that JD's evangelizing results in NO false or shallow professions of faith which might very well result in their having obtained just enough "religion" so as to inoculate and seal them, temporarily, from the Truth."

Who cares if the elect will be saved anywway.

"Evangelization is very serious stuff."

Again - why? You sound like man has the ability to thwart God's plan. Maybe it's not salvation your worried about but that people might be lead away from Calvinism.
