I Think Christiana has a point here and it raises the age old problem of male domination. While it is easy to cite quotes in favour of a set opinion, it blatantly ignores both the gifts and intelligence of many capable women. I get so tired of hearing this argument. I really believe that Scripture has to be approached contextually. I find that there are many men who really do not like being told what to do by a women and that is the real issue. It is to be observed that for many years that male rule was nothing but oppressive to women. In other countries where there has been male domination, such as Islamic states, it has been clear that this not only subjects the women to abuse by denying them the right to a career or an education, and what does it say about the society that enforce these regimes. So I think there has to be a balance. To suggest that women should not be allowed to hold a public office is a disgraceful thing to say and just displays ignorance and prejudice. This could also be applied to some churches who do not allow any involvement in their service, not even to do a reading or to greet people as the come in! If women had the gifts and capabilities to fulfil a certain role then why should she not be allowed to fill it? |

Great Sermon! I really enjoyed listening to this and the fact that it was read by a woman makes it all the more better, as I enjoy books read by women. The lady who reads it is clear and precise and accessable. |

Is God with you or not ? It is often the case for many of us that, we are not too sure if God wants us to do something or not. Well here Spurgeon, in beautiful language tells us how to know. If the wind is in the mulberry tree then you shall know. This is a simple and beautiful sermon. It is read beautifully |

Great Sermon! Rev Thomas has a lovely gently voice to listen to, God be praised, but more to the point, as an Ex-Cathoic from Co. Wicklow Ireland, I concur with the comments mentioned in this section. It is always hard to learn that any oganisation that you once loved is corrupt, but to those who may just be learnig, we do not hate R.C's but we preach the truth in Love. Know that error is not love nor is it the truth, and the Father is seeking those who will worship Him in Spirit and Truth, not in flasehood. Come and learn what it is to know the sweet Love of Christ and you will never regret leaving an organisation that is full of pagaism and deciet. |

Great Sermon! Listen to this sermon and the next. It has greatly helped me in my evangelism. Edwards lays out cleary why men when born are born in depravity. These two sermons are well complimented by his other sermon,'Why men are in a dreadful condition' not to be missed by those who witness to the lost. It has a great effect on them when you plead with great ernest and love why the sinner in their natural state are in great danger. If we really believe this Gospel there is a great respnosiblity on us to tell the lost of their dreadful condition. |

Spurgeon is great ! Here Spurgoen speaks abut the importace of the work of the Holy Spirit in Christ's ministry. As Christiana has said we so often forget that if we are to be sucessful we need the Holy Spirit or our labour is in vain |

greatly needed advice Dr Barnett is both helpful and informative.
As an ex Catholic I find his method very helpful as this was the way that I was brought to the Lord. Get them to read the passages and ask them 'what do you think that passage is teaching? that way they come to the knowledge of truth themsleves without feeling they have been pressurised. If they give the wrong answer gently ask them to re-read the passage asking them questions, 'is that what the passage is really saying'? Allow them to come to the knowledge of truth themsleves. Remeber the one who keeps asking the questions is the one who is in control. Its often called the Columbo method. Though ultimetly it is the work of the Holy Spirit. So lots of prayer! Get them to awaken their critical thinkging by getting them to question their own beliefs. |

Needs to heard by Catholic and Protestants I was brought up in Catholic Ireland and I joined a Religious Order when I was 19. It was when I went to convert some Protestants that I engaged in a 6 month debate, that led to my conversion to the true Gospel. I now live in England and I am shocked at the amount of Catholics and Protestants that know littel or nothing about RC teachings. Most protestants do not even know why the are Protestants! When I inform people the true nature of RC teaching. Most are shocked! Some at first find it hard to believe when I tell them about the claims of the Papacy and her doctrines of works and lies. Its faith ++++. Many need to hear Dr Barnetts various sermons on RC.I now as a Protestant Theologian, intend to inform as many Catholics and Protestants as I can. Lets get the message out and stop being so passive and 'nice' Lets preach the truth with love, gentleness and firmness. I thank those Christians who with great patience taught me the true gospel of Christ. At first I was very upset and felt that I had been lied to as I realised that I could not go back to my Order and the RC Church. At first I was devesated as I loved the community I was in. But now I rejoice in the great love and freedom of Christ. Who shows Grace to the uttermost. Preach on Dr Barnett! I am with you! |
