Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave woman and one by a free woman. But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman was born through promise. Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. For it is written,“Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear;
break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labor!
For the children of the desolate one will be more
than those of the one who has a husband.” Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise. But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now. But what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.” So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman. I'm not an expert on or immune to logical fallacies, but I sense one or more in some of the arguments posted here see https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/ or https://answersingenesis.org/logic/logical-fallacies-series/ Wasn't it the Lord who said, "I desire mercy, not sacrifice"? Many of the harsh comments on SA remind me of the attitude of the Pharisees. Little or no love. Little or no grace. No mercy.... James was right (3:3-11)... With it (the tongue/our words) we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. James 3:9 |

Some songs are definitely worthy of criticism due to worldliness or bad theology. However, valid songs can be from the heart, detailing emotions that the Lord evokes in us toward Him for the great love that He has toward us. Those words are spirit-filled and not bound by any legalistic requirement of a cold, dead religion.Galatians 4:6

Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. Romans 14 is a good place to hang out for a while. |

However, I've listened to many of his sermons on the radio and I have been blessed and comforted tremendously by them. His closing prayers are tender and filled with love to motivate me to walk by the Spirit in love, living for Jesus. I was blessed by his "Grace Changes Everything" and "Love - the more excellent way" books. I felt a weight being lifted off of me through reading the "Grace" book. It is so easy to criticize and judge. That is our default nature. My goal and prayer is that I walk more in Love for His Glory, speaking the truth in love with humility. Peace. |

Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. And some said, "What does this babbler wish to say?" Others said, "He seems to be a preacher of foreign divinities"-because he was preaching Jesus and the resurrection. - Acts 17:18 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, - 1 Cor 1:23 His birth matters, yes, but most of the focus in the Word seems to be His death, burial, resurrection and return. |

1. Paul was accused of being lawless or of encouraging sin. There is no way that they would accuse him of this if he was going around telling jewish believers that they were still under law.2. Galatians 3:24. Paul was a Jew, thus when he says 'our', he means 'us Jews'. We assume here he is including Gentiles. 3. Galatians 3:24 sits between 3:23 and 3:25. What key words do you see? 23 Now before faith came, we were HELD CAPTIVE under the law, IMPRISONED UNTIL the coming faith would be revealed.
24 So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.
25 BUT NOW that faith has come, we are NO LONGER under a guardian 4. What sense does this make if we are under the Sabbath? One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. - Romans 14:5 5. Read the epistles and notice the grounds of motiviation Paul uses to stir people to action. I don't see "keep the law". Instead, I see love as you were loved, forgive as you were forgiven, Walk by the Spirit. 6. Set the confessions aside and read the Bible as is. Derive your own understanding by the power of the Spirit. |

The book "Christ is All: No Sanctification by the Law" opened my eyes to what these verses are actually saying without any glosses. If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. - Hebrews 8:13 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. - 1 Corinthians 9:19-21 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?
