“ Great Sermon! ”
A very well-done interview with a very clear, Scripturally-sound apologetic. Excellent.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Good talking points Sean. I've talked with many professing believers that don't believe that the entire Bible is "true", and further, that much of it is allegorical. It's important that people realize just how outlandish such a view is. Jesus quoted many of the OT prophets in His NT ministry, in particular citing that Jonah was factual, and that Jonah was indeed 3 days and 3 nights in the whale's belly. That said, your point rings loud and true that if Jesus used this factual event as an illustration of His future resurrection, then it is to be taken as liter and factual, and not allegorical. Great points.

“ Great Sermon! ”
first time hearing this show (on the net-SermonAudio.com) and its been very informative so far. Remember, 2008, Ron Paul, who you mentioned, had over 30,000 small time, christian pastors, who supported him. Glad to hear you mention his name and the important role in saving America. God Bless and much success.

“ Good and helpful overview of the role of songs ”
I found this very helpful in explaining not just the role and importance of singing in worship, but also hearing a little more about the background of Machen and the Trinity hymnal.

“ Excellent message ”
Excellent message, particularly the emphasis on fringy sects of Christianity that preach "the gospel AND...", of which I've been exposed to a lot of lately, so the timing of this was providentially wonderful. It's not just others, though, and it can be easy to slip into that "gospel plus" mentality, so this was a great message to hear and to apply.

very, very encouraging thankyou very much for this message, so often we have the wrong perspective on our trials but when we can see the truth that they are for the purpose of conforming us to christ our troubles almost(too me anyway)become a source of encouragement knowing that God is working, thanks again, one of the key sermons ive heard so far this year.

Republicans are the party of Jesus???
Where did you get that info from John?
I believe it is hard for a lot of Christians to understand that OUR FATHER does not have to turn His back on us for us to falter as a nation. How many times did God allow the Jews to do their own thing instead of follow Him & the Jews were conquered or fell into econ, spiritual & social chaos. The US & the West are there? We will need a great revival to postpone great tribulations & the revival will not come from any govt party. The last few elections have been a situation of voting for the lesser of 2 poorer candidates. Is.3:1-4 Children are our leaders! & not close to Christ.

“ Great Sermon! ”
This series was fantastic. I listen to it before I go and see my unsaved siblings as an additional motivation to try to reach them. After listening to it once, I have never forgotten the overwhelming sense of limited time we all have. Mr. Donnelly also did a 12 part series on Paul that listen to a couple of times a year. I was sorry to hear he had retired due to some health issues.

“ Good commentary Sean ”
Your comments concerning Osteen's unwillingness to present the truth concerning homosexuality were on point. We often say something like "I wish Osteen would take a hard stand." Even better, I submit the following: "I wish Osteen would take a Biblical stand and present the subject as God has presented it." We (preachers/teachers) would do well to simply present what God has already clearly presented in His Word. Preaching becomes simple when we re-state what God has already stated.

Perhaps your not getting it Bibliophile, but the football wasn't dropped by the true Church, it was dropped by the vast majority of the Roman Communion.

So there was no gap!

Bibliophile,
Just a little history!
The decline of medieval Christianity was gradual. The more serious errors came in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The results of this descending darkness were serious. Even before the career of Martin Luther in the early 1500s, Gregory of Rimini (a monk) and Thomas Bradwardine, the Archbishop of Canterbury, challenged the whole notion of synthesis in regard to salvation. What arose was a return by some to Augustine’s insistence upon the sovereign grace of God conquering people’s sinful rebellion. These theologians reasoned that, if one relied upon sincere cooperative efforts with God and the church, in the end it was not grace that saved. Reliance upon various kinds of preparation for grace was viewed as a form of self-righteous human effort. God did not need help, even sincere human help, to save the sinner.

Out of this theological confusion and corrupt practice the medieval church began to face serious abuses. So a providential historical context of criticism, which helped bring about the great change, was already in place when Luther began to speak out regarding the matter of indulgences. Yes Rome dropped the ball, but others played on, hence the many murders carried out by Rome for Heresy.

Very Good Jim the 5 sola's are indeed a good barometer, and from reading alot of Stott, I would say both he and Packer would both hold to the 5 sola's!
