I havenât heard the archangel, THBCC. The dead in Christ havenât come out of their graves. Living saints have not been raptured. AND DONALD TRUMP IS NOT THE TRUMP OF GOD. The trump of God is a trumpet, not a man. Next youâll be telling us that Mike Pence is Gabriel.
By âTrumpians, Jim, I assume you mean people who, unlike yourself and other liberals, actually love America and want to see her blessed and prospering. In that case, Iâm proud to be a Trumpian, a âdeplorableâ who did not and would not vote for Hellery. Cuba is calling you, Jim. Put on your beret and go.
Jim, what difference does it make which version of the Bible you use if you have no intention of obeying it anyway? In the King James Version, Exodus 23:2 says, âThou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment.â Your beloved ESV says, âYou shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice.â Either way, you are a rebellious and disobedient reprobate who not only endorses the wickedness of the God-hating Democratic Party, but urges others to follow their pernicious ways as well. I donât give a rip what John Ankerburg or NPR or Bozo the Clown has to say. What does GOD say? And why do you continually ignore Him? Finished here for now. A blessed Veterans Day to allâincluding Jimâwho served to defend our freedomsâeven the freedom to be idiots.
But James, surely we mustnât introduce FACTS into the argument! Not when we have such strong FEELINGS about the âreadabilityâ of the NIV (non-inspired version) and the âaccuracyâ of the ESV (essentially satanic version). People who refuse to accept the truth ABOUT the Bible can hardly be expected to receive the truth OF the Bible.
According to Deuteronomy 29:1-4, the Israelites had seen Godâs great miracles, but they didnât âget itâ simply because God had not ENABLED them to get it. No doubt the His Popiness has read the Bible, or at least some semblance of it, from cover to cover, but Satan has blinded his mind (Ii Corinthians 4:3-4) so that he is unable to perceive the truth of salvation by grace alone in the Son of God. Unless and until God supernaturally removes this blindness, the poor lost soul will never understand true doctrine. He deserves our contempt, but he needs our prayers. God can as easily save Francis as He saved any of us.
âRomeo, Romeo, where you at?â âHey, whatâs that light in the window? Land sakes, itâs Juliet! Why, dog my cats!â The same âscholarsâ who insist that the KJV needs to be updated would bristle with outrage if one suggested that Shakespeare needed the same treatment, Jim. Not that they are literate enough to read Shakespeareâor the Bible, for that matter. The solution to ignorance is education, not capitulation to ignorance. Instead of railing against the best translation ever given, perhaps you should get saved and get an education.
Amen, Brother John. People give all kinds of reasons why theyâll be glad to get to heavenâno sickness or pain, reunion with loved ones, etc. While these are all valid, for my own part I think the thing I look forward to most is saying goodbye forever to my own corruptions. No tempter! No temptation! No more sin nature! No wonder we shall be forever praising King Jesus.
Does the NIV do a good job of ignoring the fact that the Alexandrian manuscripts on which it is based were deliberately corrupted well before they were discovered in a trash can, Jim? Yes. Does it ignore the fact that Westcott and Hort believed that if one manuscript was shorter than another, the shorter one was automatically correct? Yes, it does. Does it ignore the fact that Westcott was an infidel who did not believe the miracles in the Bible really took place and that Hort was a heretic who believed Darwin was right and God was wrong? It certainly does. Yes, the NIV does a superb job of ignoring the truthâjust like you do, Jim.
Good points, Doug. The government makes a mess of everything it tries to manage. And oh by the way, why are we still funding a National Endowment for the Arts? Why not a National Endowment for Ditch Diggers? If an artist is so lousy he or she canât make a living, there are plenty of jobs available.
Jim, Iâm sure we all want to study the most accurate version of the Bible. In pursuit of that objective, I will abandon my KJV and adopt the NIV instead if you can just explain what any one of the following verses means as it appears in the NIV: Matthew 17:21, 18:11 or 23:14, or Mark 11:26 or 15:28 or Acts 8:37.
Jim, when I was 17, I was a high school dropout with a low-paying job at KFC. At 18, I joined the Navy in order to better myself, get an education, and do better in the future. I could have done like many people in low-paying jobs and sat on my butt during my time off, complaining about how the government wasnât âdoing enoughâ for me. Instead I got cracking and WORKED (wow, imagine that!) to change my circumstances. Isnât it way past time people stopped using race and supposed oppression by âthe manâ as an excuse for indolence and lack of ambition?
