Yes, there are many testimonies from various different backgrounds, but God can still use them to save. I became a believer because I believed in Jesus, and that was all I knew, the name Jesus. Another friend became a believer because she liked a Christian boy. Under normal circumstances those testimonies would fail, but God did not let them fail.
It's like these churches are lacking wisdom. Sometimes spiritually the safest place to be is in the danger zone. And the safest place to be often offers more spiritual danger, from apathy, lack of courage, no strong men, no sacrifice. I believe america had a real strong christian presence during the first 2 world wars. It was during the time of peace, that a generation of believers lost all discernment.
....They will often simply preach their own denomination’s viewpoint without giving a fair and objective perspective. What happens? The believers simply mold to that denomination and do not think for themselves. Another problem is that some missionaries minister to meet their own needs. That is, a missionary comes to build his own church. He gathers believers who revolve around him rather than helping believers give themselves to the Chinese church. As a result, when he leaves, many believers go astray and are dejected. Or, they become an isolated church disconnected from other bodies of believers.
An interview from a local pastor on foreigners: Do you know how foreigners could really help the Chinese church? People need standardized theological training. I want to see foreigners publish deeper, theological literature that goes beyond topics like leadership, prayer, marriage, and family. Additionally, Chinese people need to develop the ability to think critically, instead of accepting wholesale everything their denomination says and opposing the different views of other denominations. They need the humility to realize that not all of their denominations‚Äô views may be correct. ‚ÄúDifferent‚ÄĚ does not automatically mean wrong. I want to see them listen to each other with humble and open atti- tudes, even being willing to cooperate and serve together. Foreigners can help equip Chinese churches to go out and spread the Gospel to other countries and peoples. Some missionaries who come to China are not well equipped for the work. Perhaps, they are just average churchgoers who were driven by love and dedication to share the gospel in China. That love is, of course, valuable, but because they lack formal training, they are limited in language, theology, and various other aspects related to their mission. They will often simply preach their own denomination‚Äôs viewpoint without giving
What's interesting from these articles is the clear separation the youth experience from the parents. Public schools clearly divide them from their parents, and make the teachers responsible for them. But then we all know, the parents themselves don't have time for them, and without the schools babysitting them, most of them will become hooligans who would graffiti the walls, and vandalize property, all because they have too much time and nowhere to go. So sitting and playing online video games is actually more beneficial than being a drug addicted hooligan.
And nobody knows what these house churches believe, ChinaAid wants you to think that these are somehow "conservative, and Protestant minded theology worshipers", but it's not always the truth. Infact their theology often is evil, ChinaAid wants to train your brain, that every time you hear "house church" they are Christian. I meet more believers, real sacrificial believers from the 3 self church than from any house church.
Article says: "In the past two months, the government banned all Catholic churches and (Protestant) house churches, and that didn't happen to any other religions"
I just visited a catholic seminary and met the students there, and I often visit the Bible school in my area. There are hundreds of churches in one city, with thousands of people attending. I hate ChinaAid, their worldview is not biblical, they never provide any proof, they could go and interview the pastors and the locals about this, but they never do. In my opinion their end goal is to usher in a Liberal Democracy in china, it's a political group that uses ignorant Christians and their support money. Go read the article and clearly it's a propaganda piece!
I read a book recently called "without you, there is no us, by suki Kim." And was saddened by this secular account, and perspective because it had more truth than your "Jesus Freaks" book. Like expected, the missionary groups have zero accountability on what the people they send out believe. I just hope the locals don't rot in prison because of the false charismatic Christianity that the west introduces.
This is important and historic. Hope it leads to better things. But let's not forget, if NK opens up to religion, it also opens up to cults and false teachings, which overwhelm south Korea and the western world. But those are still better than the cult inside NK today.
Then the disciples came and said to him, "Why do you speak to them in parables?" And he answered them, "To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. Matthew 13:10‭-‬13 ESV http://bible.com/59/mat.13.10-13.ESV
American Christians must learn to accept they are the minority now. Good news in my opinion is there is no world wars, or army drafts like when christianity was the majority. I prefer the modern status quo versus the previous one. Though I do miss old style fellowships, but I think it came with great sacrifice.
surprisingly we are having a mature conversation. It is great to have a forum to discuss such things, a moderated one at least. At the end of the day we are called to be effective preachers, America is not a church, we share the stage with so many others, but the point is, we should instead stand out like lights in this perverse generation
I think Ned Flanders is a parody of Christianity from the TV show "The Simpsons". It's something the world uses to put down christians, like the word Bible Thumper, When I became a christian, I struggled because I will now have to be associated with Ned Flanders, a character everyone laugh at. But thankfully, unbelievers are wrong on their representation of believers.
I'm sick and tired of some (not all) western missionaries and Christians, who feel they are entitled to preach. You have to earn the right to preach, and that is what his prayers are, preaching.  Did he volunteer out of the goodness of his heart to be a light to unbelievers, or did he do it because he wanted to preach? On the contract he signed, did he write "I volunteered only "to turn people to Christianity". His own words! When he signed the contract, he was not honest. Swindler.  Disqualified.
Clearly, he did not earn the respect of the unbelievers. Where is the testimony of him caring from the unbelieving parents? Where is it? It's not there. And what's more, this the second time is happened. A bad testimony, Disqualified.
Shameful. Earn the right to preach. If you can't do it with words, then preach by your life.
