It is worthwhile to note that Trinitarian Bible Society on their annual calendars have no ‘special’ church days recognized except the Lord’s Day. No Xmas, Lent, Black Friday, Ishtar, Mom and Pop Day....and on and on.
William Gurnall wrote in the 1600s,: “We are commanded not to be conformed to this world~that is, not to compromise ourselves with the corrupt customs /practices of our day.The Christian must not be such a compliant tailor as to cut the coat of his profession according to popular fashion. Instead he must clothe himself in the garments of truth. It takes great courage to disregard the abasement you will surely meet for your nonconformity”.
Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior said to worship God in Spirit and Truth, not after the traditions, myths and paganism of fallen sinners. I agree with John UK 👍.
Most of the IFB along with the SBA have this ‘plan of salvation’ in their gatherings. It is referred to as decisional regeneration by other denominations who do not employ this method. The Bible calls it another Gospel.
Dr.Tim, sorry I don’t trust church leaders whose eye is on the collection plate and not the welfare of the people. Most in my community have complied, but there are a certain group who have not, and are so brash as to wear their side iron in open view on the pulpit and pew.👎
The brick and mortars are in civil disobedience for remaining open for gatherings of 10 or more people. Restaurant, bars, senior centers and casinos have all complied. But the gatherings of some who call themselves believers are saying “no not us”.shame on you what a horrible witness ya’ll are. Better read Romans 13 and see what God commands His own to obey.
Thank you Adriel and Chrisgp, I was really only being facetious, as I have heard that term coming from so many men in pulpits who fancy themselves some great ones.
Just exactly what or who is laity?? I find no such word in my Bible.Best to use God’s Words and not the popish man made terminologies to keep the serfs in line.
Thought provoking words US.By the Grace of God may we all restrain our lips and not multiply our words unto sin. All of God’s best to you on this pilgrim journey.
Dear B, McCausland- I agree with many of your excellent points.Where I differ is, I don’t assume everyone I engage with on a Christian forum is regenerate. I’m afraid that even with believers our carnal nature can overtake us and we act more like the ungodly.(to our shame) Was not my intention to be a flame thrower, just giving an opinion.
As a Christian lady who occasionally posts on this forum I will say that most of the gentleman who are on here as well as my own dear husband, will not abide a women who corrects every little nuance, jot, or tittle. We ladies have that tendency 🙂 and we do have to keep it in check. Not trying to butt in, just giving my assessment of the situation as it appears to me.
When the only Gospel of free and Sovereign Grace is preached, the elect of God will have their hearts opened by God, repent of their dead works and look to Jesus Christ as their only Hope. The ‘offer’ that FG and his ilk bring is no gospel but a carnival barkers circus entertainment show with all of the usual suspects. Martyn Lloyd-Jones in the 60’s boycotted BG and refused to be on the same platform with him and his Roman Catholic buddies.
It’s been my experience that folks overseas who have lost their rights to bear arms, take on a very pious attitude of being sooo much more ‘ spiritual’ than the Americans who still have that right. Please get over it, and stop all this pious pandering.
