John Y wrote,Naturally I do not go to confession on Saturdays and I have not been to confession in 30 years. What would the minister of that Baptist Church I attend on Sunday mornings say about what? You know why you don't attend confession? It's because you know you are a believer - priest right? You have no need to go to a man according to 1 John 1:9.. That very priesthood of the believer was accomplished by Jesus on the cross. It is one of the benefits of the finished work of Christ. Another thing that was accomplished was the removal of the sacrificial system..my point is this. Since mass means sacrifice, and Jesus is slain anew at every mass, why would you attend that church? I understand the draw of the Catholic Church, the peacefulness of the sanctuary, in comparison to many Protestant churches, where people are blabbing senselessly before church on Sunday. The beauty of the stained glass, etc...I don't think it's about doctrine with you( my opinion). If I were you, and obviously I'm not, why not look for a good conservative Presbyterian church near you? The doctrine would be MUCH better, the sanctuary is also conducive to worshipping the lord. ...my opinions John. Just my opinions |
