DJC49 wrote: You wish to compare parables to verses such as: [John 10:27,28] [Rom 8:29,30] [Phl 1:6] [Eph 1:13,14]Romans 10:9,13 John 6:37-40,47 Romans 8:1 1 John5:11-13; 2:19 Ephesians 1:4,5; 4:30 1 Peter 1:3-5 Romans 8:38-39 Jude 24 NONE of these verses is "clear doctrinal proof of eternal security." They are verses that heretical preachers twist to SAY it proves it. This is why dispys throw mud on the words of Jesus, say they are "just historic." Also, the "great falling away" -- how can you fall away from something you were never part of? Jesus said to abide in him. Otherwise, one would dry up and be broken off. How does one get broken off from something he was never part of? How does one get blotted out of the Book of Life if he was never in it to begin with? The verses you cite are not clear doctrine at all proving any kind of eternal security based either on a one-time burst of faith or a one-time "choosing" by God. Many Christians died for their faith knowing if they denied Jesus, he would deny them. Wake up.It's time. The church has been royally "had." Life is a big test, a sifting, in addition to a purifying. Fatalism is a lie, a one-way ticket to Hell. |

DJC49 wrote: Matthew 18:23-35 is a parable. It's probably not the case that the parable of the Unforgiving Servant is about losing one's salvation, but rather the importance of forgiveness in the life of a Christian... in the light of clear doctrinal passages in Scripture which teach salvation as something that cannot be lost... There are no clear doctrinal passages that teach salvation cannot be lost. Just the opposite. Parable of hte sower, the lazy servant, unjust servant, five betrothed virgins are examples. To write them off as just "parables" as though the words of Jesus were just silly stories to be ignored is utter folly. The "so-called" Lord's prayer, as the hyper dispys like to call it, prays that we may be forgiven as we forgive others. The parable of the debtor who would not forgive ends with the debtor being thrown in prison and paying a hundred-fold. The lazy servant and the backslidden servant were thrown into Hell, and the 5 virgins who went dry were locked out of Heaven. It's obvious to me that Jesus teaches that we must forgive if we expect to be forgiven. If we are not forgiven, we are not saved. Those who do not forgive will find their names are blotted out of the book of life. |

comment wrote: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: ***for all men have not faith.*** (2Th 3:2) This is talking about living faith, not dead faith of unreasonable and wicked men. Unreasonable and wicked people hate the truth and deliberately choose to believe lies against what they know is true.Romans says God reveals himself to all by his Creation and there is no excuse for anybody not to believe. Faith is believing. Knowing what's true is one thing. Acting on it is something else. Acting on what you know is true, that's what faith is. Better to not know, than to know and not do. Nobody is judged for what they do not know, only for what they know and do not act upon. The Bible also says whatever is not of faith is sin. Acting on Truth is faith. Acting on a wilful lie, or in flat denial of Truth, is sin. Sin is the opposite of faith. |

Icon O'Clast wrote: Peanut you muddy the waters then talk about clarification. There is none that seeks after God, no, not one! You want to argue with that? I gave a long list of texts which clearly describe man's condition. That is the gospel my friend, anything else is an accursed lie! The question is whether God loves everybody, not whether everybody needs God or needs to be saved. The discussions here are just a bunch of people discoursing with themselves about anything they want, regardless of what the topic is. |
