We certainly do not know if this man was truly saved; the title of 'pastor' is not a guarantee. However, rather than dwell on that {it is irrelevant at this point anyway}, let's pray for this man's family. Let's not have stony hearts that judge, let's cry out to God to turn this tragedy into His glory. May the folks at this church be woke up, may hearts be broken over sin, may souls truly be saved.

I don't mean to get off topic, but there was a shooting this morning at the Baptist Church in Maryville, Illinois {about 30 minutes from me}. The Pastor was shot dead by a crazed person. Please everyone, I would ask for prayer for all involved here. Thankyou

Those who follow the doctrines of the RCC are lost in sin. I am not attacking a brother or sister in Christ, rather, I am trying to share God's truth. Being in the flesh, and not of the 'reformed', I am subject to error. May God always be merciful as I seek to reach out to lost souls caught up in this deception.

Must be a slow day, no one for DJC49 and Rogerant to gang up on but me!

As for Mac's view, I don't have a problem with it, so what is it you want me to lynch him for? After all, it was HIS conference right?
I agree, the amil view doesn't make sense, so I guess the reformed tag team will have to regroup and get ready for the 'attack'. Unfortunately, I am not going to hang around for it.
Have a nice day

Scholium~ I agree, Calvin would be the FIRST to reprimand all who label themselves after him. He would credit his teachings as that of God. My point was that Mbewe, Leiter, Washer, etc, would not credit Calvin, they too credit the origin of their teachings as that of God.
DJC- I realize MacArthur is only flesh and bones, God does have a way of humbling His own. I never stated MacArthur was perfect, nor would I go out of my way to point out his alleged error. The whole gist of this attack is that MacArthur speaks out against the amil view...what's the diff when your own do the same and speak out against the pre-mil view?
As for your continual sarcasm, it too is growing thin. You and your buddy, Rogerant, have raked many a brother and sister over the reformed coals. What is your goal? To win the argument, or to edify a brother or sister? {BTW~it appears your 'man' is K.M.}
Good day

Rogerant~ I do wish MacArthur were able to defend himself, but since he doesn't waste time shoving his view down people's throats on forums such as this, I feel compelled to speak up for him. He is a brother in Christ, he preaches God's word. I have respect for this man, he has a doctorate in theology. Tell us Rogerant, do you hold such a doctorate? Have you been faithfully preaching the word of God for over 40 years?
I enjoy men such as MacArthur, Washer, Mbewe, and Leiter because they do not preach what Calvin preaches, or any man or group of men...they preach God's word.
I grow tired of your constant attacks on everyone on this forum who disagrees with you. You seem to be unable to see the log in your own eye, yet, you do not hesitate to desperately try and remove everyone elses' 'speck'.
Your repeated attacks against J.M. concerning 'lordship salvation' were addressed on another thread, someone gave a link stating the accusation was wrong. Yet, you continue on with your opinion, as if you are the only source of truth. May God be merciful.

the 'reformed camp' targets MacArthur only because he does not hold to their views on eschatology. For that matter, they target anybody who doesn't hold to their view! I wonder, are those in that camp able to see their own 'downfalls' as easily as they can see others? No one is perfect, no one is 100% accurate, and no one has full knowledge of the bible. Differing views on secondary issues should not cause us to point fingers at others and attach labels to them. I honestly believe Satan is having a field day with the 'church', as we claim,'I'm a calvinist, I'm reformed, I'm an arminian,' etc...it all reminds me of 1 Cor. 1:12,13-"One of you says ,'I follow Paul', another, 'I follow Apollos', another, 'I follow Cephas', still another, 'I follow Christ'. Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you?'

The verses prior are also fitting {vs. 10 & 11}
May God have mercy on us.

I can't add much more to what Candlelit has already stated. It's sad to see so many 'shoot their own' just because they refuse to be pinned down to a set systematic form of beliefs. It really isn't that complicated, ' I was blind, but now I see'.
MacArthur's teachings resonate with the 'average believers' out there who don't boast of superior knowledge, those of us who aren't ashamed to admit, 'I don't know all there is to know'. If every 't' isn't crossed, or every 'i' isn't dotted, some reformed wiz will not hesitate to correct us if and when we err.

Oh well, even so, come Lord Jesus!

So, because MacArthur does not line up word for word on eschatology with the 'reformed view' he isn't worth a flip! And who's to say the 'reformed' camp have the right view on the study of end times?
This is why I disagree with the whole labeling that so many insist on putting on both themselves and those with differing views...it causes division. I've learned more from John MacArthur's teaching than I ever could from reading some of the postings here. There are some things I am not in total agreement with, but then God reminds me that like me, Dr. MacArthur is still in the flesh.
It has been my experience with most from the reformed camp, there is a sense of superiority within, a sense of 'higher knowledge' than the rest of us poor souls possess. They insist on debating until they win, or you give up, which ever happens first.
Oh well, God knows my heart, and He will finish what He started, all for His glory!

The Lord God has used John MacArthur in a mighty way. Prayerfully Rogerant, you may be able to say the same about yourself, as soon as you climb down off your high horse. What knowledge you may have has puffed you up, and all who think outside your box are 'shipwrecked'. Praise God, He alone knows the heart of man.

Here's a factual quote...
"The Roman Catholic Church did not exist when the canon was closed in the first century. How do we know? You cannot find any of the following Catholic traditions in the church of the apostles; priests offering sacrifices for sin, purgatory, indulgences, infallible popes, Mary as a sinless mediatrix, etc."

Lance~ the Bible is the final authority, according to God's own word, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" 2 Tim. 3:16 It's all a true believer needs, nothing added, nothing subtracted.
"The word of our God stands forever" Isaiah 40:8 Long after the harlot RCC is not even a memory, God's word will still be; His word is eternal, "Your word, O Lord, is eternal. It stands firm in the heavens" Psalm 119:89
You won't get to heaven unless you obey God's word, "why do you call me Lord Lord, and do not do what I say?"
You can't obey His word unless His Spirit dwells within you and teaches you {John 14:26}
God's word is perfect, "As for God, His way is perfect, the word of the Lord is flawless" 2 Sam. 22:31

"The Church of Rome boasts loudly of a unity which does not deserve the name. It is a unity which is obtained by taking away the Bible from the people, by gagging private judgment, by encouraging ignorance, by forbidding men to think for themselves" J.C. Ryle

Lance~ one day you will realize that, the bible was indeed the final and only authority, and that Jesus Christ paid it all, one time, on the cross, 'it is finished' Lance. No need to offer up anything else. Your repetitious chants, prayers, rituals and traditions aren't that different of the religious self-righteous Pharisees of Jesus' day. They looked good on the outside, but inside they were unchanged. No new birth, no born from above birth by God. What did Jesus Christ call them? Hypocrites.
Do you say God's Holy Spirit dwells within you Lance, and if so, what makes you think so? Please, answer from the heart, not pre-conceived ideas taught by man. Are you afraid to die Lance?

Lance, in your spiritual blindness, you fail to understand the grace provided for salvation comes only by Almighty God. Salvation is His gift, He gives the gift of salvation to those who are broken over their sins. Those who have been crushed by the weight of sin cry out to God for mercy and forgiveness; it is at that point they are heard by the Holy One of Israel. It isn't through a ritual Lance. How sad for you that you cleave to the doctrines of demons and fail to cry out to God personally, apart from what you've been taught by man.
You say,'Grace through mass and sacraments'...this is salvation by works! You fail to understand God's gift, a gift is given away Lance, you cannot earn it, nor can anyone else give it to you. Only God can give His gift, and He gives it by His grace alone, nothing added.

Do you believe God's Holy Spirit dwells within you Lance? If so, what makes you think so?

Lance~ how sad, this poor woman has stated the sexual abuse she suffered while following an apostate ritual, and you defend the apostasy! God have mercy on you.
Remember, it wasn't so long ago all the 'allegations' of sexual abuse by priests were scoffed at, until they multiplied to the point of almost being unbelievable. Then, the RCC could NOT deny their 'dirty little secret'. I will say this, God has a way of exposing sin, whether it be one voice or many, sin will not go unnoticed. Homosexuality and lesbianism are an abomination to a Holy God. The 'true church' of Jesus Christ does not contain unrepentant sinners with unregenerate hearts. All are in bondage to sin, as is evidence both here. The false gospel preached by the RCC produces false converts, their 'bad fruit' reveals what they truly are...a bad tree.
If this were any other denomination, my comments would be the same.

This article is filled with sadness; nuns committing suicide, lesbianism now being exposed, bullying, and sexual abuse. The question is why? Because the RCC teaches a man-made doctrine and holds tradition as the 'highest authority', because they proclaim salvation to all who follow such. They popishly pronounce you 'saved' based on their traditions; they do it their way, not God's. The new birth from God is not granted through the RCC, or any denomination for that matter. It isn't based on a work; they miss it entirely...salvation is by grace, through faith, it is God's gift, given to you when you, as an individual, cry out to Him for mercy and forgiveness...from the heart. Religion based on 'feelings' and 'traditions' is not from God, nor does He honor such.
"Having a form of godliness, but denying its power. And from such people, turn away" 2 Tim. 3:5

Vogue/Wayne- you failed to read the WHOLE story...Obama supports civil unions. It's all about the wording, for example, we no longer call them 'homosexual', they are 'gay'...it's less offensive. It's subtlety at its finest.
You don't seem to be able to comprehend this fact, Obama supports two men or two women living in sin, committing abominations against a Holy God, he's okay with that. He just isn't comfortable with calling it marriage. Obama's playing a 'word game', trying to appease others with his stance.
Almighty God DETESTS the act of homosexuality, no matter what you may call it...the Great I Am calls it 'an abomination. Those who condone this are taking a stance against God and what His word says, regardless of how many 'smooth words' one may use.
BTW- I never supported Bush, or McCain. You need not say such things unless you have some sort of proof.

John Yurich~ the sermon my pastor delivered by God's grace and power brought you to mind. He spoke of those professing Christians who sit under doctrines of demons, and say nothing! They claim Jesus Christ, but cling to old ways. They dare not speak out the Gospel truth for fear of losing their 'place' in the 'synagogue'...much like the blind man's parents. Christ healed this blind man, when asked by the 'religious' Pharisees how this came to be, the blind man's parents reply, 'he is of age, ask him'. They put it back on their son because they feared the Jews and they feared losing their 'place in the synagogue'{John 9:22}.
For those such as yourself who keep quiet, Christ says this, 'For whoever is ashamed of me and my words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the Holy Angels'. Mark 8:38

Vogue/Dallas Tx/California/Wayne/So. California~ here is Obama's stance on homosexuality, from http://hottopics.gay.com/2009/01/obama-samesex-marriage.html
reporter-do you have a position on marriage vs. civil unions?

Barak Obama-'I am a fierce supporter of domestic partnership and civil union laws. I am not a supporter of gay marriage as it has been thrown about, primarily just as a strategic issue. I think that marriage, in the minds of a lot of voters, has a religious connotation. I know that's true in the African American community, for example..'

Barak Obama-'What I'm saying is that strategically, I think we can get civil unions passed. I think we can get sb 101 passed.

So Vogue/Wayne, tell us, how does this stance supporting 'civil unions', which is the same as 'same sex marriage' line up with scripture?
As for abortion, God hates the shedding of innocent blood {Proverbs 6:17}
Don't forget, 'thou shalt not murder'.
Enough said

All the wisdom in the world is useless w/o true genuine salvation, being born
from above.

As for your moniker, how is it you claim to be from Southern Cal., then California, and now Texas? Have you moved since last fall?

GG~ as for your referencing to the guest who was wrongly dressed, I take it you are referring to Matt. 22:1-14
All were invited to the marriage feast, this wrongly dressed man included. All guests were rounded up quickly {from the highways, vs. 9}, so they would not have had an opportunity to dress appropriately. Their wedding garments were supplied by the 'king' himself. This man's wrong dress implies he rejected the provisions offered by the king.
The whole imagery seems to reflect on those who profess Christ verbally, yet are void of the garment of righteousness, which is needed to be a part of this feast. They seek to establish a righteousness of their own, by following doctrines of demons and man-made traditions.
It is a false convert trying to align himself with Christ, but his 'dress', i.e., lack of being born from above, does not fool the Master.

GG~ you are confusing the curse of sin proclaimed by God on all mankind [as found in Genesis 3] with the individual accountability for sin. Physical death and decay, the results of the curse of sin brought about by Adam and Eve, will continue; Christ's death on the cross does not eliminate the curse proclaimed by God. Christ saves us from spiritual death, not physical.
I answered your 'if Jesus paid it all', quoting verses {Heb. 10:14, Heb. 10:25}. "IT IS FINISHED", complete, done, paid for in full. God forgives our sins because Christ suffered and died, then rose from the dead. I did not answer every question because we are only allowed to post so many words at once.
This world will continue to deteriorate until Christ returns. A new heaven and a new earth will be brought down, after this one passes away. God will make all things new, the curse of sin will be lifted, but not until this world is judged.
The 'Lord, Lord' reference you made is referencing false converts, those who claim Christ, but had never been born from above. It has nothing to do with God producing works or deeds in us.
As for the last judgment, NO born again believer is a part of this. This great white throne judgment is for unbelievers only.{read Revelation 20:11}
