Chris G P from England writes: "Sometimes our interference in these areas has been worse than useless, and in fact counterproductive, and has affected the Christians in those areas far worse than if we had left things well alone."Su true. Interference usually makes things worse over there. Our military goes in with the troops being told they're fighting for America and freedom, when in reality, these operations are often just carried out to benefit the political/economic upper crust in unseen ways. For example, US troops are often told to destroy the seed stores of native farmers (from plant varieties the farmers had grown and saved the seeds from for generations). Not surprisingly, American seed companies come in after and charitably donate patented, hybrid or GMO seeds to these farmers. The problem is, when the farmers try to save the seeds from these American varieties (as they had done with their own native varieties) they find that it's not possible. Naturally, they then have to repurchase seeds from US seed companies over and over again - and now the seed companies have a new locked in, dependent customer. Nice and charitable huh? That's just one example of many... An Indian friend told me that Indians generally believe that the Iraq war was nothing but a scheme |
