Graeful for all of your prayers and well wishes. This is one of those valleys of the shadow of death. It is difficult to discern the true state of things until tests are done, which start tomorrow. She will have surgery next week with a full pathology report the following week. What we know about it's so bad. It's what we don't know about.
Our world is descending into an darkening period as well. As we pray that the Lord leads my family and me through our valley, we also need to pray that the Lord leads us through this broader valley. I can tell you that the Lord's pesence is a huge comfort right now. As we together walk through these dark days, clad in our armour with our swords drawn and sheilds up, let us all remember that He is with us, even in spite of ourseles.
All I can say, Brothers, is that I'm sitting in a hot car waiting for my dear wife to come out of the medical building. She was diagnosed with cancer & just saw the oncologist, who told her that the cancer will be very easy to address. That passage out of Psalm 126 was incredibly timely. Never know what the salt of your words will season.
Ken, I made the call. What happened in Missouri at the hand of those who were "pro-Union" and "pro-Confederacy" was horrific, and I certainly will not condemn self-defense against such outrages as you described. That ongoing simmering skirmish was, in part, a hold over from bleeding Kansas and in part men taking advantage of power without oversight or justice to take whatever they wanted. Hildebrand was on the receiving end. He was a Confederate of sorts..and not like my great, great, great grandfathers. But their circumstances were pretty different too.
Cant disagree with your point, though. It stings. Guess no one remembers occupation post-war. Couldn't let your women-folk go out unescorted if Union troops were around...bad things happened. What the Yankees didn't tear up, they taxed for back taxes, maybe both. So now it's time to kick the South again? Enough already.
Truth and justice were never part of these modern revelers point anyway. All they want is power and to use that power to destroy. Just Satanic.
Points well made, Mike, and I certainly agree. Reactionaries is a good term for those people. They are reacting to their own ideas and, too often, imaginations as well as the imaginations of their college professors.
Excellemt testimony, Brother John. Great encouragement.
What the individuals in the lawless mob want can quite often be found in Christ. That emptiness and guilt is filled and redeemed by the Lord Jesus as those individuals come to faith in Him. Their anger cannot soothe. Their raging cannot calm. But the Lord is their solution..
Every mass of people is a mass of individuals who would be lost except for Jesus.
A few years ago, I read with interest the biography of Sam Hilderbrand, the infamous Missouri guerrilla. He was living in an area in which injustice reigned and was targeted by it to the point he fought back. He certainly did not try to be at peace with all men as much as it depended on him. I believe he should have shown more restraint, but it is easy for me to suggest 150+ years later from my comfortable, air conditioned living room. I would not class him as a fine Christian gentleman. http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/50389
In the other side of the nation was Confederate Major John Mosby who literally terrorized Washington DC practically single handedly. He may have had faith in Christ and certainly respected those who did. http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/45436
Few have been able to negate that General Robert E. Lee was a man of saving faith. Consider this defense written by a former staff officer. http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/10692
Mike, we were in a history museum about six months ago. The educator/indoctrinator told our child with the group that they needed to continue the American Revolutuon because there is income inequality, gender inequality, racial inequality, and medical inequality. I'm not exaggerating. These people do believe they are revolutionaries. The gay man who fixed our watches a few weeks back told me that he was concerned that the revolution would not be bloodless.
Now we all know that the revolution for us ended with the Treaty of Paris. Not for these people. But when one makes up his own truth, whatever they want to believe is equally valid as something full of real, actual truth in their minds,
Just reading the headlines posted, it's a dad state of affairs. Portland, OR, is a disaster zone crafted by Progressive politics and its militant arm, Antifa. Minneapolis is in free fall. Both with many others are spreading all kinds of fake information for the purpose of manipulating public opinion. Sad state of affairs. And they have the gall to complain about the President?
"Everything is in place for the cultural definition of marriage to continue evolving to suit society's personal desires and whims" is crowd-sourced morality and truth. In other words, the mob is trying to take the place of the Lord. But all they will create is anarchy, fear & destruction.
The Lord is He who made us and not we ourselves. We are the sheep of His pasture. Psalm 100 applies.
Tim, glad you are protected from the nonsense brought into the Pedimont from those carpet-bagging liberals. My mother graduated from a now gone high school in Wake County just after WWII. How things have changed. But even in those days, it had started. Wake will no longer want to lag the other Marxists in their pursuits.
Truth is inconvenient, particularly if one is trying to establish sometji g contrary to that truth. The world today does not acknowledge a common or absolute truth. If something challenges what someone wants to believe, the thing to do is to get rid of that opposing truth.
The problem with this inconvienent truth is that it flows from the source of all things, the Lord. And it begins to look like a Psalm 2 situation pretty rapidly. Those in opposition will do well to take Psalm 2's advice...
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, when his wrath shall suddenly burn. Blessed are all that trust in him. - Psalm 2:12
Bradford's famous diary, "Of Plimouth Planation," is titled what it is.
Having been there maybe twenty years ago, there is an effort to celebrate both the native people and the Non-conformists. Makes sense. If one actually reads Bradford's work, he will find that the "Pilgrims" were good friends and allies of the peoples that they encountered as long as they were met in peace. These are not Spanish colonies here...the Non-conformists were scared of them too. They discussed going to South America but the fear of the Spanish kept them in English claims.
Cultural Revolution 2.0 continues. This is not the first report of this kind of demands on Christians.
Amen, Brothers Frank and John UK. There is a battle for China right now. If the reports are correct, scores of people in the PRC have come to faith in Christ. The CCP sees this as a major competitor. Like the Roman emperiors, they will not accept any challenge to absolute loyalty. But the Lord has turned that kind of pride upside down on the prideful before, and my prayer is that He does so again for the sake of His church.
