To Reality...Jesus called the pharisees hypocrites,vipers..like a white washed grave..looks good on the outside but on the inside you are full of dead men bones!!! I am living out my faith by fighting back anyway God leads me to. The German people allowed a mad man to take power and there were a remnant that fought back and one German preacher( Dietrich Bonhoeffer) said these words"Silence in tthe face of evil is evil itself; God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak, not to act is to act..he was put in prison and hung because he not only spoke out but acted as well.
So these people can spew out venom from the pits of hell full of evil and hatred and be tax exempt but a Christian Church has to belong to this 501(c) (3)..that has to go by the government's guide lines of what they can and cannot preach on..no hate speech etc in order to be tax exempt??!! What hypocrisy!! I agree that America is getting more evil and insane as the days go by. Jesus warned us that because we belong to Him that the world would hate us..if we belonged to the world the would love us.
I guess it's just hard for me to see that Mother Tereasa went to hell..I do see a lot of things wrong in the Roman Catholic Church and I would never belong to that type religion. I could never belong to the Pentacost church because they are so legalistic. Thanks Jim for your comment and please pray for my husband He's a good moral man and husband and father..my dad got saved a few months before he died..said how much happier he was and wished he had done this years ago..so did I. He was 82 at the time of death so there is always hope.
Also even if i don't always agree with you all on everything I still love all of you and even though I got off on the wrong foot I have so enjoyed reading the posts and even the back and forth comments are good to read and mull over and pray about. I still think John Y has to make up his own mind where God wants him. My husband has never made a profession of faith. He goes to church wih me and sleeps during the sermon but not the singing with loud drums and all( even puts his fingers in his ears) I can' t make him do anything only the Holy Spirit can do that..I pray for him everyday and hope my life as a Christian will someday win him over.
No Chris..I've been judged and condemed by different people to the point that I just see things different than you all do..I said that as long as a belief of Jesus Christ As Lord andSavior and died for our sins and is The Only Way to heaven..which leaves out the many cults..Mormans, New Age, Jehovah Witnesses, Isliam Budda.etc
Btw my in-laws are pentacostal..from day one of meeting them I was judged by their standards of what a Christian should look like and of course beleve and worship the way they interepted the Bible and again I was pronounced lost as a goose..did their judgement of me cause me to be lost..of course not. I know in whom I believeth and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that Day. Just as that beautiful song says it all,"In Christ Alone I Stand.."I go where God wants me to worship..am I totally happy where I'm at yes even though the songs are too loud and I personally like a quieter service..I've ajusted..God has a work for me to do there so I've stayed but others have left for some reason or other..I have not felt God's leading to leave so I'll stay.
Meaning sinners not other Christians from a different church..long story short she came to visit me and proceeded to tell me that I was not a Christian because I did not belong to the right flock meaning her Church of Christ. Does that make me a sinner of course not..but her judging me was wrong and alie in God's eye. It even angered her because I didn't seeit her way.
I'll try one more time to clear my thoughts on this subject. I had a Church of Christ neighbor. They both were wonderful christian people and loved Jesus. Their beliefs were of course different from mine but we never discussed our different beliefs and got alone great. Their daughter-in-law was much different. She interepted the passage where Jesus commented that all sheep were not of the flock so we must go out and bring them in
Btw I better clarify my remark about the True Bride of Christ will be True believers from all churches. There are also hypocrites in every denomination..Jesus called them the wheat and tares. I'm also of the time another man was preaching about Jesus and was a believer..the deciples told Jesus about the man and rebuked him because the man refused to join them. Jesus said to leave him alone because who is for me is not against me. That one statement keeps me from judging another person's belief ias long as he believes that Jesus came and died for our sins and that He is the Only Way to God and that He was resurrected on the third day.
For what it's worth and for most of you it will be about two cents but that's fine with me. Paul said not to Judge one another..who are you to judge another man's servant..to Him he will stand or fall. We are not called to be a judge but a doer of the law. I'm not going to stand before God and give an account for someone else's sin but my own. The Church, the Bride of Jesus, is made up of true believers in every denomlnation and hypocrites also. I'm Baptist because it's the closest to how I believe..my mother's family were all Methodist..my dad's family no beliefts period. I'm a quite person..can be alone and I'm very sensitive..God made me that way and I see no reason to change because someone thinks I should. I have done many different things in my church..taught Sunday School ..sang in the choir..on numbers of commitees. So john Y you are not shy but you are highly sensitive and don't need a lot of fellowship to be a happy person..me either.
I agree with both jpw and Bjonston..it's not lust unless it stays in the mind and the reason it's so wrong is because it causes you to commit adultry in your heart and maybe that's why we can't hate someone to thepoint of having murder in the heart..we need to not put that in a man's mind by dressing immodest..there's a reason Paul put it in the Bible by the inspiritlon of the Holy Spirit..that's what I meant to say not that men have a lust problem..my son has to pray about this a lot he said..there was a married man and woman who sang in our choir and were having an affair and have since left the church..how did it start..with a look or flirting and maybe nothing to do wih her clothes..I am just saying we need to be so careful and to pray for each other like jpw said in her first post..sorry about the poor choice of words.
I have a ouote here that might help the men with their lust problem. "You can't help it if a bird flies over your head but you can keep it from building a nest on top of your head!"David allowed the bird to build the nest on his head and sinned greatly..and suffered terrible consquences because of it. The baby that was conceived from this sin died..war never ceased while he was king..his daughter was raped by her step brother and Abslolem killed this half brother and in rebellion against his father for not punishing the one who raped his sister(didn't even give him a slap on the hand) tried to take the kingdom away from David and almost succeeded..point being is the sin worth losing the favor of God and his blessings?
Sometimes it's a struggle to find modest apparel anymore which the Bible clearly says a woman must dress modestly and so I look until I find something that would please God for me to wear. I do believe this woman was led by God to put this in print because our Pastors no longer preach on this very thing. I go to a Bible Study which is lead by our Associate Pastor..I made this same comment(when he asked) and he acted like I was wrong and even made the comment," I guess it could cause men to lust. Well, maybe all women should just dress like old women."If a woman is truly born again then no one would have to tell her how to dress..the Holy Spirit would and if she truly loved God above self she would Want to do it. Btw I have never made another comment in that Bible Study even when he asked does anyone have a comment they would like to make? The reason I made the comment was because he had been saying how wrong it was for a church member to tell a man that he needed to take his hat off in church and I said what about these women that...
I read an interesting book years ago called,"How to be a Christian Without Being Religious"..not everbody that claims to be religious,like Chris said, are a Christian or even act like one..even Jesus said as much when He said,"not all that say Lord Lord will enter into the kingdom of heaven and they will have I not done all these good works..cast out demons in your name..done all these miracles in your name and I will lsay to them
I do and mentioned bascially the same thing on another thread that had to do with a law being passed to allow assisted suicide in another country. We have opened a can of worms that is leading to all kinds of evil..only the creator of life,God, has the right to end life no matter how many laws are passed saying other wise and it all began with abortions..where will it end only God knows the answer to that..my feeling is the soon appearing of the Antichrist.
When anyone can plck and choose who lives and who dies all within the laws of the land we have just opened "Pandora's Box of evil". Abortion at the whim of a woman and man if he's involved with the decision..death panels who makes that choice..end of life's choice bill. We are on a run now..feeling pretty powerful at this point, forgetting that only the One who gives life has the choice to end lfe! What's next..Down Syndrone chrildren..the handicap..don't think that could happen? Think again..it did happen in the evil reigh of a madman Hilter who was going to rule the perfect race of people..destroy all those who weren't!
Now let's look at the other side of the coin..how many men have left their wives with children to take care for the liberated woman that saw nothing wrong with having affairs with their liberated women. My father was such a man..my home as a child was full of turmoil because of his drinking and womanising..finally us when I was 14 yrs old for his liberated woman..didn't hear from him for 2 yrs. Finally came back not because he loved us because he was a broken man. While he was gone my mother, a very pretty woman, never dated even though she was given many oppertunties. History repeated itself with me..married a womanizer..had a baby boy..he left me so sick with Toxic kidney disease, 8 months pregnant and next door to death the doctor told my mother. He did not give one dime of child support. I remarried..had 3 more children..was a stay at home mom..have had a wonderful blessed life and would not trade places with the liberated woman for a million dollars!!
