Jim, your disdain for God's Word is frightening. The statements you have made on SA about the Scriptures are horribly misguided.
Unfortunately, there are many on SA with similar beliefs. Blessed be the name of the Lord for giving us the King James Authorized Bible.

The text put together by Westcott and Hort IS USED by 'most' of the modern versions. Which was used as the basis for the ERV!
Actually, you should say all modern Bibles and not "most". The first clue is when you look at the first verse in any modern version. That includes the nkjv.

KJV says;

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

All the modern versions say "heavens" when "heaven" is the correct usage. And yet the modern versions in verse 8 use "heaven" and not the plural usage. So someone is deluded.

Brother Don says,

"He does not believe in limited atonement, but believes that Christ died for all. After hearing this great Biblical error, can I trust everything else he says? Any feedback?"

So, when any version of the Bible say "all, everyone, the world", it is wrong but actually means "some"?

The Church is never about some old building but the gathering of believers. I believe that the Churches then were house Churches. Scripture doesn't indicate otherwise.

The only correct way to fix the NIV (and it's counterparts) is throw them in the fire.

The supposed "High Profile" Catholic politicians are certainly NOT Catholic.
If what you say is true, then why haven't these people (Kennedy, Pelosi, The Mafia) been ex-communicated? Or maybe money speaks louder than words or even actions.

Really now. Wasn't Cain a farmer?

Jim Lincoln, if the young earth theory that you debunk isn't true, then wouldn't you be making GOD out to be a liar?

Jim Lincoln, First, most of the so-called "nuts and fruits" live in 2 metropolitan areas of the state. Much of California is conservative.
Second, Many of those nuts are transplants from other states.
Third, if you think that there is nothing but warm weather in this state, then you should spend time in San Francisco. Average temp. most of the year is mid 60's.

Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

many passages in Scripture tell us that we must back our faith up with works.
You are wrong here. Works is the EVIDENCE of our faith. If you have to work your way to Heaven, then there really is no need for a Saviour.

BTW, If Mary is the "mother" of God, why not just dwell on her?

Tony, the AV is copyrighted or I should say the same idea, in Great Britain. So, you are wrong there. I have "proved" what I said from such articles, by a noted theologian,
Jim,

You are wrong here. If you look at plain text KJV Bibles, you will see that they are not copyrighted. The KJV with notes such as Ryrie, Scofield and others are copyrighted. But that is due to their notes and not the text itself.

How do muslims pray anyway. Isn't it 5 or 6 times a day bowing toward Mecca? Will he make the pilgrimage on a state diplomatic tour of Saudi Arabia?

Someone, please help me with my confusion. If the Dutch translators translated the dutch bible from the English KJV 1611, is it a valid translation? Are we Dutch using the wrong version? Should I purchase a dutch bible translated from the KJV, and if so, can anyone give me a British Publishing House that has done this. I wouldn't trust an American one because American English is different from British English.

Watch out, Tony. You sound like the Muslims only reading the Koran in Arabic. Maybe you need to go back to the Greek and Hebrew; the King James was only translated in the 1600's. Or Catholics might say go back to the Latin. The King James is an excellent, trustworthy translation, and I don't care for some of the new translations either (I like New King James myself; the trustworthy translation without the archaic language). But jjjj is right; this is the word of God, nonetheless.
Explain what you mean by going back to the Greek/Hebrew? Which one? They are not all the same.

Here is what John Gill says;
In composition, evil, denoting something bad or wrong, is often contracted to ill.
It is an immoderate insatiable desire after it, and an inordinate love of it, which is here meant, such as is properly idolatry: as when a man loves it, not only besides, but above God; serves it as if it was God, and places his trust and confidence in it, independent of God, and his providence; such love of it is the source and spring of all iniquity, as above; it was the sin of Judas, and the root of all his iniquity. The phrase is Jewish. So idolatry is said to be עיקר כל עונות, "the root of all iniquities"
