There is a saying that If you throw a stone at a group of sleeping dogs and the one that yelps is the one that was hit. Looks like with all the billboards going up, itās pretty obvious who is hit hard by the celebration of Christ ās birth. Tells the truth that this is a reminder to those who want to believe there is no God, to hearing all of the month of December that a savior was born and His name is Jesus. The hymns playing, Away in a manger, Silent Night, Holy Night, Frosty the āļø (Yes, thereās always something added to distract, even to billboards by atheists). As for me, I see good in this once a year celebration of the birth of Christ, especially if it makes those who have not seen and believed, to think and even believe, just maybe. May the grace of Jesus Christ be with you this day.
Reminds me of the early Christians and the persecution they suffered. They worshipped in Catacombs as well. May they, too, be strengthened as they face the ordeals of being a hated follower of Christ. God bless and keep them strong in Him.
I totally agree, John Uk, and as we get closer to Christās Return the more attacks will be done to the true Christian because he knows he has only a short time left. Keep your lamps burning Christian,we donāt have much longer. When we see all these things coming to pass, (signs of Christ return) look up for your redemption draws near..Luke 21:28
If our heart is with Christ and we belong to Him then we donāt need or have time for political talks in the pulpit. We have a guide and He will lead us to do the right thing. I follow no man only Christ and Him alone.
Sometimes we have to put feet to our prayers and looks like you just did, Tim. I remember calling one of our Senators to not vote on a bill that would allow abortion in second term pregnancy. I did feel better knowing I had done something that might make a difference.
Christopher, you were right about being some what sensitive to remarks made and I am and I do have a rejection issue God has been working with me on.I accidentally (?) stumbled upon this site and can say I needed it desperately to correct some things I had problems dealing with. And actually what me said about the dogs was actually funny to me because I do have a sense of humor, my family does as well and we have a lot of fun .getting together. Penny helped me a lot when she said keep your feet in the boat while feeling the sharks That was a.fun way of saying something that has stayed with me and has helped me and another one that helped was that I needed to have the skin of an alligator, thick and hard to penetrate. Love you guys and Happy Thanksgiving to all of my sisters and bros on SA
John Uk, I understand what you are saying. We have to have a discerning spirit about these things. For instance our pastor made the remark that if a transgender attended our church they would have to show their birth certificates before they could use the bathroom and yes Paul was very much against the Jews that tried to make the new Gentile converts be circumcised and follow the rituals that Jesus had come to change. Of course in the day we are living in we have to be very careful, wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove Good thoughts to be brought out. We need a balance in these situations. The man in drag should have left the church as Christopher brought out. I had to leave a church because of their beliefs of things that to me were unimportant and because I saw things that were important neglected. I did learn about the Holy Spirit and that changed my life.and they did love the Lord or most did.
Thanks, Lurker, I will go to that website because I enjoy nature and feeding birds and have missed that. I actually live in a neighborhood close to the mall. We have lots trees on our block and our little dog was turned out one dark night and ran into a coon in our backyard. They both were surprised and he ran off after we grabbed her. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.š¦
Christopher, itās fine and I accept your apology and when I offend just let me know because like I told JohnUk, I want to keep my friends on here and it is easy to be misunderstood. Itās more important to keep fellowship than to be right. I thought of another example and that is the parable Jesus gave of the Good Samaritan and thereās a lesson there similar to what we have been discussing. Jesus knew how hated the Samaritan was and he used him as the one that helped the wounded man that had been robbed and beaten. Sometimes we need to just stop and read what Jesus said in different situations. Anyway, Have a Happy Thanksgiving!š Old Tim, have you been taking good care of our goats?!! I had to give up feeding birds also because the squirrels kept eating the feed and sunflower seeds are so expensive now plus I donāt want to have to deal with 85 lb squirrels like yours!! š
Me, I appreciate your apology and all is forgiven š You are growing in your walk with Christ and thatās one reason we ask forgiveness from others because none of us have arrived at perfection yet .Iām sure I say things that offend and I worry about that, too. I feel better that we have Christian fellowship . Blessings and Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
Christopher, I wasnāt referring to this man who came to church in drag. I was referring to judging a person who might be a person that looks and is different than you or who would not want to associate with because that person is not worthy in their eyes. Even the disciples came back and marveled that he would be talking to her. They were passing through Samaria and would up staying 3 more days because of her witness and the people wanting to meet this man who told her all things about herself. I clearly said in my comment that if thereās open sin being committed by a church member then he should be disciplined by the members. Our pastor said no transgender would be allowed to go into a bathroom without showing their birth certificate which I agree. I no longer attend a Pentecostal Church because of so much of how you look and not who are in Christ. I knew some members personally and they were not Holy on the inside, I was hurt by different ones because I wasnāt what they wanted me to be. Same on here. I was told by one if you canāt run with the big dogs then stay on the porch. Which I didnāt and most of those have left. Strange thing they were all in agreement that I didnāt belong on here .
Interesting story if you care to read it . Found in John 4:1-42 Many were brought to Christ because of this womanās testimony and the way she was treated by Him at the well while the disciples were gone into the city to buy meat. He was tired and sat on the well . Then the woman came up to draw.
Another example I thought of last night, was the woman at the well when he asked her to draw water for Him. She was shocked he would ask her or even talk to her. One being a woman, two a Samaritan which was hated by the Jews. Did he know that people talked about her, and how even more amazing he told her everything about her life . She was interested in this living water he talked about. She then told others about this man who knew everything about her. Then told them to come with her to see him. Even the disciples came up about this time and marveled that Jesus was talking to this woman. The ones Jesus seemed to think the worst of was the self righteous and hypocrites.
I needed to know that you are a true spiritual friend , John Uk , that God has placed in my life. I realize that is a special blessing to have a friend that promises to always be there for me.I appreciate what you said and thank you for being a special brother in Christ.
Hi John Uk, pulled the video up and watched the amazing video. Never would have believed it unless I saw it. Love watching animals except on hunting shows. He only had one antler up the other one hung down.
Now wait a minute, guy from Mississippi, you arenāt being critical of his š are you because they are one of my favorites!! No kidding, they can make me laugh just looking at them looking at me. Cutest thing ever.
John Uk, glad you got my point would hate to lose another friend on here because of some misunderstanding. I learn from others and even in fun I learn to not take my self so seriously. God has got a sense of humor because see it on here a lot. When you write something itās hard to really understand what they are saying to you because you donāt hear the voice or facial expressions which are a big part of communication. Thanks for clearing it up. Appreciate your apology and will be checking out Scotlandās friendliest stag. š
One more example of what I learned in Sunday School as we are studying James. There was a homeless man that lived in a tent in some woods near our Church. Every time we had pot luck or any get together that involved food He was there to eat. He was so shabby and looked like what he was. No one shunned him and was actually friendly toward him, he even did yard work for extra money for some of the members. I donāt go to the socials or Wednesday night which is family night with meals (typical Baptist) anymore so I havenāt seen him in awhile but think about him every now and then. While studying James, I thought about him and this man that helped me out may not belong to our Church but if he did, I didnāt know him. God taught me these lessons of what God wants me to do and I passed them on to others, including my son who knows me well,āand he was actually an angel helping you ā never thought of that, I said but you know he could have been especially when we had just had a lesson on it.Have a blessed Sabbath, John Uk and be careful of the ugly purple faces you make because youāre face just might freeze (just one of the many things my mama taught meš¤)
Donāt understand what I said that provoked you to think I have turned preacher? Paul preached as he was led of God to preach. Doesnāt God through His Holy Spirit convict each of us of our sins as we hear the word preached? All he has to do is preach Christ crucified and leave the rest to God to allow the Word to touch hearts and change lives. Doesnāt the Bible tell us that Godās Word will not return unto Him void but will accomplish whatever He wants it to?? This man was at Church listening to a preacher preach the Word of God and was told to leave and not even hear what God may have wanted the man to hear to take with him to ponder on. Were you a perfect person before God saved you? How were you saved? God can use whatever means He chooses to convict and win souls. He chose my last year of Vacation Bible School at age 12 and I was convicted because I saw Him and His love for me through the lives of those that taught me and the pastor who preached to me and made me feel convicted. No one forced me to attend church ever. I was drawn to this little Church a few blocks from where I lived because of the love and light I was given there.
