pennned wrote: I would prefer to see a world where a young man inherits some land to work and can marry a young lady, and when she is college age, they can have a family instead of college debt. that's what these young people need, especially they need Christ, and they need to be around children. Young women should be holding babies and learning the ways of bringing in the next generation, forcibly divorced from family life, they begin to hate what they were created to be. Perhaps "forcibly divorced from family life" means the typical college experience of moving away from the parents and living in a college dormitory. Such an environment definitely isn't conducive to influencing women to become wives and mothers; rather, the sin of fornication is promoted and encouraged. College is a VERY dangerous place for all, especially women, as the weaker vessel. |

Louise wrote: It's time for bible believing preachers to tell their people to dump their TV's. If they want to keep them, disconnect from cable and network tv and just use it to play movies. There is NOTHING that a person will miss by doing this. Any worthwhile programming or real news (not scripted propaganda) can be found on the internet. Time to disconnect from this weapon of satan and get this accursed object out of our homes I cannot disagree with this at all. I've been TV-less for five years and have largely replaced it with more Bible reading and listening to preaching here on SA. God has blessed me and grown me as a result, even as He continues to work in me. |

Christopher000 wrote: Our understanding of the life and roles of nuns are mostly limited to what we know and see in the US, but it's a much different story abroad. There are many different orders and functions and one of many comes to mind. I can't remember where or what their name is right now, but they are an order sworn to silence. They never speak, they sleep in small, dingy "cells" on a sheet of plywood laid across two sawhorses. their breakfast consists of a piece of bread and a cup of water while sitting at a wooden table that has a skull in the middle of it to remind them of death. I could go on, but it is basically a life of lonely misery as they sacrifice themselves for the church of Rome. What a life. Very good and insightful comment. |

"...it is a shame for women to speak in the church" (I Cor. 14:35)."But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence" (I Tim. 2:12). Mrs. Osteen should have no platform to be speaking in church, much less be a "co-pastor." Biblically, there is no such thing. A lot of false teaching could be avoided if women simply stayed quiet. |

Great Sermon! It is characteristic of Satan to get us consumed with fulfilling our desires in the here and now, no matter what the cost, with no thought for the Lord's glory and sin's consequences. This sermon reminded me of two Proverbs: "Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel" (21:17) and "An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed" (21:21). It's the afterwards and the end about which Satan always wants us to forget. |

pennned wrote: traditional Hebrew society. boy would apprentice in a trade, build up a home, grow up and become independent, and then find a young lady that he could have a life with. today, boys and girls same age, no trade but lots of talk about what one "dreams" to do, girls are told to go out and get jobs, kicked out of the house at 18, or accrue lots of debt at college that's often unpayable and party, or join the military out of desperation... and the boys are not finding stable work, aren't able to make a home, and waste their years of youth which could be years of preparation. the whole process is askew and conformed to atheist society. open the land for the youth and let them sell and trade their products from their land, especially raw milk and diverse seed so they have work, instead of partying because this system has no hope in it so they just waste their time and drink and see no tomorrow. the gospel of Christ and the bible which really does have answers to these problems! Excellent comment. |

William S. Sutherland wrote: Every time I hear someone compare being a sodomite to being black, I am infuriated and I wonder where are all the blacks who should be infuriated, too. I can be counted as such a one. Indeed, there is nothing sinful, inherently or otherwise, about the color of one's skin. I will never be convinced that sodomy is not a choice; it is, and from what I've heard people say, it is difficult to resist that temptation. But salvation from it is possible (I Corinthians. 6:9-11). |
