Dr. Tim wrote: Good point, Watcher. Any suggestions on dealing with what the Bible describes as a "vile person" (Psalm 25:4)? Love him, as he is just as vile as yourself. We are all vile. Just some of us have been forgiven. Ps. 25.4 doesn't say anything about being vile though. |

penned wrote: Watcher, what you see there is a contrast between the suffering Christian and those who have their ears tickled by the state. I believe the underground church of China would know exactly what I am talking about and we would have sweet fellowship. Very true. We have much to be ashamed of here in the west. Persecution is coming, and I doubt any one of us will be ready for it. |

penned wrote: somewhere in a gated community in China is a woman who goes to a state church every week and hears of the blessings of her privileged society. meanwhile down the road... Title: Report: Chinese 'training' camps now use 'forced medication' http://www.wnd.com/2018/05/report-chinese-training-camps-now-use-forced-medication/ "Chinese “training camps” to which the government sends people with beliefs not tolerated by the communist regime are using “forced medication” on inmates, both Christian and Muslim, reveals a new report in Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin." We all need to live our lives as a constant and daily testimony to Christ. I am guilty of being sarcastic and foolish, and I have personally repented of it. I think if Christians from other countries looked at the content of our conversations here, they would be embarrassed, confused and upset. My opinion anyway. Take it or leave it. |

John Yurich USA wrote: I am not a fraud. If I was not really saved I would never have started to attend a Baptist Church faithfully every Sunday because I stated previously I would never attend any Evangelical Protestant Church. I am growing spiritually at my Baptist Church. Okay John...not a problem. Just remember, God sees your heart and will judge you accordingly. |

The Quiet Christian wrote: Thank you, SA, for this article & all the work you all do. This article reminds me of Psalm 33. If we aren't saying "thank you" to each other, how often then are we thanking the Lord? "Imagine waking up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday? Be thankful....it could be worse." |

Unprofitable Servant wrote: Doc, I saw you were looking for commonality, let us try and find some. Sorry, guys but when Peter was asked what to do and the Philippian jailer asked how to be saved, neither were told if you are foreordained to eternal life then it will just happen, so Doc, throwing that part out of my post... Wouldn't that be fruitful to live or lives expecting election to take its course and not lift a finger to spread the Gospel? Of course, as God sees fit, He saves, but we are also commanded to preach the Good News to all the nations. When men come to God in salvation, faith and repentance, it is only through the power of the Holy Spirit as US just said. God draws men unto Himself. Man will never go to God as everything about God disgusts sinful man. Man has to be remade to desire God before he repents and believes. |

Dr. Tim wrote: Since no one has set forth a PRACTICAL difference (not a theological or definitional difference, but a practical difference) , I revert to my original question: Wouldn't we serve our Lord better by putting up more billboards? Please note that my hypothetical billboard didn't set forth any "denoninational" (for lack of a better word) theory of salvation, but the Word of God only. If there is rejoicing in heaven over Henry's salvation, should we rejoice any less on earth just because it wasn't our particular group that erected the billboard in the first place? Interesting thought process. Yes, more billboards are important as long as they speak scripture and not a seeker-friendly version of the Gospel. If the billboards are using sales gimmicks, then all they will accomplish is a bunch of false converts, deceived into a false sense of security. If they preach the Gospel according to scripture, then we will have a proper harvest...in God's time. |

John UK wrote: Connor, I have applied some logic to understand how our convo is going. There's nothing special about logic, it's simply a matter of looking at certain facts and reaching a conclusion. Okay, so it's quicker to say "applying logic" rather than "looking at certain facts and reaching a conclusion". Anyway, by logic, I have concluded that whenever I respond to your posts (out of courtesy and Christian etiquette), you never reply to any of the points I make; rather you just carry on and come out with some more points, and therefore it will be a waste of time me typing anything out, being ignored and all, while you all the meanwhile hope to convince me of something you've been taught in university not the local church. So by logic, it makes sense not to bother...Ah, but modern neo-Calvinists don't bother much with the Spirit; they have the wherewithal to win men to Christ and truth by skillful argument, learned at a secular college. Logically. Here we go with Calvin again. Using logic, can we say (as we are told in scripture), seeing as God is the Potter and we are the pottery, that He has supreme control over how we are made and what happens to us? A simple yes or no will suffice. |

Tennessee wise wrote: Why are they scared of GOD? Like evolution you have to pass laws to reinforce these ungodly beliefs. If left alone people would certainly see the power of GOD. It's always funny to me how atheists and this ilk talk about God more than Christians do! What are they so angry and afraid of if they don't even believe in Him? Interesting. |

Dr. Tim wrote: What practical difference does it make? Either way, Henry is going to heaven and Ulysses is going to hell, right? And rather than endlessly debating over the reason Henry got saved,.. You are right in the fact that in the end, Henry goes to heaven and Ulysses doesn't. The point is this: One way (the way Connor, LBug and myself believe) proclaims God as sovereign, able to save and have His way with His property. Remember in Romans 9 and Isa 45 where God is called the Potter and we are His pottery? This way brings God the glory He deserves. This way, God is sovereign, supreme and in control. Your way gives man some power. Your way gives man the right to say yes or no. Your way gives man the freedom to say, "Not yet, I'm busy". Your way gives sinful man a way out. The biblical way says, when the time (predetermined since the foundations were laid)comes, the Holy Spirit visits the sinner and works the work of salvation in his heart, and compels the man to believe and then repent. Your way says, when the Holy Spirit comes to the door with a sales pitch (ala J.W.'s) you have the freedom to listen and then make a decision one way or the other. Hope you can see the difference. Hope you're doing well this morning. |
