Amen, Penned. My friend and a son and his family are very concerned about the way the SBC has given us a new president that is.way out there in a liberal stand and we will see how it changes things and that will cause us to leave for sure.
Hi Penned, thanks for sharing that it is something to be concerned about. All these preachers going astray is unbelievable!! At least we are on the same page and in agreement on most things. John Uk, thatās so encouraging about our words whether written or spoken are from the Spirit of God and worth way more than 2cents. I have to battle the enemy over that one.I only speak what is from my heart and then worry that it will be taken the wrong way. If I can be uplifted by others on here then God must want me to speak His Word as well. You know I thought exactly as you do about Tozer giving a āprophetic ā message to the Church today as he spoke about it in the 50s because he died of a heart attack around 1965. I kept thinking it sounds so much like our churches today only it has to be much worse in todayās world!!
John UK, the scripture you gave from Matthew and the Sermon on the Mound proved to be a great encouragement to me recently when I was faced with a decision I had to make. I had been given a rescue dog who had not been claimed by the owners even though all effort had been done so to find. I took her and after a week I took her to the Vet for checkup and shots etc. Bought a collar, food bed as well. A few days later the owners were found. She was told to pay for the bill I had paid on her dog by the rescue people. She refused and I immediately thought of scripture about if someone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. Matt.5:40. She even threatened to bring the Sheriff with her to get the dog. I gave everything to her even the collar and bed. I was not even given a Thank You but I felt so blessed by God and no animosity toward her even though I was out 200.00 dollars.
My thoughts on this article is that Jesus showed us who God is and that is enough for me.He is my Father and my name is written on the palm of his hand. Isaiah 49:16 See,I have inscribed you on the palms of My Hands.. He is my provider for all my needs. When I look at Jesus I see God and all that God is.
Hi Lurker, yes doing well. Thanks for asking and hope all is well with you also. Interesting posts lately just canāt resist saying something when it touches me and miss reading every ones comments as well.
Hi John Uk, I have to say I do not have a lot to comment on but sometimes I read comments and feel strongly I need to add my ā2 cents ā and thatās all it is, just my thoughts.l will go to Bible Gateway because I need all the help I can get and your thoughts are the closest to mine. Miss sharing with others as well that I donāt always agree with. Now that SBC has a new president that is progressive in his beliefs I am very concerned . Thanks for always being there for your help and encouragement.
I have a big problem with the newer songs that are sung in our church with the band and loudness of the music. It doesnāt have a worshipful feeling to me. I agree with A.W. Tozer about how our churches are today not much Spirit but more entertainment. To bring in the younger generation is the purpose Iām told. So no one complains much anymore. So when I read the books by A.W. Tozer and his āMornings With Tozer ādevotionals, I feel understood!! Tozer never owned a car from what I have read about him but used public transportation instead. Canāt accuse him of being wealthy or worldly or pastor of a mega church. He wrote several books but most or maybe all the proceeds went back into his ministry or missions. So I can understand where he is coming from. I have listened to his sermons here on SA.
This has to be the most devastating thing to happen to anyone. Two brother-in-laws died within a few months of each other. One a Christian died in his sleep the other shot himself. A lot of back pain and disability caused him to give up.Prayers needs to be prayed for the family thatās left to live with that anguish. So sad.
Diane, I have been on here a few years and have stopped trying to understand his posts and will be very worried if I do start understanding what he is talking about. By the way I am on Facebook as well to keep up with family members Lol. Never hear much otherwise, even a grandson in the Marines no matter what part of the world he is in can contact me. I have pictures of myself and family on there. Keep in touch with friends where I raised my children and went to church before I moved away after husband retired. Play a few games on there, all clean fun. Anybody want to be my friend on there?? Will give a face to the comments I make. š¤
I read a book written by Dale Evans on the child her and Roy Rogers had, born with Down Syndrome. The book, Angel Unaware was talking about the blessings that this little girl had brought into their lives . They were both Christian so they could see Godās hand at work in all their lives.
Ladybug, I refuse to argue about this because you will still believe in your thoughts whether true or not and nothing but confusion and anger will come from it and thatās playing into the trap of the enemy to cause confusion and discord.
My Bible says Jonah was swallowed by a big fish not a whale. What your point was I never saw because you didnāt exactly tell what Graham ās point was in saying that in the first place??!! You have your own agenda on here just like the Pharisees in Jesus ās day and Paul and the martyred, it is not what you want to hear or believe . Dr. Tim, you are right and your post is actually true. By the way on this video Billy Graham said, He did not understand everything in the Bible but he believed every word was true.I have sat under pastors that said things totally against what the Bible said and actually explained away the miracles including The flood and Jesus being born of a virgin. I had a Bible Study that me and a group of women attended to keep us focused on the truths of God. Thing is many just could not see it. We need to study His Word so we can be aware in the days we are now living in.
I just finished watching a video on Billy Graham ās life on Fox News and it was amazing is all I can say. I never really understood how God used this man to touch the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. I never knew all of the ins and outs of why he preached in places that could have brought his ministry to a halt like Russia and Romania. He was talking to his team on the plane with the warnings of this meeting in Russia could very well be the end of their ministry. Of course it didnāt because Godās will was being done. He stated that The Gospel was to be preached in all the world and these needed to hear that Jesus loved them and died for their sins as well. Like Paul and Jesus included the Gentiles in salvation and that did not go over well and men sought to stop that message. Fake news spreads faster than truth. Paul was followed from town to town stirring up mobs to kill the message by attacking those carrying it. Paul was stoned and Jesus crucified and Satan is still trying to stop the gospel of Jesus.
Amen, Carl from Greensboro, reminds me of what Jesus said to the seven churches in Revelation, even they were held accountable for the good or bad they did or did not do or say. My friend and I have said that the Church has a responsibility to cry out against sin no matter how politically unpopular it is. How can a Church be a light to the lost if it tries to be politically correct?? To not offend.
I really canāt tell you exactly what a mentor you have been to me on here with your wisdom on what I actually needed to hear rather than what I wanted to hear always. I was so intimidated at first but soon learned to relax and enjoy the fellowship. We donāt always know exactly how our words will affect someone but God does and so uses us to our surprise to be a blessing, encourager or even a light on whatever is needed to prune away the dead parts to bring forth even better things as you mentioned. I really needed to hear this and so much appreciated it. Love and blessings. Lurker, I totally agree, God has to have a sense of humor to put up with us. š A merry heart really does do good like a medicine. And honestly I can read some of your posts and feel better. There are others on here that lift our spirit and teach us things, I never thought about like Penned and many others on here. Love and blessings.
Hi to you Kev, I too have to look at myself as well because as I said I have not been the perfect poster either and let my emotions take over as well. You have a kind spirit and that is so important for a Christian to have. We can disagree but still have that love for the brethren that John talks. Well anyway, thatās my feelings. I donāt believe exactly like my best friends. Itās just a spiritual matter that God keeps working on me. Blessings,Kev. God used you all as an encouragement and may I do the same as well.
Hi Dr. Tim, thanks for the encouraging words and kindness shown to me on here. The fun things said that make us laugh and seious thoughts as well. No matter what I still get in trouble with friends here because they are razor back fans in Arkansas and Long Horns in Texas. I live in Texarkana on the Texas side have family on Arkansas side and a heart for the Crimson Tide guys . Now that can make a person more nervous than a cat in a roomful of rocking chairs! Have a blessed day.
John Uk, I so appreciate your comments and have been encouraged many times by them even when it may have been pricked, which is another way God can teach us important lessons that we just need to learn. Feel free to help me as you feel led.Love and blessings to you dear brother.
