Why are the Christians starting their own denomination and not the other way around?

It makes no sense that you’d gamble with the lives of dozens of vulnerable and helpless people in order to chance shooting the murderer in the shoulder. His life was already forfeit. The penalty for his actions, according to God, is execution by the government. It’s not like he was tied up and then they shot him dead. Your criticisms of this hero are extremely bizarre.

John,
You say, "Marty, your professed Christianity is nothing like that of the New Testament." Defending the helpless and vulnerable with some kind of arms (guns or swords or otherwise) is not an inherently American trait, it's a trait God gave to men.

"Methinks you want to save your life, because you love it too much. Okay, save your life, lose your soul, says my biblical Jesus. What does your "Jesus" say?
I am helping you out, Marty, but you do not see it yet."

You're not reading what I write, period. We have governments, to protect people and punish the wicked (that's from the Bible), instituted by God. The Bible tells us there is no bloodguilt in certain break-in instances, no condemnation. The Bible tells us to protect others from death. Jesus told his disciples to buy swords, obviously for self defense and defense of others, not for picking their bellybuttons with.

What you're preaching isn't righteousness, it's moralism and false piety. Everyone here is responding to you, not just me. I could be wrong (along with all these other believers), or maybe you're the one who's wrong. You're adding to the commandments of God.

Don’t you read Psalm 10 and mourn for the helpless? Why do you wink at evil and allow the weak and helpless to suffer? God forbid you ever watch any sheep, the wolves would have a buffet! God forbid you are ever tasked with protecting the weak and vulnerable, it’d be a bloodbath.

John,

I’m not sure what you’re so concerned with the NT for since Jesus and the Apostles built everything upon the Law and the Prophets. The New Covenant is simply God’s law written on hearts of flesh and not stone. What else are you looking for? The two greatest commandments are in the OT.

Revelation 11
3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner. 6 These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.

These two witnesses cause much death, right? Even if it’s symbolic, which it is, it doesn’t paint the judgment of the wicked in an evil light.

Your solution is awful. You accuse me of killing for gain; I don’t believe in that. I believe in protecting life against wicked men.

Don’t you read Psalm 10 and mourn for the helpless? Why do you wink at evil and allow the weak and helple

Galatians 6:10

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

I was being facetious. I won’t go to any book of the Bible for anecdotal evidence, like the book of Acts, when I can go to clear dictates, anywhere in the Bible. Paul used a passage about feeding oxen to lay out a precept about providing for our pastors, so I can go to the OT to get rules about defending others and self defense.

Proverbs 24:11

Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.

Or

Exodus 22:2-3

If a thief is found breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguilt for him, but if the sun has risen on him, there shall be bloodguilt for him. He shall surely pay. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

So, killing an evildoer is not always punishable by God plus we are charged to protect others from death. That church was likely full of believers and unbelievers alike. That killer forfeited his life when he decided to enter the church to kill. The wise congregant with the gun protected others from death, believers and unbelievers alike. He did well. Leaving killers alive to kill isn’t loving, its hateful to the weak and oppressed. The killer was also prevent from increasing his sins and increasing his condemnation on Judgment Day. It was the best possible outcom

Paul probably wouldn’t of eaten at Demas’s restaurant since Demas was a backstabber. Alexander the coppersmith, Demas, and the “good Christians” who run Chick Fil-A. Thanks for gladly taking the help of millions of Christians Chick Fil-A, and backstabbing them later with unrepentant wicked “charity.”

UPS,

Frankly, it’s hard to straddle between being a “Christian” company and appeasing culture. It’s hard to find a charity that isn’t either strongly Christian or otherwise antithetical to Christ. If they want to straddle the middle, perhaps they should just create their own charity. I think their better off serving chicken Corem Deo, like their founder.

UPS, I hope when Christians confront you about being a hypocrite that you don’t blow them off and actually repent. Personally, I probably have bad associations but I don’t donate money to causes that persecute Christians like the SPLC. I don’t care what they did, I care what they will do once fronted:

UPS- most other restaurants didn’t betray the Christians that kept them humming along with remarkable profits. When I eat at a pagans restaurant, he’s not pretending to be something he’s not.

“Jesus was not a Calvinist or a capitalist. He disdained worldly possessions”

What does disdaining worldly possessions have to do with being anti Capitalist or anti Calvinist? Marxists and Arminians also can be materialistic. Stupid quote.

In fact, Jesus didn’t disdain the world he created. He’s not a Buddhist. He doesn’t hate the beautiful spices, plants, metals, and animals he made.

But he didn’t incarnate to build up worldly wealth. His goal was something altogether different. Right now, at this moment, all worldly wealth and worldly power belong to him.

Jim, you’re a bad reader and fail to take correction. As you’ve been told before, Christ’s Kingsom is not of this world, but “of” isn’t “for”. Very obviously, His kingdom is for this world.
