This quote from the article is interesting:

"In his handwritten note, Li, who has also been taken into custody, called upon those church members who have not been arrested to defy the government and continue meeting for Christian worship. “We are willing to have 200, 300, and even 500 of us locked up so that the whole world knows we are willing to be persecuted for our faith,” wrote Li."

I truly believe this Pastors intentions is to overthrow the communist government. Majority of chinese believers are at peace, and enjoying a lot of freedom, this is a fact Bob Fu and China Aid NEVER talk about.

Why? Because they are pawns in another secular human rights agenda, disguised as Christian Persecution.

From a young age, till death chinese are constantly educated to follow your supreme leaders without questioning them. For better and for worse, the Chinese Christians apply this thinking to God, becoming very loyal followers, but also hardly ever questioning their pastor if his teaching are out of step.

And about this article? It's really about one church, a controversial church. It does not represent modern Chinese Christianity at all. And is backed up by primary standing up for human rights (no registration, no cameras, no Chinese flag), and a zeal of turning whole of China into a Christian nation.

But I'm not in prison, and they are, so my opinion has little weight anymore among ignorant people. Yet I also experience spiritual life daily, and things on the ground look completely different.

There is a secular book released last year, called "Souls of China" By Ian Johnson.

Chapter 21: Chengdu the new Calvinists
(and it's historical Calvin of Geneva, not modern day reformed faith)

And Chapters 25 and 26, really explain the zeal of these Christians, mixed with pride to change China into a Christian country.

I love Japan and it's people. Even visited a Japanese church in Canada. I hope someday God would let me teach the Bible verse by verse to Japanese people. And I'm praying for a Chinese Christian to have a burden for Japanese people. So far, I have found none. Japan's inherent problem is their pornography that is deeply rooted into their society and culture, something many missionaries don't understand rarely rebuke it.

I just remember him being against communism, and encouraged the fall of the soviet union. He was also a good father and husband.

Read this verse carefully:

Now concerning the betrothed, I have no command from the Lord, but I give my judgment as one who by the Lord's mercy is trustworthy. I think that in view of the present distress it is good for a person to remain as he is. This is what I mean, brothers: the appointed time has grown very short. From now on, let those who have wives live as though they had none, (1 Corinthians 7:25, 26, 29 ESV)

I really think it's interesting that Paul mentions the hard times that the church in Corinth is experiencing.... but yet.. He still rebukes them, and tries to offer accountability to them.

Sadly no such thing exists for churches like the "Church of Christ in Nigeria". There is zero evidence that this church is nothing more than a charity.

Persecution sucks, but at the same time, these are evil, unbelieving, satanic congregations that lead even more sinners to hell.

I'm surprised that Christians are not concerned about the Church's spiritual state, but instead focus on it's physical state.

I'm not a drinker, but I did read Job yesterday where it says:

Now there was a day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,
Job 1:13

Why was Job's family allowed to do this?

Not to nitpick, and go offtopic but please don't throw your church under the bus, I have no church where I live in China. Fellowship is a prievliedge, iron sharps iron, be satisfied that you can even call them brethren, and even simple things such as praying together are precious, because many don't have it.

That's just how the world always worked, a constant bid for power. Go ask any African if they think China is slowly but surely colonizing them, most will nod in agreement. Anyone ever play the board game called "Risk"? This reminds me of that.

And it can easily happen too
In 1997 Hong Kong was given away to China, that's the same thing as giving away South Korea to North Korea.

It does feel like we are on the brink of a world war.

Thanks for the replies and information.
It's information like that makes us understand immigration better. It's feels silly that we sent troops to the middle east, when there is a real need near our neighbhor s

Some churches simply don't care who teaches there, as long as they look good on the outside. Many times I visit some church, and people invite me to teach their children class, or bible study without even knowing who I am. Many people see an experienced and educated person and they immediatelly sacrifice their kids to them, which is why I hate things like that, the church becomes a free babysitting club open to all, rather than the church. I have a very low opinion of the modern church, which is strange because sermon audio has so many good preachers, but it's not represented in the real world.

in 2011 I gave my first Bible away to a dear friend who wanted to commit suicide. I was saved for only a few months and had to leave for USA. I did not know I would come back to China, but eventually I did, and met my friend, who was now divorced and a single mother, with no money. My Bible was still with her, but almost never used. I looked through it and my notes, and saw how much I had grown! I left the Bible with her, and we have not talked since.

Having worked in magazine advertisement, the magazines are dictated by their ad companies, articles are often requested to be biased toward a product. This the price you pay for getting someone else's money.

I would love to have their last magazine to be on one topic: Biblical Marriage and how anything else is just perversion. But they said it themselves, they are not here to judge.
