Great Sermon! This message change my life. I have never heard such a prohetic message for the coming of Christ. This message made me seriously repent of the sin in my life. I am a student of theology and when I heard this I got intorduced to Edwards theology. I am now a serious student of Edwards and i am now doing a dissertation on Edward's interpetaion of the return on christ. praise and glory be given to you oh Lord for ever and ever. Amen |

In reply to Lance, People like myself leave the Catholic CHurch on an informed dicision. It was whie studying the documents of Vatican two that we parted company. though there may be some on this sight that harbour bitterness that certainly would not be my positon. My best friend is R.C. That being said while I respect some Roman theologians, Benidicts new book on Jesus of Nazreth is excellent. It has to be said, as had been repeated before that we reject such nonsense as inulgences, that the mass is a work, not becasue we are ignorant of RC teaching but because of it. The whole Catholic theology is strung together by salvation by works, infused grace via the sacrements, thats why RC have to go to mass, etc and have mass's said when one is dead. It is the flase doctrine of trying to buy yur way into heaven; so if you do such and such you will get so many days out of purgatory What nonsense Failure to understand why somone would embrace the reformed faith is a failure to understand the true basis of this faith. That is to walk humby with our God knowing that it was his inmense love and grace that bought us with a price. It is not of oursleves, no, but because of his love and mercy. So in love I say 'come out from among them and be ye separate' |

As an ex- catholic, now reformed . I can say that first we do not have to prove that anyone individual, such as Mary, is a sinner because it is stated quite clearly in scripture that all are sinners ps 14:3 & Romans 3:23. All are decended from Adam&Eve therefore all are concived in sin, and in original sin. Such views as purgatory, anyone geting another chance after death is not known . Transubstantion equally was not a doctrine of the early church but was a result of Aquina's metaphysical theology. Luther rightly refuted these doctrine in his book. 'The Babylonian captivity of the Church' Those who still adhere to such foolisness I suggest, 1st a good reading of scripture,& 2 Luther's book. Know this,it was for this very reason that Luther rebelled against Rome. Because of the abusive doctrine of purgatory and Indulgences, justfication by faith, etc. If something contradicts what God has revealed or condemned, it is to be rejected. The very reason that I, and many others have left Rome.Rome needs to repent for its lies, lack of Bilical teaching and for locking up the Kingdom of GOd. |

Thank your for you words as I think that your are quite right,to test the spirits it is the right think to do. If i gave the impression that it does not matter what domination you belong I am sorry if I gave that impression. I don’t believe in Love without the truth. All I wanted to point out was that even Protestant Churches harbour sin. That while some are open in their sin ,such as homosexuality, there are those who are less honest about their lives. Its all very well having all the best creeds and confessions, but if we do not show love and compassion, but are full of hate and anger, are we then any different to those that we point the finger at? Christ said the way we judge will be the same way we will be judged, while not advocating toleration of false doctrine. Was this not the whole point of Jesus' teaching to the Pharisee’s, they had doted their I's & T's but forgotten to Love God and our Neighbours as themselves. I pray that God will keep you well. What Church do u belong do ? I look forward 2 ur comments |

Dear Albert Again you speak before you know the facts, I have read books and met those who say that they are christian and support such groups, apecifically the Uvf, Its niave of you to ignore the facts. have you not been watching the BBC news over the past year or so? Did you not see the signing of the peace treaty in storement? ANd having keep an eye on the new nad the papers I have not heard of any recnet voilence taking pace in Ulster. Surley the right think for you to do is to provide more enlightening information such as names and dates, and not you just hurling insluts does not help. If I am wrong I will be happy to say so, but you have provided up to date information before I can come into agreement with you.Hurling insluts really paints you in a bad light. I will pray that God will take away your anger, hurt and ignorance. And Hey Love you neighbour as your self |

Hi Wayne, thanks for your comments I am C of E, HOwever, I was not aware that I had to explain myself to anyone but God. Also there ar a lot of evangelicals in the C o E that would be loyal to Christ and the scriptures. Secondly, I converted from being Rc when I lived in Ireland 15 years ago, and was baptised into a a Baptist Church there.I go to a localchurch of england because I like that Church and they hold to the westmister confession of faith, although admitedly many now do not. HOwever Do not be diecieved in thinking that just because you belong to a particular denomination, that they are true to Christ, their have been just as many padiphiles, adultors, etc. in the prodestant Churches as there have been in the Catholic. Regarding the killing by the IrA, the Loyalist terror groups such as the UVF, and others were worse then the republicnas for sectarian killing, yet they still claimed to be Christian! But thank God alll parties have been at peace for the most part now and Ian Paisley and Gerry Adams work together for Northeran Ireland.Do you not think that GOd brings people to himself from all traditions? Do you actually think that GOd is a prodestant? Do you think that we alone have an momopoly on the truth? How Big is your GOd? Surely God cannot be limited? |

Hi walt I concur with you, at my students union in leeds i am always having to pull up the pentecostals for their misquoting of scriptures, everything from tounges to prosperity gospel It is all based on emotiveism, how you feel,"oh Ifeel the Lord is telling me this" rather than what the Word says. If I can humbly recommend a book to your well said comments called,'The Coming Evangelical Crisis edited by John H Armstrong' it really shows how even main stream evangelicals are forgetting ' the Five Sola's' It really does make you worry. God Bless |

Albert thnak you for you comments, but please everyone do not all jump on me all at once! I can see that you are pretty angry, i am surprised that you would refer to some of your famaily in a degorotive manner? and as I said there are and were great injuistices done on both sides of the divide, and as you will know one of Irelands strongest movements for home rule was a joint orgainsation of both catholic and prodestant called the united Irish men.Incedently the idea of the tri-coloor came from Ulster, great county that it is, but as a person who is born again, I am born again to love and not to hate. Why is there so much anger here?? If you read both side of the argument you come to realise that peace in Ulster was achived by dialouge and acknowldging both sides point.generating hate does not help anyone. I agree that we cannot agree doctrinally, but does that stop us being friends? I am a third year theology student here in Leeds, one of our tutors is eastern orthodox, another is like myself reformed, and two are catholic, and we often get together to chat, dispite that we do not always agree with each other. So while we can disagree theologicall surly that does not mean that we cannot act lovingly towards each other? Thats my argument, Am I wrong? |

I take peoples comments on board, antivaticanist is hiliarious, you really should go on stage, as i cannot stop laughing at your comments, just brilliant!I wish I was there in USA as i would love to have meet up with you! Ehud's comment are I think more to the point about Romes past, but its not be forgoton that even in Irelands histroy there was great bigotory against Ireland's Roman Cahtolic's. Even up to recent history Catholics is Ireland could not even get Jobs, and there social setting, such as housing, their hum rights were continually vioalted, their rights denied them, all because of Prodestandt bigot's. For true students of the reformation know, thre were great injustice's on both sides, so surly Ehud you must agree, that while you many not agree with Rome, that we should in the very least be tolorent and loving to our nieghbours. When prespryterians go to the souht of Ireland( crow Patrick) holding up banners ' you ere because you know not the scriptures',it is not surprising they do not get any converts |

hi Chuck I was encouraged by your comments. I am a catholic that converted to reformed faith. i am a theology student here in Leeds England. one of my lecturers is a Eastern Orthodos, another ins Catholic, another is Reformed. We share so much in common. Namely Jesus. Most people have no indecation how the scriptures came to us. You made sme good points regarding the Apocrpha. And it is true that we glean some good information from them. I think there are so many on this site that have tunnel vision. though I would now consider myslef reformed in doctrine, I enjoy the writing's of Pope Benedict. TYo those that are ignorant, his book on jesus of Nazareth is excellent. he stands as a Figure that fights for the advance of secularism and reltivism. There are amny of us in the not so Roamn traditon that do admire in the currnet pope. He stands as a figure that fights agains evil and injustice. We are all members of the universal body of the Church which in itself is Catholic, but we are not without order as you suggest, as our head is Christ. But as a scholar and as a Christian I welcome you comments Yours in Christ Jenny |

As a convert from Catholism,( Iwas once in religious order in Irelan) I am surprised that Blair has gone over to Rome. My main reson for converting was of grace. I could o longer stay withing the RC Church as they thought that the mass was a worl, and I had to in the end reject transubstantiation. But as a follower of Jesus I am shocked at the amount of bigotry that I have read here. Even though we disagree with Rome in dcotrine are we not still to call to love our neighbours as ourselves If you read Benidicts new book on Jesus, there is much in there that we can agree on. Sholud that not be are startin point? to acknowledge our diffrences but to celebrate that which we share in common? |

Challenging and motivating I found this series of four sermons by Edwards challenging and motivation. To press into the kingdom and to imitate Christ, to be like Christ is to be the light of the world |
