I feel bad that the "conversation" in this/in these forums have nothing to do with the subject on hand. In this case, the age of the earth.

I'm baffled that there is no overseer in these forums and that anyone can say whatever they want without being monitored.

I recently came across this open forum and was so delighted. After reading many comments and opinions, I'm discouraged to say the least. By the way, I love open forums!!!!!!!!!!!

Another "light" going out. First, Jerry Falwell and now Dr. J. Kennedy. I give these men much credit for coming out and telling it like it really is. These men are not perfect and they have had there shortcomings in their preaching. It's quite easy to preach in your own congregation and speak the truth according to Scripture. Most people in your local church will agree, but take the same truth to the "streets", the gov't., etc, it's quite different!

The sad part "who will replace these men"? I have heard some error in a couple of these preacher's sermons, but I'm not the judge, I don't believe any pastor preaches a "perfect" sermon. Comparatively, look at the errors right here in this forum. This is a fairly small group of people compared to millions having heard the above mentioned pastors!

It's too bad that this church doesn't have Romans 1 in their Bible. If they did, just this one chapter alone would show them the way God looks at this most horrendous sin. There are many other parts of the Bible that clearly show "same-sex" marriage and homosexuallity is a very henious sin. I would imagine that these many other chapters are missing in their Bible also, otherwise they would certainly see the error of their ways.

Going back to the founding fathers, earlier settlers, etc., etc. this country has always been known as a Christian country. Most were Christians. The majority of religious expression today is still Christianity in these United States. We do not go to other countries and try to change their religion from the top, down. If
people feel uncomfortable with being in a Christian country, it would probably be in their best interest to live in another country that promotes and practices their faith. The solving of this problem is so easy. In Rome we do as the Romans do. I do mean what I've written, very kindly.

Pastor Ron,

You are very correct in all what you said. I find it difficult to comprehend that people believe they can lose their salvation. The Scriptures are very clear that they cannot! If people are constantly falling into a certain sin, they may want to examine themselves whether they're saved at all!. On the other hand, if they fall into a certain sin from time to time, they will automatically cry to God for a hatred of that sin and ask for forgiveness. Paul says, shall we continue in sin that grace may abound, GOD forbid etc., etc.!

I think of the verse in scripture that says, "do not let you right hand know what your left hand is doing". The fact that one person did alot of good works and the whole world knows about it, makes one wonder. Who wanted the honor. I, personally know of people who do wonderful works, as well, such as adopting medically fragile children, etc., and hardly one person knows about it.

Leave it to the Bible to give short, powerful, answers, conclusions! I believe the Bible says it all in one verse " how can two walk together, unless they agree?...end of discussion!

Abigail,

I hope you are doing well. I just wanted to comment on a few words from your excerpt last evening re: conflicts that some believers have with another, etc. I know myself, that sometimes I write or comment on an article and after posting it, I think, that's not really how I "kinda" meant it. I think that happens more in these forums. I think, we as Christians, should have more patience and tolerence with one another considering we are wrting from one sinner to another sinner. I hope you know what I'm trying to say.

I really enjoy this forum, however I get discouraged when I read how one person treats another here in this forum at times.

If an unbeliever would come into these forums, what kind of examples would he/she be observing?

I must say that I enjoy all of your opinions, Abigail. I believe you're "right on" with what you say. In other words, you've done your homework before you write.

I do wish that there was a forum on SA re: how to live the Christian life, etc. I selected you as a "sounding board" because you seem to have it, by God's grace", all together.

Please keep up the good work that you're doing here!

Take care,
Donnie

This article hardly makes any sense. What the one has to do with the other, I'll never know. What I do know and what makes sense is that if we live by God's "rulebook", The Bible, we wouldn't have articles not making sense, being printed in the papers. This article is just another reason why people desperately need the Lord!

I think we should all stick with just this subject. 1 RC bishop in a tiny country gave his own opinion, not the opinion of the entire worldwide RC church! Don't get me wrong, I'm not agreeing with this man or the false church he represents, but I think we should keep to the subject!

Mike,

I agree with you 100%!!In the line of work that I do, I have an opportunity to speak with a number of RC's. We have some good conversation and I always make sure not to be rude, arrogant, etc., but I try to have some good, Biblical, edifying conversation. I've mentioned to a number of them that we shouldn't pray to the saints because they don't hear us. They needed a Saviour just as well as we do. I've mentioned how wrong it is to pray to Mary. She, herself said in her own song, [The Song of Mary], "my soul rejoices in God my Saviour"! On and on the errors go with many of these dear people. They are sincere, but sincerely wrong. When I, in a caring spirit and tone of voice point to the many errors of the RC church, they AGREE with me and yet keep going to hear more errors, etc. It has me baffled. I, myself don't want to be decieved. Eternity is too long. I just had to share this because it's all in God's word, nothing else!!

I would just like to state my opinion re: Catholics, Protestant, Jewish, etc.

I believe we can "all" get along together provided we all use the same "text book"..in this case, the Bible. As long as we believe that a person is dead in sins and trespasses and needs to be born again, we can agree. We must believe that Jesus, alone, is the Head of His Church. We must also all agree that Jesus died for His people to save them from their sins. We go to God directly in prayer and to none other. We plead to God for Jesus' sake alone. If we believe what was just said in these few statements [ which are clearly taught in the Bible ],not my opinion at all, I don't see how it could be any different. The people of God who are led by God through His holy Spirit and His Word should by all means be together in one accord. If they're not, they may want to check out what the Bible has to say re: a certain "church" doctrine, etc. Psalm 133 even speaks about the beauty of christian fellowship. Let us pray more and more for unity based upon the true meaning of God's Holy Word, the Bible!!

Mike,

I believe there are 2 "categories" of people in this world. The 1 "category of people" are born again Christians who are saved and the other "category" are the unsaved people. Both "born again as well as the unsaved have a freewill to sin. The big difference is that the saved people will fight against sin. If they sin, it will surely bother them and they will repent of their sin asap. The unsaved also have a freewill to sin, however it will not bother them that they have offended God, Jesus, who bought them, etc. as does the saved ones. When it comes to choosing God to save them, if they truly become saved, they will afterward exlaim that it was God wanting to save them and not the other way around. Jesus said, You have not choosen me but I have choose you. And again, the verse states " I am found of them who sought me not". I know these 2 verses are clearly stated in the Bible, but I cannot think of where they are at the moment. I believe the 1 is in the book of Isaiah. This is a "doctrine" that I've struggled with for quite awhile, however as I read the Bible and compare one verse with another throughout the Bible, I see this doctrine to be crystal clear. No freewill whatsoever to "choose for Christ" because we are "spiritually dead". I hope this clears it up abit.

I believe in God's sovereignty and mans responsibility. We are free to sin or not. If we are truly saved we will not want to sin at all, However, becasue we are not in Heaven yet, as believers, we still will sin. We will repent and be sorry for our sins, of course. We will have the old nature striving daily with the new nature. An unbeliever will sin and it will not bother him like it would bother a believer because he still only has one nature in him...the old nature. Of course, the conscience can bother him, but it's not the same as true, Godly sorrow for sin. If man, on the other hand, has a freewill to choose Christ or not, we must eliminate many, many verses of Scripture. I'm really amazed that in this forum where some have quite abit of knowledge, some still believe in freewill and not in God's sovereignty which is very clear in Scripture. I don't understand why God saves some and not others but I'm not God. I just have to say, let God be God.

We have 50 governors and 1 president in these United States. In addition we have an FBI as well as many law enforcement officials. You name it, we got it, re: "lawmakers" and the like. On and on it goes. These men and women are being paid good money to make and enforce laws, such as gun control laws.

The guns are not the problem. The heart that Jeremiah speaks about is the problem. He says that "the heart is deceitful above all things, desperately wicked, who can know it"? If the "lawmakers" from the president on down aren't doing anything re: abortion [murder is a better word],let's call a spade a spade", how can we expect people who have the authority to change guncontrol, change even a law like this. The Bible [God's lawbook/rulebook for the human race says "the natural man recieves not the things of God, because they are spiritually discerned. Only when a heart is changed by Almighty God, through Jesus Christ, can we expect the "right" things to start happening. People then will not ask for guns, but a sword, and the sword is the Word of God". Let those of us who know the grace of God, pray more and more fervently that hearts will be changed, from the president on down. "if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into the ditch" {the Bible says this]. Search the Bible!

To All my brothers and sisters in Christ,

So many have responded to this "Sunday" forum that I don't know what else to add! I would like to add one more thought, that, the Bible says, "where your treasure is, there will be your heart also". So many have been very Biblical about this subject. We know that Sunday has become the New Testament Sabbath when we study the original Greek. Some, sadly to say, still believe that Saturday is still the Sabbath but they have not looked into the original texts/ meaning/terms. The Lord is still powerfull to open their eyes, we know! If the Sabbath Day/Sunday is not uppermost re: the days of the week, we may well ask ourselves, what does the Lord and His word/Day mean to us??
The Lord gave us this day for worship, rest [just as His commandment says], and people don't acknowledge and thank Him for this day. May our Lord open the blind souls eyes for these precious truths and benefits, before it's TOO LATE!!!

Abigail,

It's good to read your messages/responses's to many in this forum. I appreciate all of your posts here because you quote the Bible and quote it "properly". You compare Scripture with scripture which I find some do not do in these rooms. We are so priveleged to have a forum like this. When I read some of the "unscriptural feedback" at times, I feel discouraged because some are not doing their homework and coming to conclusions that are not totally Scriptual, such as the doctrine of election, predestination, etc. I just had to share with you, sister in the Lord!

Don from New Jersey

P.S. Don't stop the good work that you're doing here in these rooms!!

Hi Norman,

Thanks for your encouraging letter. I'm glad you had a wonderful Lord's Day. You seem quite blessed. You sound like a person who I would enjoy talking with and having a cup of coffee over some good, Godly conversation with. We are so priveleged to have a room like this where we can discuss Biblical matters with anything else that might be on our minds. I feel sad sometimes that verses in Scripture are not understood in their original meaning or intent and are somehow misinterpreted because of lack of True, Biblical insight. We need more study of God's Word in these rooms. The more I read peoples comments, the more I see the lack of Biblical teaching in peoples lives, etc. For instance, when I write on a "clearly crystal clear meaning of the word "election and predestination", I am totally baffled at the misunderstanding and, pardon me, ignorance on this very important word in Scripture. Just because I can't grasp or understand with my finite mind, some Biblical doctrine, doesn't mean it means something else. I pray that God will open the "spiritual eyes" of many sincere folk in these rooms Thanks aain for some encouragement! By the way, in what part of the world do you live?

In Him,

Donnie, from New Jersey

JD,

I had hoped to get back to you earlier regarding your comments yesterday. I must say I ahve done my homework, therefore I can say what I say. ...Compared Scripture with Scripture, looking into the original greek and Hebrew, etc. People who have a shallow understanding of God's word or who hardly knows what the bible says for example [the word election] etc. would perhaps believe your opinion. Once these people got into the Bible and started studying prayerfully, comparing Scripture with Scripture, cheching out the original meanings of this word [election] for example, and other true Biblical teachings brought up from time to time in this room, they would surely see the true intent of these verses, doctrines, etc. I know these words "predestined, elect, election..are hard to understand and seem very unfair, but we have to come to grips with these and many, many other verses that clearly teach us that God does the saving. "All that the Father hath given to me shall come to me", and another " ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and another " I am found of those who sought me not, etc, etc, etc. This space is much too small to include all the texts and verses that truly explain that God does the saving and choosing. May God open our spiritual eyes while there'stime
