Thinking the same thoughts as how the Clintons have millions, I forget how much Bill makes on his speeches. Nothing said about that. And he blasts the media yet criticizing even this some do. Go figure.
Dr. Tim, there is a fourth reason; You want all that God has for you and when itâs revealed you will give your all to receive. When you know something that has happened to you personally and others ridicule, say itâs evil or for pride and if you say nothing , then youâre saying that you agree.
John, interesting and I have read The Pilgrimâs Progress but havenât finished it yet but now I will after your praise of it. So funny how God does something wonderful in your life and somebody who canât or donât want to believe it will explain it away. I try not to get involved in controversial things like this because it really doesnât help anything. Interesting because I had the experience not them. Like God telling you to serve Him for as long as you were a sinner instead of dying. He had a work for you to do and I see what you are saying. I, too, have wanted to go be with Him now and hear Him saying, not now you still have things to do. And that gives me peace.Canât wait to read rest of Pilgrim Progress. I have 2, one being older version and one which is newer being edited slightly. Which one is yours. Thanks for encouraging testimony.
John Uk, I really liked this word from A.W. Pink , I too have been encouraged by a word spoken by someone that may be even on this forum . God uses those that allow Him to use. My mother was a deep Christian that was raised Methodist in the years when they were very spiritual. She wore makeup and cut her hair but never wore pants. Actually her life was what inspired me to know Christ. She suffered abuse and physical pain but loved God. So thatâs why I couldnât agree with a belief that was so difficult for me to believe. If my mother didnât make it to heaven then some of these Holiness people including my in-laws didnât have a chance.
Cont. back to the denomination I was saved in and am still there. Itâs not a perfect church by all means but then neither am I. The pastor is preaching harder on sin and thatâs needed in the hour we are living in and as the days grow darker when we can no longer work.
Cont Well Jim, where you have one interpretation by one preacher, who took it out of context, I can give you other great preachers that have experienced the phenomenon of this experience. A.W. Tozer and his book Alive in the Spirit, Andrew Murray,Experiencing the Holy Spirit, his book I am now reading.. D.l Moody, Jonathan Edwards and others that I have read about. Explain more about this working of the Holy Spirit. I learned from husband âs family about the Holy Spirit. Never heard one sermon about the Holy Spirit and did argue with them until one night by my bed alone after attending one of their services, I wanted what I saw in them. My husband was frog hogging with his father. So, what happened there by my bed changed my life forever. Didnât speak in tongues or anything like that, still on my knees by the bed, when my husband came in my room at 12: oâclock which I found hard to believe as I knelt down at around 8:30pm. An awesome experience I wonât go into that you wouldnât believe or even understand. I have been led to tell some that did go on to receive and they were already saved so it was something different than that. I understand exactly what Paul was saying to them even though I donât understand all of it. God absolutely moved me out of this particular denominat
, Paul is teaching on gifts of the Spirit in I Corinthians 14 because of confusion of speaking in tongues that could not be understood by anyone vs prophesy as a gift is better to have in church service that could bring an unbeliever to Christ. vs12 Even so ye, for as much as you are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.vs13 Wherefore let him that speakerphone in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.vs 14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful..vs15 what is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also;I will sing with the the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.vs 16 Else when thou bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupied the room of the unlearned say amen at giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? vs17 For thou verily give the thanks well, but the other is not edified. vs 18 I thank my God, I speak in tongues more than ye all: yet in church I had rather speak five words with my understanding that by my voice I might teach others also...vs19
Interesting Christopher, even if they arenât listening others around the globe are. Thatâs why they have itching ears and seek out the teachers that will say things that keep them from Godâs truths. We are living in the last days and how exciting to watch these things unfold.
Kudos to the wife of our Vice President. I had a cousin that was gay and this was back when life was a lot simpler and we as teenagers knew right from wrong. The way I saw her was not that she was inferior but that she was odd and what she was doing was wrong. Simple as that. Her sister had a baby out of wedlock and it had cerebral palsy. She saw me as a Christian and since I had a normal baby in wedlock she saw her sins as punishment by God. I loved both of them and saw my own imperfections and thought how can she see me as being loved by God to give me a healthy baby? A Christian is a light to a sin darkened world in spite of their imperfections . So the dark world canât stand to have their sins being revealed to themselves and others so they try to put the light out by threatening and punishing them but actually itâs God they are shutting their ears to.Her Light shines bright as she stands on the truths of God.
I have noticed some Christians, in a good way, without malice, saying,âGod showed up and showed out.â Or the Man Upstairs in praise of something God had done for them. And like sc said, that we shouldnât use the word gay.. It is taken out of context the real meaning of gay. Just some thoughts that I have.about being reverent when using Godâs name. He has many names with different meanings , for instance, Jehovah, our Provider.
Sc, you are so right in that its the people the country as a whole thatâs causing all the rampant sins as the Israel people did in the days of the reign of Ahab and his wife Jezabel. Judgement was brought on the nation through the capture and bondage by the Babylonians. The sin that finally brought Judgement was when they sacrificed their children at the altar of Baal. God heard the cries of the Children even if they did not. Abortion was legalized when America began dramatically turning away from God and itâs biblical foundations, in the mid-and late twentieth century, that it also embraced the killing of its unborn children. And we know the rest of the story and it ainât pretty. Blessings sc and Christopher, thanks for sharing your thoughts as well.
As a wife and mother of three sons,,I have enjoyed my role as both.I was a stay at home mom and loved being able to do so. I love the fact and embrace being a woman.I have a strong husband who has worked hard to support his family. He is not perfect but so do I. I love that he is strong and protective of me and gladly give him the job of leadership of our home. I have watched our sons to grow up and become the same as their father hard working and great husbands and fathers .God has given me the role that only a woman can fulfill because she is different than a man. Each has their part to be and do as His will for them.
Just a word in support of JohnUk as some have given their words of rebuke against him, I give my words of support for him. He doesnât agree with me on things I believe at times not me on his however we both see each other as blood washed sister and brother in the body of Christ each given special gifts from God to be used for the kingdom of God. You have yours, I have mine. I give account for how I lived my life, you give account for yours. Actually I have enjoyed reading the different ways we each carry on with our ministries and the encouragement that Iâve been given and hopefully given back. Things can get heated when we get on our differences, but we still have that deep Agape love because of who we are in Christ.
The Dems are wanting control of our country and the people that vote them in want freedom from God and His commandments and His way. We are now in a culture war that actually began during the Bill Clinton time in office. Never in our history has there been such open sinful behavior and actual approval coming from our government Commandments of God taken down in government places. Schools without prayer or Bible reading, filth in movies, killing of babies in the womb, persecution of Christians that stand for their beliefs and are run out of their businesses because of it. Our world is in a dark place and the stage is being set for the Anti Christ to appear. Keep those lamps full of oil, trimmed and burning Christian for the,Good Man of the House is coming Back.
Just something I heard recently Douglas, it probably was done in the 1800âs. We have a place in Arkansas called âOld Washington â with a preservation of the civil war. Interesting place to visit. I went on a field trip with my daughters class and we were taken to a cemetery that has ipeople buried there during that era. The Tombstones were interesting to read., not like our modern graves . The first Governor of Arkansas was buried in the town we lived in for years. Didnât know about how the Jews are buried in a place separated from others. I find that interesting. As a teenager we went to grave yards to party and hang out. Crazy kids we were.
All graves are facing east because thatâs where Jesus is going to appear (the eastern sky)at His second Coming.. I love that. I have had friends that were cremated and thatâs fine, too. We will have a new body anyway. Happy and Blessed New Year to all.
John Uk, you go to a very interesting church or services that sounds different than any I have been to. If ever I am in your neck of the woods, I just might go to see what Iâve been missing.Blessings and top of the morning to you.
I donât think we should be throwing,âthe baby out with the bath water.â The hymnal taken out of churches and replaced with songs that to me and others has no meaning much at all. Songs have always helped me and spoke to my heart. I have been so down and going through some trial and a song was sung that lifted my spirit and encouraging me. Most hymns were inspired by someone who had a testimony. Amazing Grace written by a former slave trader. Fanny Crosby, who was blind, wrote many hymns that are blessings to those that sing them. During my quiet times every morning, I have a hymnal that I sing from at times of stress or sadness. The last time was a few days ago when a song was brought to mind, âI Know Whom I Have Believed â and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day. You see, my youngest son had recently gotten saved from a bad time of drugs and rebellion at home.and while sitting in church Satan was causing me to have doubts about him staying saved. This verse came to mind from God, 2 Timothy 1:12. He is a.now older, with a family and still serving God. Thing is, we live in a fallen world, not Heaven. We need all the encouragement we can get as we battle Satan in a world filled with evil. Singing the older Hymns is one of mine
