A better title would be: "Study: Biblical prayer helps calm anger", since the study deals with praying specifically for your enemies. The Pharisees prayed long prayers for show and were angry men who hated Jesus. Matthew 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. Matthew 23:14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; The study is right, praying for your enemies is right and healthy! |

John UK wrote: Excellent post, Mrs Dawson! A friend and I often sing this song while out driving, and it proves to be very edifying, being the exact words of the King James Bible, therefore God's infallible words. It assists in memorisation, unlike the psalter, which re-translates or paraphrases. This song was one of many which apppeared in "scripture in song" booklets many decades ago, and the tunes were simple to remember, easy to sing, and unworldly. Wonderful for teaching the children especially, and this particular one reminds me that if I "seek first the kingdom of God", I will not have to concern myself about needs, because "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want." A wonderful lesson we constantly need to learn. Thank you for the excellent testimony! God bless! |

I was on Youtube and found these lovely clips of a woman singing The Scriptures. In the first video, she is singing in the woods. As you keep listening, you will hear that a bird starts to sing as she is singing. Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 1 Corinthians 14:15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. Singing God's Word with your understanding: This, I believe is Holy, when done with a pure heart. |

Former Rocker wrote: Iv'e observed your comments for years now, and have concluded that you really don't want answers, but just want to point out problems you find with other peoples posts. So, this is not so much an answer to you (because I don't believe you really want an answer), but others reading your comment may wonder about what you brought up. 1. David, although he commited murder, and adultry, did not believe it to be a desirable lifestyle, as do the rappers in their Gangster rap. 2. By what means do your rock musicians conclude Satan inspired their sounds? Did he join the band and tell them? By the admission of rockers, including the musicians I worked with, conciously, deliberatly, asked Satan to give them music and success. And yes satan (actually demonic spirits) did join the bands, and ran, through the spiritual atmosphere, the clubs we played in. As I write this, the more I realize how foolish your questions really are. Led Zeppelin, I am sure is one of them! |

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7 King James VersionEach one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7 New American Standard Bible And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand. Crenda wrote: Jessica are you implying that because we disagree with your reading of this boys "religious" experience that we are ignorant brute beasts, who despise authority in society? To answer you question, no, I do not know whether this is an experience that was given by God. But, I do believe that speaking against what a person cannot explain, has led to blasphemy in Jesus' day. Genesis 46:2 And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I. Numbers 12:6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. Jeremiah 14:14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of There are true and false visions, God's Word teaches this. Luke 24:23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. Acts 26:19 Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: |

Mike wrote: I wonder what Mr. Dollar would do if his congregation got real literal, and decided to tithe to some storehouse, rather than to his "church"? Excellent point!Exodus 18:21 Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. Psalm 119:36 Incline my heart to Your testimonies, And not to covetousness. Jeremiah 6:13 “Because from the least of them even to the greatest of them, Everyone is given to covetousness; And from the prophet even to the priest, Everyone deals falsely. Mark 7:21-23 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.” Luke 12:15 And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” |

contending wrote: The text just quoted refers to the apostolic persecutions by the Roman Emperors. Peter's remove proceeded John's, but both suffered under them. It has always been the case that it is the civil sword that has the power of it. The false church instigates against the true church of Jesus Christ and the civil sword carries out the judgment against the saints, this can be observed historically. We should not meddle in other men's affairs, very true. But Jude says: 2Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied. 3Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. When Peter said: “But Lord, what about this man?”, he was concerning himself with a brother in the Lord.Jesus, indicated that it was His decision what would happen to the other man, and that Peter should be concerning himself in following Jesus. |

John 21:18-22 Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.” This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me.” Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?” Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.” After The Lord had explained to Peter what was expected of him: And, signified the type of death Peter would die, Peter had questions about others. Such as: “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?” and “But Lord, what about this man?”. It seems, The Lord told him it wasn't something for Peter to concern himself with. Part of Jesus' reply to Peter was: "You follow Me". May we not overly concern ourselves with others, but follow Jesus. |
