Who said it was easy to be a christian. The pressures of a secular society, secular education, and the real threat to Christian education and theology by the liberal establishment. Terv. davey
As a old Minnesotean, I saw Tammy Faye on the Larry King Live Show last Thurs and it was just a matter of time. But, surprised that Jim Bakker is alive and well with his Jim Bakker Show (online) I have always felt abit negative on these kind of TV shows. Any thoughts about her or these TV shows?
I have heard this from many different denominations, Apostolic succession...including some Lutheran off-shoots...wonder what my Orthodox friends would say. Terv. davey
Instead of the RC Church apologizing, why don´t the "priests" repent of their sin for their abuse of children. If not, then they face the ultimate judgement for their sin. This goes for the priests convicted in Ireland and Europe as well. Terv davey
With the weather conditions in the West,100 + in many areas, is this any way to treat a old woman especially when the US Drought Monitor listed this State as moderate. She was saving water and may respond to the "Live Earth" concerts. Terv. davey
Yep....this is one of the problems in the liberalism of the Luth Church in Finland. One woman told me, "We live in the age of grace so the church can have women pastors!" One said the issue is based on the politicalism ties with the WCC; Some in the revival groups that are umbrelled under the Luth Church have mixed feelings...many men priests will not work with women priests and this has caused problems..some say it is no problem
Jim from Nebraska mentioned that Finland needs missionaries from Bible believing churches....that seems to be no problem because many are joining the Free Church or Pentecostal, and some to the Orthodox. There is a movement in Finland that some priests believe that there should be no State ties. Time will tell on these issues.
Women have there places in church as teachers, etc...but the question is being a "priest".
Wondering if you could hair-split this again: true bible believers...those who put their trust in a living G-D amd His Christ verus those who just sit in the pew, etc. In Finland, for example, even though that the recent stats say that there are 86% who belong to the Luth Church, only 1-3% are true believers. It seems that after any revival, there is a falling-away from Christ in the 2nd and 3rd generation....especially when life has to be lived with all the pressures of friends and society that are so anti-christian...more so in affluent societies where materials and money are #1 priorites. Some thing to think about...terv.davey
What insight into scripture does the RCs know that it will shorten the time in purgatory? It is interesting that the Orthodox do not believe in purgatory! Terv. davey
See what happens now....interesting to know what percentage of monies from the world goes into the deep pockets of the Saudi government because of the oil revenues. The problem, what I read, that most of the money goes to the king´s families, and not for the social services to help those outside the king´s families.(???)
It would be really interesting where the moderate Muslim is on the issues of the day...I haven´t seen any. Perhaps, their lives are endanged by their own. Terv.david.
I think more is to come from different religions in a secular, pluralistic and humanistic society. I just read an interesting article about militant secularism war on christianity...at:
The Scandanvian countries are #1 in teaching foreign languages. For example in Finland, English is taught in the 1st grade and continues through the last year in high school. Some classes may start teaching 10% of their studies in English, and by the 6th grade it will be 100% (but not in all schools) Other languages, German, Swedish, Russian or French may start in the 5th. Now I heard Chinese will be taught in some schools in Helsinki. I should know because I retired teaching English Oral skills 2 yrs ago...It was great fun. Many visiting teachers or students from foreign countries were envious of this kind of program. A high percentage of Finnish students may speak and understand 2 or 3 languages. Terv davey
I have a friend in Sun City, Az and he wrote that Boulder Dam is way down. Any folks out there in other parts of the country to confirm what the situation is in your area.
