GG~ may I suggest YOU read again Judith 9:10, 13. Especially verse 13, "And make my speech and deceit to be their wound and stripe, who have purposed cruel things against thy covenant, and thy hallowed house, and against the top of Sion, and against the house of the possession of thy children"~ this clearly implicates the lie that God assisted Judith in the telling of lies... As for Abraham and the others you stated as lying, did God assist or ordain it? Abraham also had multiple wives; does God ordain that? Not everything spoken of in scripture meets with God's approval, but it does provide for us lessons to draw and learn from. Your question, 'what would you do to save your family'...I pray I would trust in Christ. Rather than sin against God by lying, I pray I would trust Christ. "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters, and ALL LIARS, their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur." Rev. 21:8 |

GG~ you said Jesus didn't use these phrases, 'it is written'? Oh really? "It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" Matthew 4:4 "It is written, again, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God" Matthew 4:7 "Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only shall thou serve" Matthew 4:10 Hebrews 9:27 ,"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this, the judgment" That is pretty clear GG, there is no 'holding tank', but just a fearful expectation of the coming judgment on the lost soul. The Jews rejected the apocryphal books as erroneous and not inspired by God. Where did any prophet prophesy in any of these historical books? Nowhere in scripture are we to pray for dead people. |

GG~ there is one mediator between God and man, that is Christ and Christ alone. No sinful man can take away your sins, because he himself is a sinner. "For there is One God, and One Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus" 1 Timothy 2:5. Where does scripture teach on successors? Where is the office of the pope clearly taught, as the other offices are, such as deacon, bishop/elder, and apostle? To be an apostle, such as Peter, one had to have seen Christ with their own eyes. How is it possible to 'hand down' such an office? Peter was an apostle, and an elder, or pastor {1 Peter 5:1}. You defend a religion that sides with Muslim beliefs, one that thinks it's okay to promote 'Allah'; in your ignorance, you are heaping up God's wrath for yourself by not coming out of such a religion. Sadly, you are unable to break free from the bondage you are in unless God intervenes. |

JohnUK~ I appreciate your postings! We have caused division within the body of Christ by 'labeling' ourselves. We accredit Calvin with a teaching, and by doing so, bring upon ourselves divisive, argumentative quarrels. I do not find such labels anywhere in the scriptures. The whole problem lies in taking what the scriptures teach and giving credit for the teaching to mortal men. I prefer to stick with the 'labels' found in scripture...'maidservant', 'new creation in Christ', 'co-heir', 'disciple', etc... I enjoy Spurgeon, Ryle, Edwards, and McCheyne; as well as MacArthur, Washer, and Leiter. I am ever mindful of the word 'unity', and know it isn't my place to decide who's 'in' or 'out'. I do know Christ saved me, by God's grace I am His. However, I would never tell a lost sinner God will save him if He chooses to; instead, they must hear this, 'repent, and believe in the Gospel'. God bless you! |

GG~ These books existed before the N.T., yet, there is not one single quotation from them. Jesus quoted from 24 of the O.T. books, and the N.T. quotes from 34 books of the O.T. Introductory phrases like 'it is written' and 'thus saith the Lord' are absent, thus nullifying any claim to be inspired by God. They are historical, and erroneous. 1 and 2 Maccabees has Antiochus Epiphanes dying 3 different deaths in as many places. No single ancient manuscript contains all of the apoc. books. These books are rejected by the Jews because of doctrinal errors; prayers for the dead {2 Macc. 12:45-46}, and salvation by works {Tobit 12:9}. Hebrews 9:27 nullifies praying for the dead. Ephesians 2:8.9 clearly states salvation is by grace alone. Some teachings are immoral, for example, in Judith 9:10,13, it says that God assisted Judith in the telling of lies. 2 Macc. 12:43-45 includes the statement "2,000 pieces of silver were sent to Jerusalem for a sin offering, whereupon he made reconciliation for the dead, that they might be delivered from sin"...thus, the birth of the false teaching by the RCC of 'purgatory'. Again, read Hebrews 9:27 |

Rogerant, I refuse to involve myself in the merry go round of c. vs. a. for the simple fact that God didn't call me to argue with 'professing' Christians, but to proclaim the Gospel. As for water baptism, I tried that in the eighth grade at my old Lutheran Church. Needless to say, I went on to live a most immoral and godless life. It wasn't until He intervened, in His timing, and broke my proud heart that I was truly saved. Too many believe they are going to heaven because they were simply 'baptized' as an infant or child. If one does belong to Christ, it will be manifested in His timing. True salvation is evidenced by a regenerated heart, a changed life; not one of sinless perfection, but one that isn't marked by continual habitual sin. I have since been baptized again, but the baptism of the Holy Spirit is how I know God has truly saved me. Paul Washer's 'the Ten Indictments' is highly recommended to all who profess Christ. |

GG~ I think DJC49's post brings to light a very interesting and vital point, the Catholic [nab] bible's translation of Luke 1:28, "and coming to her, he said, "hail, favored one, the Lord is with you" Let's compare that with the KJV, "And the Angel came in unto her and said, "Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women". Now, upon comparison, who is 'trashing' God's word? Who is adding to and taking away from the sacred scriptures? "Add thou not unto His words, lest He reprove thee, and thou be found a liar" Proverbs 30:6 "Ye shall NOT add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you" Deuteronomy 4:2 |

GG~ let's examine Luke 1:28 in the original language..."HAIL {Gr.-chairo, to rejoice, be glad} THOU THAT ART HIGHLY FAVOURED{ phrase-Gr.-charitoo, to peruse with grace, compass with favor, honor with blessings, make accepted} THE LORD {phrase -Gr. kyrios, this title is given to: God, the Messiah}IS WITH {phrase-Gr.-meta, with, after, behind} THEE {Gr. -sou, thy, thee} BLESSED {Gr.-eulogeo, favoured of God, blessed}ART THOU {Gr.-sy, you}AMONG {Gr.-en, in,by, with etc.} WOMEN {Gr.-gyne, a woman of any age, whether a virgin, or married, or a widow}. It becomes evident, in the original Greek, God chose Mary for His purpose and plan. This has always been and will continue to be His way of saving His people and using them for His glory. In this verse the Angel tells Mary she should rejoice and be glad, for God has looked upon her with favor...this could be said of all whom He looks upon with favor. |

GG~ you are in error, the phrase 'highly favored' is translated in the Greek-'charitoo', meaning, to make graceful, make accepted. The root word of charitoo is 'charis', meaning, 'goodwill, lovingkindness, favour; of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting His holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ'. Charis is from the root 'chairo', meaning 'to rejoice, be glad'. The phrase 'highly favored' is in the perfect passive participle tense, meaning 'something have happened'. Nowhere in the translating of that phrase is kecharitomene found. I am sure the tradition of the RCC of notoriously 'adding to' God's word explains your 'version' of this phrase, but it just isn't there in the original text. Mary was chosen by God, as all who are saved are, and shown favor by the Most High God. He alone receives all glory and honor for saving lost souls, all of which are to worship Him, NOT other saved souls who have gone on to glory. |

GG~'Jesus didn't come to write bibles, He came to set up the church'...fyi...Jesus IS the bible!! "In the beginning was the Word { Greek-logos;Divine expression, something said, preaching}, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" John 1:1. What does He build His church on? The foundation of the Gospel, first laid by Christ, then preached by the Apostles, and written for all generations in His word. The whole core of the Gospel is Christ, His death and resurrection, and why it had to be. Your man-made tradition is nothing more than a list of do's and don'ts. Where in Luke 1:28 do you get the greek word kecharitomene, it translates from what word in that verse? |

GG~again, your lack of understanding shines through. The early Christians came to Christ through the teachings of the Apostles, who, in turn, were taught by Christ [the Chief Cornerstone]. God inspired the writers of the Bible to write His truth so as to preserve His word down through the generations. The time span of the writings is well over 1500 years; since the apostles and all eyewitnesses of Christ are dead, it's no longer possible to receive the oracles of God through them: the Bible is the guide for knowing Christ, the will of God, exposing sin, teaching, training, and transforming. Your comment about the writings of Timothy and there being no 'new testament' makes no sense. Again, the RCC patting a false religion on the back is indeed evidence of their apostasy, you do not understand. When you condone a religion that worships a false god, you are guilty of breaking this commandment, "You shall have NO OTHER GODS before Me". You aren't to 'yoke' yourselves with anything false, and yes, that includes congratulatory comments. The RCC thinks it's okay to introduce 'Allah' to Europe? If that's what the headline said, and it should have read that way, then maybe a 'light' would have went off. |

GG~Where in Luke 1:28 do you get the greek word kecharitomene, what word translates? From one side of your mouth, you claim the bible, yet your ignorance of it is spilled out in your postings~'nowhere in scripture does scripture claim to be the entire library of the faithful' Micheal has given the passage that refutes your statement, and this isn't the first time you've heard that verse. Yet, you conveniently overlook it every time. You go against the command given by Christ "If ye love me, keep my commandments" John 14:15 {this does not mean only the ones you pick either} You cannot side with other 'faiths' that believe contrary to what the bible teaches, such as Muslim {their bible is the Koran, which your unholy papa is seen kissing! Check out Max's post}. "For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?" 2 Corinthians 6:14 Of course the RCC is darkness, that is why she lines up with the enemies of God! You have been given the gospel, according to the scriptures {which you claim you follow}, yet you stayed rooted in a church that is apostate...why? Because God has not done a transforming work in your heart. |

Lance~how much more corrupt can you get than filling a child's mind with the corrupt teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, a church that worships an idolatrous Mary, that sides with the Muslim apostate faith, and that places some old man in an exalted position of authority and calls him 'holy father'! Yet, Christ commands us in Matthew 23:9 NOT to refer to anyone here as 'father'{in the spiritual sense}. You even deny the authority of the very word of God, saying indirectly 'it isn't sufficient in of itself'. You defend an apostate religion, even when you and GG have been given repeated proof of its apostasy, the latest example being the embracing of Satan's 'Muslim' beliefs. You do not know the God if the bible, your heart is deadened to the things of God, your mind is filled with man's 'doctrine'. You and the RCC are the modern day Pharisees. You will die and step into outer darkness, awaiting God's judgment, not His blessings. Sadly, your heart is hardened to truth; the followers of the RCC see this as a 'battle' between the RCC and the Prots. You are dead wrong, it is a battle between God's truth, nothing added or taken from; and man's version of truth, with much added. |
