Yeah, I have a problem with Call of duty, Grand Theft Auto, etc. but Pong, Missile Command, Pac-Man, etc. and the earlier versions of Mario, Star Fox, Mega Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, etc. are pretty good games.

Although I would think that PETA would have a problem with Mario... he’s a plumber that smashes turtles by jumping on them and he hurts fish. 🐢🐠

Video games aren’t to blame, it’s the abuse of them that is. Video games are good for fun (obviously you need to use discernment) but once it becomes an addiction....look out.

@JAG, that would be a fantastic terrorist plot.

Imagine if a germaphobic Pope was elected. 🤔

Men Ditch Suits

This is my last comment. I don’t have a command to wear a suit, or tie. Where is the command? You can try to extrapolate it out of the OT commands that were given to a specific people, and apply that principal to a somewhat modern set of garments (17th century) of which we call a suit, but the connection is clearly lacking.

If a position has to commit logical fallacies category errors, unsupported conclusions, and some unusual statements about what a t shirt represents, I’ll stay clear of that position.

But in case you’re wondering, when I teach at my church, or another church, or when I sing in the choir, I do “give up” my Christian liberty and wear a suite.

@Wayfarer, I’m 23...are you trying to say something about me? 😀

“The t-shirt still remains an item belonging to a frivolous life style, representing a sloppy, do-it-your-own-way philosophy, which does not necessarily represent biblical value or terms.”

No it does not. T-shirts are a garment that covers you. If someone were to ask me why I wear a shirt, it’s because I don’t want to go around shirtless. Or as someone once said, “Modesty is the best policy.”

In fact, your statement is subjective, not objective, you have no facts supporting your position it is simply your personal opinion that you think to be true.

But in your example of the priests, again there’s another category error, they were commanded to do it. Jesus, the great high priest, never wore it. The apostles probably weren’t decked out in the fanciest garb.

@QC, I think the White House has protocols on how you dress, I’m sure Spain has something similar. I’d wear a suit because I have to, not because I want to.

@BMC, & Adriel, is it wrong for me to wear a t-shirt that says “slave of Jesus Christ “ and khakis while attending a church service, if so why is it wrong and what is your standard for it being wrong?

Well thanks Wayfarer. If you take a listen to the afore mentioned podcast, Steve Lawson kinda gives a similar view (except mentioning me)

“Dressing up smartly is not just about the shape and style of clothing. It makes a statement in public, trying to impress and comply with a sense of worth esteemed within the community.”

So...I should wear s suit why? Adriel, maybe I’m missing something but I have no clue what you’re talking about.

What’s the purpose of wearing a suit at church? I wore a t-shirt that said, “Salve of Jesus Christ” (in Greek) and khaki pants, is there something wrong with that?

BTW, Steve Lawson had an interesting podcast on this issue, I think it’s called “Should pastors wear suits”

He starts off by saying, “I don’t have any biblical mandate to wear a suit” His Podcast is called expositor with Steven Lawson.

@Adriel, wearing a suit does not make you godly, nor is it a holy virtue, nor a biblical command. Truth be told, I’d rather wear a t-shirt and jeans to church, a funeral, or a marriage rather than a suit and tie. It’s a lot more comfortable.

@Neil, lol

@Adriel, I don’t know where you live, but I live in California, but I hope you’re praying for the Christians in California, and for the souls of people in California.

And as far as Romans 1:26, that was happening when Paul wrote the book and before he wrote the book. I assume you live in a land where adultery, fornication, pornography, are not only legal, but also rampant.

And might I add that if the Holy Spirit was not restraining evil, every nation would be worse than California.

Jim, you’ve made politics your god, in fact I think it is safe to say that your politics determines your Theological convictions, that’s extremely dangerous, you need to repent of your idolatry and sins. May God grant you faith and repentance.

Whoops. Well, I think that it’s important to define what contemporary is and work from there. If we define contemporary as “new” then there is a great amount of new Christian songs that are the real deal.

Of course, there are Christians out there that are so closed minded (and no, I’m not saying anyone here is closed minded) that they can’t even consider that praising the Lord with a Guitar is holy (I happen to enjoy the guitar, ukulele, and banjo) or to write a new song is good.

@Dr. Tim, I might check that out.

I’m not sure Elohim and Jehovah would agree,

“O Lord, what church shall I join?” or "Must I join the Methodist Church?" In answer, he was told that "all religious denominations were believing in incorrect doctrines, and that none of them was acknowledged of God as his church and kingdom." All churches and their professors were "corrupt" and "all their creeds were an abomination in his sight."

Plus the fact the Mormons believe that marriage is fundamental to the fullness of the gospel, that is to say that the law of eternal progression hinges on marriage.

How inconsiderate that a group of people would passionately plead for mothers to not have their children butchered alive. Can’t these zealously concerned individuals get a life and stop being a bother to society?

And the thought that they would show such love as to pray for the mother and her child shows a complete lack of tolerance.

By my work, there’s a pretty good sized RV and it has a huge TRUMP sticker, I mean...it seems like the guy would do almost anything for Trump.

@Chris, I think a guy on YouTube was seriously arguing that Donald Trump is prophesied in the Bible by using “The TRUMP of God” passage...there are some interesting people in the world.

@John, I thought you were a KJVonlyist, especially since the argumentation you utilized was much like the KJVonly camp, and your answers were like KJVonlyists, so it's easy how people could misidentify your position. Furthermore, the article you directed me to says that the KJV is the Bible that God gave to America. Another trademark of KJVonlyism. But I should've asked what your position really is.

And there's more than those three that the article mentioned, but since you're not a classic KJVonlyist it kinda is a point not worth pursuing (in my opinion), I recommend the KJVonly controversy by James White, unfortunately I can't spend anymore time on this, whether or not you'll see it as a retreat I don't know, but I've got a lot of catching up to do, I'm teaching a class this Sunday, I have to catch up on my personal studies, and I am putting together a series for my church, so I have a lot to do and I can't spend anymore time on this.

Thanks for spending time on this issue, I hope you have a good weekend, and may God's blessing be on your life.

BTW, I think Benjamin thought you represent the views of Dr. Sam Gipp
